2009-02-06 [Viking]: Looks interesting. I may have to try this out.
2009-02-14 [Veltzeh]: How about PHP?
2009-02-15 [Hedda]: You can't use it.
2009-02-15 [Viking]: Javascript won't cause heads to explode.
2009-02-15 [Veltzeh]: Dang. Will you ever allow PHP?
2009-02-15 [Hedda]: I find that highly unlikely. What do you want to use it for?
2009-02-15 [Veltzeh]: Well, my whole homepage gallery is made with PHP, and I was thinking if I could put all that on ET, but I'm sure that would've been too much even without PHP.
2009-02-15 [Viking]: If you already have a homepage hosting php you should be able to make javascriot calls to that page.
Of course if you're looking to replace that page, it won't really help...
2009-02-15 [Hedda]: You mean http://www.mut
There are no forms there, so I don't get what you use PHP for. Just as a way to compile the HTML? Then it's possible to do that in a temporary web-server and then upload the static pages.
By the way, if you want comments on any page, you can use:
<iframe style="width: 75%; height: 400px" src="wikic.html?name=sitebuilding"></iframe>
(I can add other styles on request)
2009-02-15 [Viking]: Anyhoo, how about including something like jQuery or Prototype for those of us who may want to use JavaScript?
Making one (or both) of those libraries accessible (and standard) could make javascript usage a bit easier for everyone involved.
2009-02-16 [Veltzeh]: Hmm, well, if my homepage isn't too much, then I guess I could do that! I'll probably generate the pages with Perl or something since I don't have another server and I don't have time to learn how to set up one...
2009-02-17 [Hedda]: [Viking] you mean like having a Javascript file that people can include? That's pretty easy, but the ones who use it probably want to have their own copy of it on their site anyway.
2009-02-28 [Veltzeh]: Uploading a zip file doesn't seem to work... It doesn't matter if I pick the "unpack zip-file" option or not, it just uploads the zip and doesn't unpack it. Bug?
2009-02-28 [Hedda]: Hm... Seems I forgot to restart the upload server after fixing that problem. Now it works!
2009-02-28 [Veltzeh]: Yay!
2009-03-01 [Hedda]: Works fine, it seems.
2009-03-01 [Hedda]: Well, except that you didn't upload so much.
2009-03-01 [Veltzeh]: Nope, not yet. I haven't had time to make all the scripts that generate the content, because university.
2009-03-03 [Duke Devlin]: This is a darn spiffy feature. I believe I may just try this out. :) I do need practice with web-stuff. :)
2009-03-04 [Hedda]: Do that instead of talking about it!
And tell us about it when you have something.
2009-03-06 [Duke Devlin]: Haha apologies. :P I tend to do that alot... D: XD
Will do. :)
Fare thee well~
2009-03-12 [Veltzeh]: I'm getting a redirecting service thing, but I'm not sure what address I should ask them to redirect to, since we have so many options. :P Is one of them recommended?
2009-03-13 [Hedda]: I think http://Veltzeh
2009-03-13 [Hedda]: (Which however means that you must never ever change username.)
2009-07-01 [MeerderSeele]: neat ;D now the server is much better than any other ones i used....
http://elftown
One question, when I browse this site as above with i.e. ---in the news section within the framge,if I click left mouse button, it strangely leads me to an inexistent webpage, but there's no such problem in viewing in firefox.....
2009-07-01 [Hedda]: You're writing your links wrong. When you copy a link with & in it, you have to change it into &
Link this:
http://www.hos
must be written:
<a href="http://www.hos-shop.com/shop_content.php?language=en&coID=9">hos-shop...</a>
(Firefox and Opera are "nice" and make the links work anyway)
I suggest that you clean up your HTML generally and then you can use http://validat
2009-07-01 [MeerderSeele]: =D thank you...and a new question...I can't delete uploaded files--I wrongly uploaded two html pages and when I try to delete them it always say 'The server failed to fulfill your query' while i can delete any other files....
2009-07-02 [Hedda]: Is it the article\artic.
