Sometimes-------I see you as you are,
fresh from a bath and naïve like a
young dandy off to a love affair.
-----other times I could care less.
Except that with you around I’m not
the only-----rakish thing in town.

Between lavish dates and sprawled legs,
or hair flipped over a pillow: a portrait
of two people in bed, reminds me
----more and more of a melodramatic play
that I’m tired of repeating¡

So goodnight, I think I’ll say:
-----when you peel off your clothes
and beg for desirable things.
I’ll spend more time watching you leave
(only to come back again) and counter-act
your gaze by turning away---

I don't want to talk anymore,
But I guess that's what you wanted all along.
Go ahead, be disappointed in me,
Feel betrayed and angry and hurt.
After all, I'm the one at fault.
But honey, you should know
You aren't the only one trying to tape their heart back together.
And maybe I have no right to feel this way,
And maybe I should have left things as they were and moved on,
But excuse me for falling for you all over again
When I was the one too scared to keep you close the first time.
So keep on going, don't look back at me.
Close yourself off so my words won't affect you.
I'll be the bad guy this round and let you get away,
Selfishly hoping thoughts of me will linger in your mind.

It's hard to explain,
The pain I feel,
Missing you,
Is so unreal.
I never thought it would end like this,
My lips still remember our very first kiss.
The silence stabs like a thousand blades,
A thousand memories refuse to fade.
I would do anything to forget you,
But I love you.
