As an aside, I wanted to mention I'm going to be on vacation this weekend so I won't be posting as much until I get back on Tuesday. In the meantime, I'll let you guys hash this out as to what you want to do and we'll pick it up when I get back. I think I should also mention that if no decision has been made by then, I'll rule that Bear has forfeited his place in sequence this round, and the thug will go. :D

2012-05-24 [Avaz]: That's definitely a hit. Unfortunately, this guy's leather armor is thick enough to absorb all of the damage. On the other hand, the shock of being attacked was enough to startle the thug. He looked like he was going to move, but being as everything is soaking wet, he slipped and fell on his behind inside the life float. He let go of Benji in the process.

Bear still has a move and minor actions to take. Otherwise, the thug's turn is next.

2012-05-25 [Avaz]: Just a standard dagger. It uses the same stats as a switchblade. And yeah, picking up the knife is a minor action and moving between them will take your move action. I assume Bear would still want his sword at the guy's neck. And that will end Bear's turn. Good turn.

The thug scrambles to stand up, then absently wipes away more blood from his face. But seeing as he is now disarmed seems to do absolutely nothing for his courage. He tries to swing a punch, but misses.

Instead of spending a single move action without using a standard or minor, you can swap a standard action and take two move actions, effectively going twice as far.

You can substitute higher actions for lower ones. So instead of Standard+Move+Minor, you can do:

2012-06-08 [Earoluim]: Bear pulls the thug into the boat and uses the rope around him to restrain him, tying his wrist together behind his back ad to his ankles. He set him down against the wall from which he was pulled over and turned to Benji once more to calm him.

2012-06-11 [Avaz]: The thug tries to kick, punch, or squirm his way out, but is bound too tightly to do anything.

He tries to struggle free, but once the gun's in his face, he realizes it's pretty hopeless for him. He stops struggling and lets out a defeated grunt.

2012-06-22 [Lord Josmar]: "Now that's a good goon." Jimmy said with a smile and a puff of his cigarette, "Now, whaddya say about lettin' us know why you were gonna leave us up there to die?" the whole time, not moving the gun away an inch.

2012-06-22 [Avaz]: The man shook his head to get the bloody water out of his eyes and had a mean scowl on his face. "You tink I'm talkin' to ya wit dat pea shooter in my face?" he spat.

2012-06-22 [Flisky]: "Better the pea shooter than the pea," Tria said coldly. "Talk or that'll change real fast." Her patience had grown thin. Tria was already responsible for the deaths of the other two, and the third one was no big deal.

2012-06-22 [Avaz]: The thug's gaze turned to Tria. "I saw what ya did to me friends up dere," he tilted his chin up, indicating the sky. "How do I know you ain't gonna off me if I tell ya what ya wanna know?" his scowl did not disappear.

2012-06-22 [Flisky]: The girl took a step forward and crouched down so she was at eye level. "You don't." Tria eyed him carefully. "But if you don't start talking fast, you being dead will be a damned certainty. Now you can either take the chance that we'll be pleased enough with the information you give us to let you go on living or you settle with the fact that my trigger happy friend here is going to leave a nice hole in your head."

*snorts with laughter* For the record, Tria is just kind of pissed and not always this mean.

The thug looks at the barrel of the gun, then to Jimmie's face, then to Tria's face, then back to the gun. "Fine, fine." He seems to visibly deflate.

"Look, we was just doin' our job, okay? We was hired to take down dat zep and make it look like an accident, like yous caused it yous selves, and den escape on da life raft afore anyone knew any betta."

The thug looks like is his hesitating with the answer. But half a heartbeat passes and he decides talking is his only option. "We was just doin' what we was told. I dun even know who hired us. We had a knock on our door and when we opened it, no one was dere. Just a letter on da floor. From 'M'. We worked fer him afore. Pays well. So we figgured anudder job was no problem."

Jimmie: This description seems to match the note you found earlier.

2012-06-26 [Lord Josmar]: Jimmie pulled the note out triumphantly and gave it a quick once over. "Nope, can't be Mervin. Not enough grisly details."

2012-07-02 [Earoluim]: ((sorry about the delay, I am in the middle of graduatung and flying cross country)) Bear leaned close to the boy, nodding his head in the direction of the thug. "Keep a sharp eye on this man, if he does something we don't like,..." He stopped for a moment and grinned lightly, "or you don't like bop him in the joints or the ribs with that pipe alright? Can you do that for me Benji?" He asked softly.

2012-07-03 [Avaz]: "You- You want me to hit him? But he's tied up, he won't go anywhere!" said Benji.