I guess the \ might cause problems somehow... *looks* Yes, there was a quoting problem in the Javascript (And a bug in the web-server made the error).
Now it should work to delete them!
2009-07-04 [MeerderSeele]: Arhhhh Thank you it works now! Hedda my hero ;DD
2009-07-06 [MeerderSeele]: one more problem....;B I and some of my friends can get access to my site, but quite a few said they can't, and said when they sometimes click http://meerder
2009-07-08 [Hedda]: That's bad. I see where the error is, but I'll fix it tomorrow, I hope.
2009-07-09 [Hedda]: There: Now it should be fixed!
The problem occurred when someone went from a link from another site to http://elftown
Thanks for helping out at finding the bugs!
2009-07-09 [MeerderSeele]: Thank you so much whee!! =B
2010-03-02 [MeerderSeele]: file link error
Hi dear Hedda,
when i click on my folders under the main directory, the links lead to wrong file, there are two files i have:
1.directory/ne
2.directory/im
no.1 is to store news htm only, no.2 file is a subfile under images, for storing images. When I try to upload images to the second file, or click go to second file, the link always lead to the first one
as explained from screengrab here:
http://elftown
http://elftown
http://elftown
thanks!
2010-03-02 [Hedda]: Thanks! I'll look into it tomorrow!
2010-03-04 [Hedda]: Hm... More problems than I thought. I'm rebuilding it a little, so it will take a while, but hopefully be much better.
2010-03-06 [Hedda]: I'm not sure if I've solved your problem (I didn't encounter it), but I rebuilt the system quite a bit now.
There was a problem with where files where uploaded to by default.
There is still no correlation in what there is in the address-field in your browser and where in the tree you are. I'm not sure if that is a problem.
2010-03-09 [MeerderSeele]: Dear Hedda, problem solved. Previously i was not able to upload pictures to the file i want(when i already input correct path and target folder), it always uploaded by default. Now it works well. Thank you!
2010-03-09 [Hedda]: Good!
2010-12-21 [MeerderSeele]: me again (is wondering am i only one who uses this elftown function here and got problems? ;)
css won't show on page...I uploaded css and html page to the same folder and all the css style just got lost when viewing under firefox and ie.8 , can't figure out why...maaany thanks!
ps i tried other web hosting it works, but i like the stable one in elftown
2010-12-23 [Hedda]: You don't seem to have that file there now.
Maybe you wrote the link wrong. You have to write relative URIs. If you write src="/somethin
Remove the beginning / and it works. And use ../something.c
2010-12-23 [Hedda]: (Well, or http://elftown
You're pretty much the only one actively using it. A few others have a little stuff though.
2011-01-02 [MeerderSeele]: Hi Hedda do you mean that I should upload index page to default folder and then upload css to separate folder as .../something.
http://elftown
http://elftown
;S
2011-01-02 [MeerderSeele]: Oh wait...just now i tried to browse the index page with ie8, and it works! so it's a problem of compatibility with firefox i guess...really strange cause i tested it under firefox o.O anyway i'll check coding again, thank you! and ps happy new year! ;D
2011-01-02 [Hedda]: No, I meant that you mustn't write links like src="/somethin
The problem here was that Elftown sent your .css-file as "application/o
2011-01-03 [MeerderSeele]: hi got it, thank you mayor! =D
2011-05-19 [MeerderSeele]: Hi major Hedda, me again =D
About forwarding domain to the one i got from godaddy, cause the pages here are bit different than other hosting, so I'm a bit confused, should i forward this domain http://meerder
Cheers!
2011-05-20 [Hedda]: I'm not sure how you have set up your Godadday-domai
The thing is that you can't point www.yourdomain
So you have to have a redirect service that answers to http://www.you
I'm not sure that Godaddy offers this service for free (Gandi.net does), and I don't know some service that can answer on http://www.you
Update:
But I fixed now so that if you (in DNS) point www.anydomain.
So it will work if you have registered meerderseele.c
www 28800 IN CNAME elftown.eu.
