“I sat on the swing at the park, staring holes in my shoes. The tassels on my jumper blew in the wind, this way and that, up and down, ignorant of my anger. The waves of the ocean reflected my dark mood. Fading away, then surging forward in a churn of anger when some small fact of the betrayal was remembered. Ah yes, the betrayal. I fought to keep my anger down. It could only get me hurt now, or even worse, killed. You had to keep your wits about you. I had to be patient, and wait for the right opportunity to strike revenge. Revenge, I reminded myself that the day would eventually come, and I would savour the moment when it did. That I would taste it's sweetness

“Hey”

I didn’t hear the voice the first time; it entered my head and got lost in the swirling vortex that was my thoughts. It swam and crashed against the rocks of my depression violently as I strove for self control.

“Hey!”

I heard it the second time, and the dark mood I had instantly vanished. The sound was sweet like honey, playful and enticing. I looked up through my hair and caught a sight that took my breath away. Standing away from me was a girl. She was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and a dull-red hooded zip-up jumper. She had a dark blue skirt on that ended just past the knee, and open sandals covered her feet, with socks underneath to protect her from the cold. Her eyes were a pale green, with a shine of happiness in them that couldn’t be ignored. Her hair was a shoulder length golden brown, which blew softly in the wind like magic. She lifted her arm to move remove a lock of hair from her face, and briefly covered the small sprinkle of freckles on her nose and cheeks. Her eyes glowed like fire with a zest for life from under her golden arm. She smiled when she realized I had seen her, and her thin lips parted to show off straight, white teeth. She waved, and her smile became even more intense.

I stared at the beauty in front of me. My arm refused to move and voice a reply, so afraid was I of scaring off such a beautiful sight. She laughed, ever so briefly. It was a sound as magical as any I had ever heard before. It was like a tune, a tune that only I was invited to dance to. A tune that only I had the privilege to hear.
As I sat in mute astonishment, she began the short walk towards me. She shifted the weight of her text books from one arm so the other could move another lock of golden brown hair from her face, all the while keeping her beautiful smile.
She stopped elegantly in front of me, and I looked up at her to see her clearly for the first time. The beauty I had witnessed from afar had become all the more enchanting. Her thin nose was upturned ever so slightly, in a manner that could only be described as cute, adding a slightly childish look to her lightly tanned face. Her features were firm, secure in their individual contribution to splendour. She held herself with a confidence I had never known. A confidence that she was all that she could be.
As I watched, taken in by her unavoidable beauty, the look in her eyes dimmed and glazed over. Her stance changed into a more subdued, and her smile lessened ever so slightly, from a guarantee of happiness to more of politeness. She said in her magical voice for me and only me to hear:

“Oh! Sorry! I thought you were someone else!”

And with that she turned on one heel, as graceful a movent as any other, and walked away, a slight sway from her hips adding to the aura she had created, I watched her the whole way through the park, until she turned a corner and left my sights forever, fixing a misplaced lock of golden hair from her glowing pale green eyes. . . . .”
