<img:stuff/aj/190782/1300710693.gif>
we are here to help the guards to stop elftown violators.

We do not accept this sort of behaviour:

1. cyber bullying (name calling, threats or saying stuff about there family).
2. wiki destroying. (you will face a ban).
3. spamming (will not be tolerated on this site).
4. no pornographic images to be posted unless they are artistic (if you want to do that then go to www.fake.swedma.com)
5. harassment (if a member tells you to stop messaging them you do so otherwise they can report you and it will be classed as harassment and you will be banned
6. not breaking the uploading art rules (taking pictures off search engines and posting them in your house.

We like this behaviour:

1.  keeping to all elftown rules
2.  having fun
3.  creating wikis
4.  donations
   5.  getting along with other members

You can do all kinds of things on elftown but make sure you keep to the rules otherwise you could face losing your place on here

Gah, someone sent me a chain message!

The best response is to write a message back:

Chain messages are not wanted on Elftown. See [chain messages@wiki] for more explanations. If you continue to send chain messages after receiving this warning, the guards will ban you.

2011-03-29 [Mortified Penguin]: In that case, can I get a guard and council badge sans the privs?

2011-03-29 [Kaimee]: That does sound cool [kians mummy], but wouldn't it be nicer if you could work with us guards to help people trust us, or in turn, let us know what specific things are happening that is stopping people trusting guards?

I just really don't want people to think they can't come to us with a problem :( See how different it is now that you and I have actually worked things out, rather than a whole lot of mistrust?
I think if you encourage people to make reports themselves it will work out best for everyone, and you could keep letting us know when people have a problem, and help us work it out so that everyone is ok :)

2011-03-30 [kians mummy]: a good thing to get the members to feel comfortable with the guards is say if they have a picture up, you give them the oppurtunity to take it down first, and then if they don't the guards then take full action.

the people gain my trust if they are not ignirorent, arguementative, nasty, or do not spam members or members wikis

[Mortified Penguin] sorry to say, it don't work like that, if it did then everyone would have a badge, they should do one on how many wikis you have, but nope.

i want people to trust the guards but how are they going to trust them when the only way you get the guards attention is when you do something wrong

2011-03-30 [Kaimee]: Ohh now, that's a bit mean :( We guards do try and pay attention, and I certainly have payed attention when you came to us with a problem :)

It's good to remember that the guards and council are just normal members like everyone else here, with their own wikis, friends, forums etc that they're busy with. They just happened to be the people who proved over time to be responsible and knowledgeable about elftown, so they gradually became responsible for different areas of elftown.
Maybe the best way to interact with the guards is to remember that they're all individuals and not one big mean force ;)

But what you're trying to do is great, and we certainly can use as many members as we can get who are happy to interact with guards just as if they are normal people when they have a problem :)

2011-03-30 [kians mummy]: thats what i mean, when i came to you with a problem, without a problem we won't even no the guards was there

2011-03-30 [Sunrose]: @Mort: the badge does have a representative function as to show what type of powers have been given to someone. Since you have been given none, the badge isn't given either :P

From the job description you posted for sheriffs, people don't come to interact with sheriffs unless they did something wrong (upload something against the rules).
Guards tend to have other jobs on Elftown, like being a featured image boss or something alike. Through which they do interact with people for other reasons than them doing something wrong. It's impossible for all crew to be everywhere at all times though.

I think people forget that the whole site is based on volunteers. Everyone expects some kind of free service as if it's a natural thing, some almost act as if they paid for it and thus deserve some kind of customer service. Crew members all however have real lives with jobs, family, friends etc.
So of course more help from members is always welcome. Just trying to give you some things to think about, because the better you understand it all, the better solutions you might find to problems that have so far occurred.

2011-03-30 [Kaimee]: Hahaha Sammie, if there's no problem, then the guards are just like other elftowners! :D We all have a pretty diverse range of non-crew friends on here, who feel totally comfortable talking with us like normal ppl :)

2011-03-31 [kians mummy]: [Sunrose], we are not the guards get that straight,

2011-03-31 [hanhepi]: since Sunrose was a Vice Mayor on the Council and a Lieutenant of the Guard, i'm fairly confident that she realizes you aren't the guards.

she seemed to me like she was trying to point out to you that from your own description of the sheriffs, people will get similar interactions: that is to say that in addition to being either an official or "official", you'll be going about your regular lives between letting people know they've done something against the rules.

2011-03-31 [kians mummy]: yep

2011-04-01 [Sunrose]: I never wrote or implied sheriffs are guards, so I'm not sure there is anything to get straight.

I tried to point out that people interact with guards in more situations than rule-violations, because they tend to have more than 1 job here. Whilst the job of a sheriff seems to solely be to talk to members who violate the rules. So basically what she claimed about guards, is actually more true for sheriffs. But I could be wrong of course, it wouldn't be a first :P

2011-04-01 [Alexi Ice]: Hmmm

2011-04-01 [Sunrose]: :D

2011-04-01 [Alexi Ice]: For some reason I don't like the word sheriff. It's spelled funny ...I have no idea why...it just bothers me. Lol

2011-04-01 [Chimes]: It's spelt right. :P

2011-04-01 [windowframe]: No, I'm pretty sure it's spelled Sheriff. <_< </laem>. You've probably just looked at it too many times, Akane. Like when you say one word repeatedly, it just loses all meaning.

2011-04-02 [Alexi Ice]: I know it's spelt write. Rather it just LOOKS funny to me. For whatever reason. My OCD allows me to dislike some words and not be called crazy...*ahem* Moving on now...

2011-04-02 [windowframe]: ...That's what I said? <_<

2011-04-02 [kians mummy]: [Alexi Ice] your crazy lol

2011-04-02 [Alexi Ice]: I am aware of that little fact, Sammie! But thanks for pointing it out! Hehehe ^^

2011-04-02 [kians mummy]: No worries, i will be putting some different dividers on soon.
