Mother

The waves overlap my soul
As I squiggle my toes in the sand
Closing my eyes and thinking of you
Reminiscing on the wrong I would constantly do.
Wishing I could relive our memories,
Visualizing your face and smelling the sweet scent of your gentle perfume
Just wanting to feel your warm embrace
As you would tell me you loved me and caress my face.
I took for granted how much you cared,
I wasn't there when I should have been there
How can we be so oblivious to the harm we do to others?
How could I not see I was killing you inside?
When all you did was love me, the only thing I ever wanted
These waves are my emotions, continually coming in and going out
As I roll back in, I close my eyes and think of you
The ocean being my home, I become home sick and wonder what why it Took me so long to come back home
I missed this, but most of all...I miss you.

Loss

I am, to myself, a lost cause.
Four solid walls,
A prison of nostalgia.
Stitched in time,
But with loose threading.
Days blinked away,
Swept out from under me.
Uncontrollable, and unrepeatable.
I wave good bye to those sands,
And have lost my place.
Loss – does time truly have no value?
In my hands, cradled.

Here We Are

A little bit older.
A little bit colder.
Clawing at the ground
For memories that will keep us warm.

American Angle

------nosedive on the city with
our skin slicked back,
then crashed through the clouds
with my silhouette laughing madly.

------caught in the last act before
we call out to one another in rhymes,
skewed our profiles sideways for a
quick look up at tonight.

---brought back here with ease
to do it all again
----sent back in a hurry
(We’ve forgotten our eyes and our lighters)
-------gentle kerosene flare that burns us
to cinders
-----then a nice cold current that helps
us settle into something----

------See? I told you it was nothing.
