Welcome to Cosmetology!

Cosmetology is a part of Life Science at the Elftown Academy.

Hello. Well, this will certainly be fun! Just a little background information on my beauty experiences. I have researched different types of make-up. I learned a lot of proper things from a woman who always helped me with big events, and she taught me the proper ways to apply make-up and some fun tricks. I have so many beauty books it's not even funny. :) Don't worry ladies, you can trust me on this, you'll come out of this class looking like beautiful models.:) Make-up is a very important aspect of a woman's life; It helps boost self-esteem and is always fun to try. :) Always remember though, it's not always what is on the outside, it's what is on the inside that counts. I'm sure you are all beautiful anyway. :)

2004-03-10 [Flight of the Butterfly]: meh, I have trouble with acne, face and back =(

2004-03-10 [sugarplumfairy]: I know what you mean. =(don't worry, we will get into that and how to help it and cover it up and all.:) if you need anything, feel free to message me and i'll answer any questions that way. :)

2004-03-11 [hanhepi]: woo hoo im not the only one with an acne problem!!!ive had acne since i was 9, and im 24 now. nothing seems to work. retin - a didnt even work! (i did have a nice sunburn for 6 months till i stoped the treatment though lol)

2004-04-23 [Dark_Raven]: How do you become a student????

2004-04-23 [sugarplumfairy]: on the bottom of all the discriptions and stuff, right before the comment box it says"edit this page" then just type in the box on the page that comes up your username where everyone elses is... Hope that worked... sorry for the LONG delay.. i will be getting more up soon... school and pageants and performanceshave been taking up alot of time.. but i will get to work on it sometime. LOL

2004-05-13 [hive]: i have a great cure for some types of acne, mostly white heads that have not formed fully, most Rx have a product called Mint Julip Mask, it's all natural and is kinda clayish, place a small but generace amount directly on the zit right before bedtime and leave over night, in the morning it will eather be gone or reduced conciderably, ive used it for years and only have a few problems now, not like i use to though

2004-05-13 [Flight of the Butterfly]: I sunbrned my back and he zits that were there totally vanished. . .and now that the burn is going away the zits are coming back, go figure!

2004-05-13 [hive]: zits on your back can really suck, the reason they went away with the burn is probly because the oil was dried up for a while, my hubby has the same problem, thats why i try to WitchHazel his back every night, this soaks up the oil and it is all natural, try this, if it doesn't work we'll try somthing else

2004-05-13 [hive]: sorry if i sound like im trying to take over (truly sorry)

2004-05-13 [Flight of the Butterfly]: witch hazel? never heard of that treatment, I'll give it a whirl ^^

2004-05-13 [hive]: cool, its very inexpensive and fine for every type of skin, the smell is alittle ichy, but well worth the results

2004-05-16 [hanhepi]: rubbing alchohol works good too. (can be verry drying though. and usually an alchohol back rub here leads to other things....)

2004-05-18 [hive]: yah, alchohol should only be used after a zit is poped to avoid infection, it will dry out your skin and maybe lead to a worse brake out

2004-08-30 [Flight of the Butterfly]: I found somethin' out a week ago, I have a hormone imbalance and I'm now using a progesterone cream. . .and once my hormones are settled, my acne should clear up ^^

2004-08-30 [hanhepi]: well that is good. im on the estrogen/progeterone patch (birth controle) and i still have acne. i've yet to ever be clear since i was 10 or 11. that retin-a cream helped a little, but i sunburned so easy it was scarey. (i already burn fast, lets not speed that up any, thanks. lol)

2004-08-31 [sugarplumfairy]: hehe hey guys.. well.. i know it has taken me forever to start the class.. but it will be starting very soon... :) sounds like ya'll have been helpin eachother out on this board though. :) that is great... well.. i'll talk to all of you again by the end of this week. Luv ya all beauties.. :)

2004-09-01 [Flight of the Butterfly]: my problem is my body generates to much testoterone (thanx mom) and progesterone is like the opposite if it, so it helps get things back in balance. . .and so far its working a bit ^^

