Buses

The sleek cosmopolitan creatures
wound their way through the night
like a trippy Murasaki passage,
their lights rippling across the windows
of the upscale hotel like the upscale hotel's
lights rippling across the puddles as the
Seattle not-quite-mist-but-not-quite-rain
made its mind up to meander
down to the cosmopolitan pavement.

There is something about the night,
the quiet, exhausted liveliness
that got caught in their sleek form
as they wound their way through the night.
By day they are trundling eyesores, by night -
THIS.

Into You

Here and now is a soul unhidden,
the spirit glides in the wind.

Here's a soul who's whole,
and here in your heart unfold.

Love and spirit embrace,
and intertwine in this place.

As leaves fall, he flies into your heart,
unable to crawl up to you.

Trust that this angel is gliding over you.

Here and now is a soul hidden,
the spirit goes to heaven.

Fight

You try to push me to the brink
But I won't lose my ground
Even if I keep getting hurt
I'm not going to back down
The anger builds inside of me
You've finally gone too far
This isn't a fight I'll let you win
You can't stop me now.
I'm stone-cold sober
With a battle on my hands
Even if you break my body
My will will never bend
Don't you dare underestimate me
I'll show you what I've got
I'll never roll over and give up
No matter what the cost.

To a poet I never met, eight months dead

I grieve for the flood of your words.

Surely your absence does not stopper them
or suck dry their juice.
They have not vanished with you.

Surely the flood of their their truth melted forth
with your exhale,
soaking deep into the ground,
speaking deep into the earth,
To wait. To fertilize. To grow.

Perhaps we will pilgrimage there,
to touch the rich moist earth of your passing
to our fingers, to our lips.

Dio Mio, we will murmur. Love has passed here.
We heard the beating of its heart,
We hold its manuscripts in wooden journals,
We long to breathe the wet fire of its breath.

The earth has claimed you.
We claim the earth.