2012-07-03 [Earoluim]: Bear nodded, "But we can't be too sure that he won't try something, or get free of his bonds. If he tries to, I want you to be there for us ok."

2012-07-03 [Avaz]: Benji looked scared, "Well... okay, sir. If you say so." He was clutching the pipe with both hands and holding it to his chest, looking nervously at the bound thug leaning on the railing of the life float.

He also glanced at the shoreline, wishing he were on dry land and not half soaked through, but he didn't say anything to this effect.

2012-07-04 [Earoluim]: Bear smiled and looked at the young boy. "We will be there soon little one." He said softly, " Just as soon as we deal with him." He added shortly.

2012-07-05 [Avaz]: Benji nodded, not sure what else he could do. He looked at Jimmie and Tria.

2012-07-05 [Lord Josmar]: "Did the note say anything 'bout why M wanted us offed?" Jimmie asked after thoroughly examining the note they had discovered on the ship.

2012-07-05 [Avaz]: "I dunno. You tell me, smart guy. You's da one as can read." He scowls and nods at the note in Jimmie's hand.

2012-07-05 [Avaz]: Unarmed. XD I should note he is Helpless, so he's susceptible to a coup de grace. If you hit him, it'll crit..which might kill him. ^_^

Jimmie raised his gun as if he was about to strike him. "Now, don't make me beat you about the head. Tell me why we had to die."

2012-07-05 [Avaz]: You do have to declare it. I'm just saying he's susceptible to it, if Jimmie were so inclined. :D My wording for the second sentence should have been "If you hit him with a coup de grace, it'll crit..."

2012-07-05 [Flisky]: Tria took a step forward again and looked at Jimmie. "Don't beat him in the head, beat his head in. I'm getting sick of all this."

2012-07-05 [Avaz]: The goon blinks several times to get the blood flowing from his head wound out of his eyes, then looks at Jimmie again sternly. "Like I told ya afore, we was just followin' orders. We dun ask no questions, we dun get in no trouble." He spat a mouthful of blood into the water.

2012-07-05 [Lord Josmar]: Jimmie put his head in his hands and sighed. "Ya know what friend. Here I am, trying to help you help yourself, and you ain't cooperating." he gestured to the others in the boat, "They'd like very much to just throw ya overboard and let the fishes nibble on your carcass. I don't want that."

2012-07-06 [Earoluim]: Bear fiddle with the knife that he had gotten off of the thug that had grabbed Benji, eyeing the tied up man with intention. The several scenarios playing out in his mind of how to let the sea have its way with this man.

2012-07-06 [Flisky]: "Throw him overboard after we gut him," Tria muttered darkly before turning to let Jimmie deal with him. She kept her eyes on the shoreline, trying to judge how long it would take to make it to dry land.

2012-07-06 [Earoluim]: "How would you like your pallet decorated my dear?" Bear asked Tria shortly, taking a few steps towards the man.

2012-07-06 [Avaz]: It's clear to everyone that either the thug is really telling the truth that he's ignorant of anything else, or he's too stupid to give up the details. Either way it's not looking too promising for him. His head wound doesn't seem to be getting better, and a couple times as he was talking it seemed like his eyes fluttered involuntarily before he was able to refocus his eyes. Then he said, "I told ya ev'rything I know. Ya off me and me blood'll be on yer hands, chum."

When Tria looked at the shoreline, she could made out what looked like a crudely-built hovel made of things found nearby - half-rotted wooden planks, dried fronds, etc.

2012-07-06 [Earoluim]: Bear hesitated for a moment, looking at the thug for a moment, "You talk as if we are friends, " he said, a twinkle gleaming in his eye. "Is that what we are Sir, ... friends?" He added on, stepping closer to him.

2012-07-06 [Avaz]: He squirmed a little bit, still unable to move from his bonds. "Wha's this? Ya think you's gonna scare me? Har!" He started to laugh but choked and began to cough noisily instead. When the coughing subsided, he continued. "Big man ya are, eh? Threat'ning a half dead man. Ohh, quite brave, har! Might be as I'm already dead right here talkin' to yous four. I told ya all I knows. Yous decide me life ain't worth me livin', that's on yous. Ya want ta bring me end quicker? Go ahead then. Do it and be done. No more'a all dis cowardly talkin' and not doin'." He coughed up some blood and spat in the water, anger starting to burn behind his eyes. Or delirium, it was hard to tell.

2012-07-06 [Earoluim]: Bear sneered and stood. "You know, ... friend, seeing is that how we are friends. What does a half dead man do with his own freedom, let alone the other half of him that is still alive?" He asked, putting the knife away.