2004-09-01 [hanhepi]: i know that feeling. my testosterone levels were kinda high, but still in the "normal for a woman " range. yet, i have facial hair. lol. my mom and dad still get the ocassional pimple, and both still get blackheads alot. i think its just something heradatary. (i think i get it mainly from my dad.. his acne is worse than moms, and she said she didnt have that many before menopause)

2004-09-01 [Flight of the Butterfly]: ah, genetics, the killer of good skin lol

2004-09-06 [hive]: hormones suck because you can't control your acne when its hormone related, but by using relaxation and meditation you can slow them down

2004-09-12 [Sunrose]: Teachers please visit ETA Departmental Staff and check up your status! The professor is asked to keep in check of own teachers, so make sure they also report to you: if they don't you have the power yourself to fire your teachers, change their status and hire replacement ([font] can't do everything, so please help him out!) ^^

2004-10-13 [Dil*]: ooo this looks good..i need help lol...i tried mascara about a month ago and poked myself in the eyes 4 times...i've finally got the hang of it. BUT i'm too afraid to try eyeliner.

2004-10-17 [ballerina_fairy]: hi

2004-11-07 [hive]: eye liner is easier to apply if you take your finger and pull the lower lid down, make small careful strokes, go over if needed, make sure that your pencil is soft and not to hard, to sofen it apply slight heat, but not to much

2004-11-07 [Dil*]: hmmm good advice.

2004-11-07 [sugarplumfairy]: :)

2004-11-07 [Dil*]: ...here's a shocking revelation..i don't own any eyeliner...o.O

2004-11-07 [ballerina_fairy]: lol

2004-11-07 [Dil*]: ...yep, i'm the classical disaster person that should be on this wiki alright.

2004-11-07 [ballerina_fairy]: awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww *huggles*

2004-11-07 [Dil*]: ..^__^

2004-11-07 [ballerina_fairy]: *coughs ina teacher way* Lets mnever remind anyone of this again

2004-11-08 [hanhepi]: dont feel too bad dilandau, i dont own any eyeliner either. lol. i bought some a couple times, once it was stuff in a pot that you used water and a tiny brush to apply, i was ok with that, but never could get it even on both sides, and i had a pencil, but after the 4th time in one application that i poked my eye with it, i threw it out. lol.

2004-11-08 [Dil*]: ....Lol, i think i have one..but it's hard and painful to try....I should try heating it up like that other person said...like heat it up with a flame or what..o.O

2004-11-08 [hanhepi]: near a flame, or your hair dryer might work. i really liked the paint on kind, it didnt hurt at all. :)

2004-11-08 [Dil*]: yeah..i'm gonna buy me some once i'm not so broke ;-;

2004-11-16 [Dil*]: bought liquid eyeliner...tried it...lets just say: trainwreck disaster.

2004-11-16 [hanhepi]: omg. that bad huh? ive never used the liquid. the dry stuff you add water (or spit) to works good though.... maybe it was the brush that got you?

2004-11-16 [Dil*]: it's a really thin brush...just that it goes on all blotchy and horrible.

2004-11-16 [ballerina_fairy]: LoL

2004-11-18 [Ilivetodance]: i tried liquid eyeliner once....it all ended up IN my eye...very hard to get out

2004-11-18 [hive]: eye liner is probly the hardest makeup to apply, the dry stuff is the best, after appling it use a q-tip thats wet to take any mistakes off, but unless you have to have it i wouldn't bother, it can't be that good for your eyes anyway

2004-11-18 [sugarplumfairy]: you could also use a make-up sponge to remove any mistakes anywhere, not just with eyeliner. I find make-up sponges are better then tissue or anything. Try not to use a wet rag, or tissue to remove a mistake if you have foundation and base(powder) on your face. It makes what is called MUD... it just gets cakey. YUCK! so use make-up sponges. I like wedged ones best. :) but the q-tip idea is good for eyeliner also, unless you have foundation on underneath the eyeliner, then you don't want to get that cakey. :) REMEMBER... try not to use other ppls eye supplies, eyeliners and such, it could cause infection if they are old or dirty, it just best to always use your own. :)

2004-11-19 [Dil*]: good advice..., i don't use foundation...or powder...or eyeliner (lol, i tried...but i've kinda given up for now)

2004-11-19 [sugarplumfairy]: oo hehe why?

