2007-07-21 [Starna]: Why are entries that simply have text and a colored background considered scifi? Why are entries with just words considered scifi?

They look good, but what the heck? There are images on this page of lower quality that aren't being voted on, but at least they are scifi themed. When did you stop enforcing your own rules? It says at the top it has to fit the theme or it will be removed, yet they're finalists.

Don't get me wrong, they look awesome, but they don't seem to fit the theme at all.

2007-07-21 [Chrilith of Akhai]: I think it's because the style, colors and composition are "Sci-Fi"-ish.
Plus, the one running first at the moment is in fact one of those logos, so they're appreciated by the rest of Elftown.

2007-07-21 [Starna]: I didn't say they looked bad. I'm sure they're appreciated, but if someone is looking for a logo that shows elftown as having a scifi facet, those few don't really convey that. The rules page says the scifi element needs to be obvious. I just don't see the scifi.

Popular, yeah. Pretty, yeah. Scifi, no. Its the very fact that the non scifi choice is in the lead that I bring this up. The contest was obviously so there would be a banner logo for scifi sites to use, and if this wins the scifi contest, then there won't really be a scifi logo available.
