Character Generation

A step by step instructions on how to create a character using the Burn Up system:

1) Get some idea of where your going with your character. Is it a guy or a girl (or an it), what are his/her strengths and weakness, what is he/she good at, etc…

2) Each species that your character can be has a minimum, a maximum and an average for each of the seven ability scores. (See Burn Up Ability Scores) For a human these are ten, thirty and twenty respectively. Write down the averages for the species you wish to play. You may alter these scores to individualize your character in the following ways.
You may subtract one from three separate scores and add one to three other, separate scores. You may do this once.
You may add one to any ability score. You may do this five times.
You may move one point from one ability score to another. You may do this five times.
You may add three to any ability score and subtract two from two other ability scores. You may do this any number of times.
When you finish, all ability scores must be between your species minimums and maximums for each ability. These are your major ability scores. Your minor ability scores are equal to half your major ability scores. If a minor score has a decimal of .5 or higher, you may round up.

3) Calculate all Skill Scores using Burn Up Skills

4) Calculate Secondary Scores using Burn Up Secondary Scores

5) The player can choose any three of his/her character's ability scores. For each of the selected abilities, he/she gains a number of points equal to the major ability score. These can be used to permanently increase skills and some secondary scores which use that ability. If a score is increased by more then 10, then 2 points must be used to increase it each additional 1. If it is appropriate to the game your character is in, ranks in magic divisions can be gained by spending Wit and Luck skill points in the same way. See Burn Up Magic.

6) Your character will start with full Hit Points and Energy.

7) Select one knack using Burn Up Knacks

8) Select gear using Burn Up Items. Ask your GM how many credits you start out with.

9) Give your character a name, height and weight, hair color, eye color, and any other details you want.