2004-11-19 [Dil*]: it...leaked into my eyes..not pretty -_-;

2004-11-19 [sugarplumfairy]: wait wait... while you were putting it on? the mascara or eyeliner? :)

2004-11-19 [Dil*]: liquid eyeliner.

2004-11-19 [ballerina_fairy]: OuCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

2004-11-19 [Dil*]: ...it didn't hurt..it just kinda floated there in my eye-fluids..kinda gross >.<

2004-11-20 [ballerina_fairy]: oooooo AHHHHHHHHH

2004-11-21 [Dil*]: ...

2004-11-21 [ballerina_fairy]: HI everyone!

2004-12-02 [Dil*]: heya..

2004-12-02 [Sunrose]: Attention Elftown Academy Professors and Teachers! All departments have now received an official banner. Departments not following the Uploading Art Rules by friday will have the banner removed again! The banners are NOT to be used on classrooms!!

2004-12-03 [hive]: thats good advise sugerplumfairy, yes you should never use anyone elses make up because it can transmit germs very easily, for those of us with very sensitive skin try mixing baby powder in with your facial powder, it makes it a little lighter on the face

2004-12-25 [pinefairy]: hmm thnx

2005-01-14 [hive]: a friend of mine just got an eye infection because someone used her eyeliner and didn't tell her, so please don't use anyones makeup period, even if you know this person, some people are more sensitive then others. ;)

2005-01-16 [Sunrose]: [ballerina_fairy]: are you actually teaching here? :)

2005-01-17 [sugarplumfairy]: hehe well.. i haven't had much up in a long time, but we are usually just using the comment board and giving advice and such as of right now.. but if you would like to be a teacher in this class... send me a message.. whenever the private messages start working again. :) or on here.. either one....but as soon, as I get my things in order.... i will hopefully have more things up to post for this class. :)

2005-01-18 [Sunrose]: Eh no..I am in the Board of Governors and as such checking some teachers up ;)

2005-01-21 [Sunrose]: Well since [ballerina_fairy] is not answering, she's to be taken off the page please :)

2005-02-16 [SkyLynn07]: I want to be a student.

2005-02-16 [Sunrose]: Sign up! ;)

2005-02-16 [Bookwyrm]: I know nothing about makeup. I can make it look decent but I feel bad that I don't really know what I'm doing...

2005-02-18 [sugarplumfairy]: hehe no sweat.... :) this class will be teaching many basics, and some advanced steps. and make-up isn't what makes beauty, it's what lies underneath the make-up and clothes, what is on the inside and who you are. :)

2005-02-20 [Bookwyrm]: Yes I know that much heh...it's simply that I love to excel in what I do. And sometimes it turns out okay, other times it doesn't. That's not okay for me heh.

2005-02-21 [Dil*]: [ Attention Teachers/Professors ] If you have a messy classroom, please use the official Classroom Template to fix it up. -elftown academy crew

2005-02-21 [dragonflye]: I am curious about something, I hope you can tell me the reason for it. Whenever I wear sunblock, I turn red as a lobster, but if I go without it, I barely color at all. It's almost like it has a reverse effect. why is that?

2005-02-23 [♥Flames♥]: I thought these were really cool so I made it into a wiki: audrey hepburn's beauty tips.

2005-03-05 [sugarplumfairy]: wow!!! very cool.. thanks!

2005-03-05 [♥Flames♥]: no problem! I thought it was so sweet!

2005-03-08 [dragonflye]: is anything ever going to actually happen here?

2005-03-09 [♥Flames♥]: I think so, I hope so. I've thought about your skin thing above ^ but I really can't think of why that happens, sorry!

2005-03-09 [dragonflye]: I've thought that maybe it has something to do with PABA but i'm not really sure.

