Panic

There is a hand inside my chest.
Most of the time, it is simply there,
But every so often,
It starts to wrap itself around my heart.

A single finger, I barely notice.
Two or three, I do nothing but take note of it
Before returning to my life.
But when that hand begins to take hold...

That is when I pay attention.
At first, it's no more than a slight throb.
Discomfort, as if those fingers are pressing
Just slightly into the muscle.

As the fist begins to form, though,
It feels just like trying to fit
Your hand through a bangle bracelet
That's just a bit too small.

And when the fist tightens,
I can't breathe. I cease to think.
All that exists is shock-fear-anxiety-terror-agony-dread-tortuous PAIN.
But, just as suddenly as it starts,

It ends. And I'm left wondering if
The hand is truly there and
Has simply let go for the moment,
Or if it was all just my imagination.

The Riddle

Dark as Night Am I within, yet bright as Stars My Soul doth shine,
Mortal flesh within My skin, yet Within Me flows Blood Divine;

Brother, Father, Lover, Son, Deeds of Honour have I Done,
Wrestled I with Royal sons, yet of them I was Never one;

Warrior, Healer, Guardian, Destroyer, Joy and Torment Always Mine,
Sweet My Pleasure, Fierce My Pain, Cruel am I as I Am Kind;

Wolf amidst a flock of sheep, yet their safety did I keep,
Alpha Male among The Pack, woe do all My enemies reap;

None in The Nine worlds like Me you'll find, and yet My Kind ever abound,
UnKnown to the foolish massess, Yet there We all are all around;

If only knew you who I Am, then Joy and Fear you would have near,
The Wrath and Comfort of My presence Pierceth You in Passion dear;

Friend Am I to prey and Hunter, Pure My Hate and True My Love,
Too Strong for the fiercest warriors, My One weakness, harmless as a dove...

Spoilt Autumn

Please see me as a flawless diamond.
Shimmering and alluring to all eyes - a siren of melancholy.
Typical of milk spilt,
As I spit acid since,
Tears as despicable and weak.

Black stained against velvet,
Or like cold issues of loathsome words.
Reaching out as the spoils of Autumn,
Stretched out like a blanket.

The Ghost

Transparent film of yesterdays prevents him touching.

Sleepy morning finger to hot kettle
(cold water splashing, sleep in eyes)
Tip of quivering tongue to frozen window
(french kissing jack frost)
Hard-earned slap across the face
(red, stinging, dazed)
Time-stopped summer afternoon tulip
(breeze, warm, clean, soil)

Him with his mouth open in supplication.
G i v e m e !

He stands on the top floor pressed to the window
hand hard flat, fingers spread wide.
The dull pink crease of the life line cuts
deep and long across his pale palm.
