For cool fonts for Drow alphabet and Power Runes....

2006-12-30 [xido]: 2006-12-30  [Linn Scarlett]: "xido, I am afraid the only examples of drow script i could find were on the -authorized- mercendise blades of our dear drizzt. Yes yes Icingdeath and Twinkle. Presuming it's the blade names on the swords I managed to crack their code, but it still leaves me with a gaping alfabet sheet. here are the pics of the swords i google up (i saw them at the midwinterfair there at a booth) http://www.museumreplicas.com/webstore/ShowLargeImage.aspx?Prod=TWINKLE&LgImage=0500514_L_000.jpg
http://www.museumreplicas.com/webstore/ShowLargeImage.aspx?Prod=Icingdeath&LgImage=0500596_L_000.jpg "

"so yeah, I got the letters and combos for the sword names (see how the two I's in icingdeath resemble with the I in twinkle, and how the E and e in both resemble aswell for example. But also how the th of icingdeath is related to the t of twinkle etc etc *insert gibberish concerning language script cracking techniques*)"

Thanks, Linn. ;)

2006-12-30 [Linn Scarlett]: *nods* I'll use the dozen or so letters from the swords and see if I can distilate some logical forms for the gaps in the alfabet. I'll do some of it today after I've done some studying on my drivers license exam :/

2007-01-05 [xido]: sounds wonderful. I will of course appreciate any help I can get on these scripts, and if money is involved, I will make sure it is noted that you had a helping hand in the matter. ;)

Thank you, Linn. You rock the frigging house. :P

Btw, I looked at the swords, and that script is way sweet! I like it, and of course, it would be cool to replicate as best as we can.

2007-01-07 [Linn Scarlett]: Well, as I said, I cracked the letters for each symbol -thank the gods i had two words to compare, being Twinkle and Icingdeath, presumably- So I took in what I knew of drow language -such as possible symbols for ng and nk and ss, because those are used a lot etc

2007-01-22 [xido]: I agree. That was luck in the work. ;)

So, my main goal with this page is to have a full list of drow/undercommon letters (D&D says they use Elven letters for undercommon - Elven is in the works, creating a non-Quenya form), and their earth equivalent/sounds, plus a list or basic diction of terms/translations.

The Drowic Classroom will certainly be featured as an active workplace for learning and using Drow / translating to Undercommon. The house sigils are cool too. ;)

2007-01-27 [Linn Scarlett]: *nod nod* yours truely

2007-01-28 [xido]: Any clue where on http://www.wizards.com/dnd/ there is a link to the info about the book, 'Underdark'?

2007-01-28 [Linn Scarlett]: You mean the campaign book? I have it so ask out what you want to know :)

2007-02-05 [xido]: that's the one! :D

I am posting a reference to that and all Wizards Core rulebooks on here, for legal purposes. ;)

2007-02-17 [Linn Scarlett]: *nod* pleased

2007-04-07 [xido]: Thanks. ;)

Does FR: Underdark say anything about Undercommon? I do not know of any publication that does speak about it, but I also do not have Races of Stone to be sure that all my bases are covered....

Elven Language and Script will be developed first, and then drowic and elven scripts can be presented in equal forms here, so that Undercommon and Drowic will both have adequate information.

2007-05-11 [Linn Scarlett]: Hm no, none of the books I have speak of it in a Drowic-for-Dummies sort of way. All info in my classroom is gathered from mostly books I read (stories) and some rulebooks

2007-06-02 [xido]: Which rulebooks?
I only learned from the Maerdyn translator online, but that does not help much for a script...

2007-06-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Drow of the Underdark, Guide to Drow, the new book on Drow, I don't know 1-2-3, but yeah just scavange Drow books

2007-08-09 [xido]: [Torr-maat] says he just bought Drow of the Underdark, after I moved.
For your viewing pleasure, I would also like to note the following page for beasties:
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/All_DnD_Creatures
I would peruse around that wiki for a while... It looks like the most professional non-Elftown wiki for D&D online material so far. ;)

2007-08-10 [Linn Scarlett]: *nod nod* I think I've all books on Drow and FR humanoids at the moment -as far as i know
