2005-06-08 [Artsieladie]: This page is where I'm showing my horse art. :D

2009-09-21 [*Phoenix*]: Very nice work! I feel that I should voice my opinion....In my eyes I've noticed that your horse anatomy is exquisite, but I've noticed that your manes/tails seem to be a bit static...there was one, I can't remember for the life of me what it was called (it was a unicorn, I do remember that!), it was curly and was a bit more flowly, but I've just noticed it and I've also noticed that it wasn't just one, but almost all of your pictures.....I hope you can tell what I mean.....

2009-09-23 [Artsieladie]: I am not grasping what you mean, but I'm also tired (as usual). Perhaps, you can explain more and/or use examples? I appreciate the criticism. I just need to understand it or what you are trying to get across to me. ;)

I'll use this as an example....

It looks to me that the mane between the ears (sorry can't remember what it's called) is hard and static. A horses mane/tail is soft, wavy, and follows the curves of the horse beneath it. In this one the mane stick out in front of its face almost like it's been jelled out there...

I'm sorry if I sound mean. It's just something I've noticed in not just one but many of your photos so I thought I'd bring it up.... Let me know if you still don't get what I'm trying to say...It's kinda hard for me to say without being downright mean and harsh. (I don't want to be mean and harsh because I love you!) :]

2009-10-18 [Artsieladie]: Hmm... actually in this piece I like the forelock better than the mane, even if it takes on the appearance of just being plopped on there like one would plop on a wig or toupee. The mane to me looks like it has been 'wet down'. This piece I never actually finished, because I transformed it into another.

When it comes to manes, tails, and forelocks, I have a tendency to over emphasize and this is likely because I love long and full of these. When I had my horses, I was very particular about their care, naturally, but their manes, tails, and forelocks I always fussed over to keep them as long, full, and beautiful as possible, to appease a fetish of mine. I sometimes refer to my own hair as my mane. *giggles* Perhaps, this is a contributing factor as to why I keep my hair long, down below my waist line in fact.

The mane and forelock would likely follow the contour of that which it is draping as I think you are trying to say, unless you take into account that there can also be present, moving air currents. Then any way that the hair may be positioned is possible, even if some is going one way and some going another, because it also can depend on that which these moving air currents are bouncing off of first.

My dear, I know you are trying to convey how you see the pieces and this is fine. I don't mind, really! Each artist sees things differently and the artist creating often gets so accustomed to looking at a piece, that they can no longer see how it might be improved or changed. So no worries. *hug*

2009-11-26 [*Phoenix*]: The air currents make some sense..I just don't see them because most of them are portraits and with portraits there normally aren't air currents (at least ones that move the hair that much). It's just that they look kinda static...like they've been sprayed with hairspray......like in "Horsey Scene." But then "Chestnut Beauty" doesn't have that problem at all...

2009-11-26 [*Phoenix*]: Totally different question: Are you a council member still? On the council portrait page were I put my picture of you, you're no longer there....
