This little poem I wrote for [hidden_nightmare], one of my first friends on Elftown. Then I thought that it would be just a little bit nicer if I did illustrations to go with it. So I put the poem together with the illustrations using Adobe Photoshop 7 & Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9. Even though this fits on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper, I did it in these 3 sections for uploading to Elftown purposes. So, [Whalah!] [hidden_nightmare]!

This is a poem that [hidden_nightmare] wrote about her kitten, ["Josie"]. I think she did a cute, little poem about a cute, little kitten! She's my first friend that I made here on Elftown, & I love doing special things for [ Special Friends! ] *_~

With [hidden_nightmare]'s permission, I'm putting her poem here in a somewhat more obscure place. This is one of my favorite works by her.["Thank You"] for letting me put your poem in my house, too!

"Who Exactly Is The Damsel Then?"

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             “A monster has me”
             A knight heard in his mind
             “So save me, please
             If you would be so kind
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             Oh won’t you help me hero?”
             She said again
             “The beast will eat me
             It will cook me at ten”
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             “Do not worry”
             He said to her
             “I will come for you”
             His voice was a purr
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             And so the knight saddled his horse
             And put on his helmet
             “I’m on my way, princess
             Just say my name: Garret”
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             “Oh Garret my knight
             Rescue me and hurry
             Only you can save me
             Just please, be a flurry”
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             He rode his horse swift
             All through the night
             To rescue the damsel
             That was in such a plight
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             It must be a dragon
             And a wicked one at that
             With a hide as tough as leather
             And sharp claws like a cat
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             But when the knight arrived
             He was shocked at what he saw
             Twas not a dragon that was the monster
             But a girl with hair like straw
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             She held a chain in her slim hand
             One that bound a dragons arm
             And when the knight backed in confusion
             The girl smiled with some charm
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             “You cannot save her”
             Said the girl with a sneer
             “So you must leave now
             Please do, be a dear.”
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             The man was confused
             This was all wrong
             He had never seen this before
             And he had been a knight so long
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             But duty was duty
             No matter who was in need
             He would save the dragon
             And do a good deed
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             And so he charged forward
             Speeding to a fast pace
             He would slice off her head
             And try to keep a straight face
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             But when he got close
             She dodged and she rolled
             A spell was cast
             And his head suddenly lolled
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             Not for long though
             For the dragon was free
             She waved her arm
             And the girl turned into a tree
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             The knight’s head snapped up
             Asleep no longer
             “What did you do to her?
             Why did you not kill her?”
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             “I do not like to kill”
             Said the dragon proudly
             “I am a peaceful monster
             And live as a hermit gladly”
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             “You may be kind”
             Stated the knight
             “But people will still hunt you
             And ask for a fight
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             “And so I ask you a question
             For I have fallen in love
             Will you marry me today
             And be my sweet turtle dove?”
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             The dragon was surprised
             But she eagerly agreed
             For she also loved him
             And her face just beamed
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             So they married that day
             And went off to have children
             Don’t ask me how
             For I don’t have enough ken
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             I’m just happy they love each other
             They’re like two peas in a pod
             One is a Familiar
             And the other an Odd.