2012-07-06 [Flisky]: "Just off him and be done with it," Tria said absently, trying to focus on the small construction she had spotted. Gesturing at Jimmie, she pointed at the hovel. "Think we can paddle over there?"

2012-07-06 [Avaz]: The goon sighed and coughed and spat more blood. He seems to be ignoring everyone now, with his eyes closed.

2012-07-06 [Earoluim]: Bear, without hesitation spoke up. "No, leave him to his own. If need be bond to a tree. He is broken, I will not insult his name any farther." He turned his head and looked towards the shore.

2012-07-06 [Avaz]: Bear and Tria, PER check please.

2012-07-09 [Avaz]: The both of you squint and you believe you can make out a person's form near the shack on the shore. It's hard to tell because of the distance, but you feel confident that's what you see.

2012-07-09 [Koho Ai]: Drake was standing on the shore next to his shack looking out into the distance.

2012-07-13 [Lord Josmar]: Jimmie looked out where Tria had pointed. "Oh yea. That'd be easy to paddle to."

2012-07-13 [Avaz]: What are you guys going to do with the goon? Shoot him? Drown him? Let him go?

2012-07-13 [Earoluim]: guys ?

2012-07-13 [Avaz]: Yeah. Bear, Jimmie, and Tria.

2012-07-13 [Flisky]: Tria glanced back at the tied up man and shrugged. "Can we get rid of the dead weight first?" she asked, trying to be casual about it.

2012-07-13 [Earoluim]: "Let us retrieve the other raft and let him be alone in it." Bear said softly.

2012-07-17 [Avaz]: OK, for the sake of convenience, I'll just DM-handwave this part.

The party retrieves the other life float, then dumps the one living goon's sad little body on top of it and they leave him there. He dies shortly thereafter from his bleeding head wound. The party then makes their way to the shore.

As they get closer, the figure that they thought they saw earlier comes more into focus. ([Koho Ai], go ahead and describe what Drake looks like.)

Meanwhile, we are going to pause here because Tria, Bear, and Jimmie have reached level 2, congratulations! :D

You guys should take a few minutes to look over the new rules. If you want to completely remake your character, message me and we'll talk about what changes you want to make. If not, that's cool too. Just do the level up thing and make the changes on the character page.

Too many changes to note, but the biggest ones are:
- many more Features and Boons
- a few Boons now have prerequisites
- inventory no longer uses weight - the amount of items you can carry is now determined by Encumbrance, and uses slots.
- casters don't have to choose spells; they gain all spells at each level. That's double the number of spells!

I'm almost done putting together the new rules. Keep an eye out for a link very soon!

He's currently wearing just his pugilist shorts and Black Skirmisher Boots. He has a light tan, because he's been working out and keeping up with his fitness as he lives on the shore line. He's unarmed, but his backpack is nearby with his spiked knuckles in it.

When we last left our intrepid adventurers...
Jimmie, Bear, Tria, and their young companion Benjamin (Benji) got some clues regarding their abandoned airship. They then found some thugs who were trying to kill the party by making it look like an accident, and leave without them knowing. Thankfully the group caught up with them and killed them all during a wicked fight in the air and sea. They then set their sights on a rickety looking shack on the beach in the distance, and they made their way to the shore...where a shirtless man named Drake waits for them.

What now?

2012-08-20 [Avaz]: Unless you had some business still in the water, I just figured you were on the shore. We can rewind if necessary.

Jimmie hopped off the raft and kissed the ground. "I don't think I am ever gonna fly again." he said aloud.

2012-08-20 [Flisky]: "Flying certainly wasn't my choice," Tria commented as she climbed out of the raft. Her skirt and hair were drenched and she set about wringing them out. Looking at the man standing there, she eyed him through her lashes as she twisted her hair.

2012-08-23 [Earoluim]: Bear Lifted Benji up and stepped out of the raft, making sure that they had all of their possessions, he walked forward onto the shore several feet from the man and bowed his head.

2012-08-23 [Koho Ai]: Drake had watched them get out of the boat, and figured four to one wasn't very good odds for any man, but to his astonishment one of these guys walked up to him and bowed his head. "You don't have to bow to me," he said slightly confused,"but if you're here to kill me you better think twice about it," he continued replacing his slightly confused look with a much serious one.

2012-08-23 [Earoluim]: Bear sat Benji down gently next to him and took off his helmet. "It is not my wish or desire to harm you Sir, unless you give me not other choice in the matter." He said softly as he extended out a friendly hand to the Man.

2012-08-27 [Koho Ai]: Drake shook the man's hand, and turned around to grab his backpack, "so, why are you out here, and the matter of fact who are you guys anyways," he said now grabbing his shirt out of his backpack and putting it back on, "cause I wasn't expecting any visitors today?"