2005-03-10 [♥Flames♥]: woah *flies over katy's head* O_o

2005-03-11 [sugarplumfairy]: hey dragonflye, well, I have some thoughts on what could possibly be messing with your skin. There are two different types of sunscreens, chemical and physical. Chemical sunscreens contain Benzophenone or oxybenzone(benzophenone-3) those are active ingredients that prevent sunburn. There is usually 2-5% of those active ingredients contained in chemical sunblock. Most chemical sunblocks can cause various degrees of redness and sensativity to those who have Rosacea. Do you have Rosacea? it's similar to acne.

2005-03-11 [sugarplumfairy]: I know that there are NATURAL sunscreens, that contain more plant oil, and nature taken substances. Maybe you could go to the drug store and look at the ingredience of different sunscreens, I think it might just be something in the one you are using. Try looking for a Physical sunscreen, the other type of sunscreen besides chemical. Or you could look online for one, or look for Natural sunscreen, because I have seen them, and my guess is something alittle less irratating might help. :) Let me know, and the other girls, if you have any questions. :) Hope I helped alittle. :)

2005-03-11 [sugarplumfairy]: OOOOO another thing that just came to mind, if you use a facial wash,or a toner that contains Benzoyl Peroxide, that could really irrate your skin to begin with. Benzoyl Peroxide contains strong chemicals, and a specific type of bleaching treatment to clear up acne redness. It is a very strong product, that can be very irrated if in the skin for a certain period of time. If your wash or toner or any facial products you use contain that, narrow usage down to once a day. It can be a very drying ingredient, and make your skin dry and red and irrated. That mixed with an irratating sunblock is NO fun.

2005-03-11 [sugarplumfairy]: ALSO, i'm almost done, sorry, USE MOISTURIZER!!! this goes to all of you!!! you think that if your skin gets dry, then it is just firming it and clearing it, be whatever the case, that isn't it. It is also lacking moisture!! That could also make it oily, without moisturizer, your face becomes dry and starts using your natural oils to regenerate itself which makes your face oily. USE MOISTURIZER!!! also,Dragonflye, if you are taking any medications, read the warning and usage indications, alot of prescriptions say things about the sun, so if you go out in the sun, it might not just be your sunblock, it could be a mixer of ingredients of daily usages.

2005-03-11 [sugarplumfairy]: switching to a different facial wash or toner could help, and look for a more gentle sunblock. You might be having an illergic reaction to ingredience in any of those, and the sun and sunblock might just be making it worse. Take all things into concideration! all of you ladies! TIP: Mila Kunis (jackie/That 70's Show) uses eye firming cream under her eyes! GREAT IDEA! the skin underneath the eyes is very sensitive, and is one of the parts that tends to wrinkle with age, to prevent wrinkles early in life, and for your late years, use eye revitalizing cream, or just moisturizer under the eyes could work also, but maybe not AS well. :) ok... i'm done blabbing, hope I help!!!!

2005-03-11 [pinefairy]: wowie!

2005-03-11 [♥Flames♥]: WOAH

2005-03-13 [Bookwyrm]: I have a question...I spend a lot of time crying, voluntary or not, and that, along with a slight case of insomnia and major allergies have given me slight wrinkles and black circles under my eyes at a very early age...do you have any tips for getting rid of/preventing further problems/or covering up these problems?

2005-03-14 [dragonflye]: first question. are you crying because you are sad or because of allergies?

2005-03-14 [Bookwyrm]: A mixture of that and a few other things

2005-03-15 [hive]: if i may dear teacher, placing tea bags, while they are still alittle warm, on the eyes can really do wonders for dark circles and wrinkles, but please be sure to check the tempature with the inside of your arm before putting it on your eyes

2005-03-15 [dragonflye]: ahh I know the feeling. *love* I've heard that before, [hive] I just don't remember where

2005-03-15 [Bookwyrm]: Thank you very much! -smiles happily-

2005-03-15 [♥Flames♥]: keep smilin! :D

2005-03-16 [sugarplumfairy]: well, thank you for the tea bag suggestion... i didn't think that warm tea bags would help, or atleast i've never read it, but thank you!!!! hey ya know what ever works... all advice is wanted!!!! :)

2005-03-17 [♥Flames♥]: Today I was talking with my friends, and is it true that salt water is good for oily skin and healing the skin? Just curious.

