I've loved 'Who we are...' by Maria J. William since I first saw it.

It's taken me sometime to get my feelings about it just... right.

'Who we are...'

Bright blue eyes, a young girls face, beckon me through time and space.
Tattooed marks like the old Inca, head bejewelled like a glowing star.

Twin moons high over techno town. Verdant forest with a glowing crown.
Ancient keeps and dragons wild, surround the aura of this child.

Stars apart? All the same place? Separate in time, but not in space?
A resting place or her families home? The ancient keep or the techno dome?

A knowing look, her face aglow, what wondrous gifts might she bestow?
Is she a portent from afar? Or perhaps just a message, 'Here we are'

I dare not hope, within my time, to clear the riddle from my rhyme.
For two moons light the glowing face, proclaim no world known in our space.

Perhaps my children's, children's, seeds, flung star wide by expansions needs,
Will find the keep or the techno dome, and prove at last! Man's not alone.