2012-08-27 [Lord Josmar]: "We weren't expecting to be visiting anyone today." Jimmie said as he brushed the sand off himself.

2012-08-28 [Earoluim]: ((Are we still in sight of the Airship?))

2012-08-28 [Avaz]: The airship is a tiny speck off in the distance. You can barely make it out on the horizon.

2012-09-01 [Earoluim]: ((but we know it is there right? Just for a reference purpose.))

2012-09-01 [Flisky]: Tria finished wringing the water from herself, but she still felt heavy and waterlogged. Walking slowly towards the others, she stuck close to Jimmie, eyeing the stranger.

2012-09-01 [Avaz]: Earoluim: Yeah, you still know it's there. But it'll disappear pretty soon.

Meanwhile, Benji also tries to dry himself off, silently watching everyone in this exchange.

2012-09-05 [Earoluim]: "Ah, please forgive me." He said shorly bowing his head and taking off the skull cap." My Name is Bear, and these are my frineds, Benji, Jimmie, and Tria." He said warmly as he motioned to each of them calling out their names. Bear stood back up and put the cap back on his head and looked at the stranger expectanctly.

2012-09-06 [Koho Ai]: Drake looked at the one brushing sand off his clothes and the girl wringing out water. Then he looked back at the man who removed his cap while bowing. He then looked at each of the individuals as the man named Bear pointed out who they were. "My name is Drake, but most just call me Lucky," he said letting out a small sigh, "So, what brought you guys out here?"

2012-09-06 [Flisky]: "That crashing airship," Tria answered sarcastically, gesturing behind her. "Now, can you tell me where exactly 'here' is?"

2012-09-06 [Lord Josmar]: "Oh, you know, the usual. Just taking a leisurely flight followed by a fun filled life raft flight and gun fight." Jimmie said, "How do you spend your weekends?"

2012-09-06 [Earoluim]: Bear looked back at his companions and then back to Lucky. "We all awaoke on an airship, in the prison cells for what we know now why or what of at this time. While Making our escape we found this delightful young man." He said softly, motion for Benji to come over to him. "We not know of where we are Sir. And we were hoping that we would be in your good fortune to know." He asked politely.

2012-09-07 [Koho Ai]: Drake remembered seeing that airship and shrugged a litte."Well, currently you are on a shoreline next a nice little shack where I've been living," said Drake to Tria," Oh and your name was Jimmy right?" "I spend my weekends training my body to become stronger, faster, and to endure more hardships then anybody else. He smirked after answering their questions, but took a slight liking to Bear given that he seems to be the voice of reason behind this group. "Sounds like you guys are having a rough time just like me," he said then continued," but if you go just beyond the ridge of that hill over there you will find a nice trail thats easy to follow, and it will take you to the city." Drake then points to the ridge of the hill to show Bear where it's at.

2012-09-07 [Flisky]: Tria resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Which city?" she inquired as politely as possible, which wasn't much given her current annoyance at the situation.

2012-09-07 [Lord Josmar]: "Oh, well aren't we just Mr. Fit-n-Trim." Jimmie mocked under his breath as this Drake fellow returned his attention to Bear. "These two gotta be brothers or sumthin'." he thought to himself.

2012-10-12 [Lord Josmar]: Hey! Everyone but me! POST!

2012-10-12 [Flisky]: I just did. Someone else, POST!

2012-10-12 [Avaz]: The shore and surrounding environments definitely don't seem familiar to Tria, Bear, or Jimmie. You might even guess that you're in a different country at this point.

2012-10-12 [Lord Josmar]: This realization sunk in, and Jimmie began to wonder. "Where are we even? What country is this?" He asked the new Beach Bear.

2012-11-08 [Avaz]: I'll make official. This game is dead.

2012-11-08 [Flisky]: *sad Flisky*

2012-11-08 [Avaz]: Me too, Flisk. :( These things happen though. Plus, I can always start up a new one, if there's enough interest...though with a smaller group maybe to keep the flow quicker? I dunno.
For what it's worth, you guys were on the shores of Rio de Janeiro.

2012-11-09 [Lord Josmar]: NOOOO! Let me know when you start another one, I'm totally still interested. Just as long as I can play Jimmie in the next one.

2012-11-09 [Avaz]: You can bet your ass I will have another one running. Jimmie will need to be tweaked, though, because the new edition of the rules has some MASSIVE changes to what you folks have been using. I'm still currently in the process of rewriting, but lots of stuff has already been done. For people that are interested, I'm even keeping a running Changelog to keep track of things as I change, add, or get rid of stuff.