2005-03-19 [~BLACKIE~]: hey every1

2005-03-19 [~BLACKIE~]: how do i put my name one the student list?

2005-03-19 [♥Flames♥]: got to "edit this page", above the comments and write your name under the list. Don't delete anything though, or you'll be in trouble! lol. :)

2005-03-23 [sugarplumfairy]: ok.. dear Bellezza Di Sonno Rota, sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Ok, underneath the eyes we don't have any fat lining, which makes the under eye area very transparent to blood vessels. When we are stressed, or we have a lack of sleep, or have been crying alot, the blood underneath our eyes has very poor circulation. The reason we can see the blue blood vessels underneath our eyes, is because of the tissue and skin having no fat lining, so just for everyone to know, that is what the dark under eye circles are.

2005-03-23 [sugarplumfairy]: There are ways of covering up the circles under your eyes. Gold based foundation is what you will want, or a gold based concealer. Sometimes you see those little tubes that look like lips stick, and they have a green and yellow concealer in the same tube, that is what you will probably want, that is the easiest route, or just a gold based foundation.NOT TO LIGHT!! If you go white or ivory, it will have the reverse effect, it will make them show up more, same goes for redness on the face, a foundation to light, will only have the reverse effect of covering up the problem. If you do use a make up for underneath your eye, use it around the whole eye, it will give it a more even look.

2005-03-23 [sugarplumfairy]: After you use your base (foundation concealer) use a transparent powder, it will help the make up stay, and give it a nice healthy glow, and even it all out. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT use eyeliner or mascara on your bottom lashes, and only slightly on the top, for that will make the darkness under your eyes stand out more. Just so we are clear, nobody is perfect, the people we see in magazines are airbrushed, it's not like they don't have any wrinkles. :) hehe but......

2005-03-23 [sugarplumfairy]: for your wrinkles, you could use an under eye cream treatment (anti-wrinkle cream) Try and find a wrinkle cream that is made from plant and marine extracts. That is the most healthy and natural kind, naturals help the skin and replenish the skins moisture. YOU ALWAYS WANT MOISTURE UNDER THE EYES!!! prevents and helps wrinkles. Also, when applying a wrinkle cream, or moisturizer, ALWAY tap it on, do not rub it on, rubbing is irratating, and can cause the undereye circles to be worse, or cause redness and irrataion, and you also don't want to pull and tug on the skin, under the eye is very sensative, always tap on. :)

2005-03-23 [sugarplumfairy]: And, for more of a home remedy you can lways use cool tea bags, or cool cucumbers. I think it is always best to use a face mask with it, for more of a facial type, luxurious, relaxing feel :) I just bought a jelly eye mask, the masks that go around your eyes and have slits so you can see, and they have gel in them. Those are great too... they are meant to be a cooling sensation, and you can still walk aroundt eh house and talk on the phone and all that with them on, and they still work to reduce puffiness and dark circles. :) They are very great and relaxing. :) Well, I hope I helped. Stay happy darlin', i'm here if U ever need to talk. :) *big hugs* :)

2005-03-23 [sugarplumfairy]: OOOOO and also, if you stay fit and healthy, and have good nutrition, that will help your dark circles also, because exercise and good nutrition help circulate the blood, and help with so many other help factors, not only undereye circles. :) well, there ya have it... :) hehe

2005-03-23 [sugarplumfairy]: oh.. one more thing.. hehe sorry.. are you taking any allergy treatments??? if you are GREAT, keep them going, but if you aren't, maybe you can get some over the counter ones that will help die down on the nose pressure and puffy eyes and all. :) ok.. i'm done. LOL

2005-03-23 [♥Flames♥]: Good advice. I have dark circles and recently I've been eating a lot healthier by having more fresh fruit and veg ( 3-5 portions a day) and it does help. :P

2005-03-23 [♥Flames♥]: Oh and drink lots of water, it helps flush out all the impurities and toxins in your body, so you're helping your body and your skin.

2005-03-23 [hanhepi]: i have a spot of burst blood vessles on the side of the bridge of my nose, next to my eye. is there any way to fix that or do i need to just hide it? (i have verry good wet/dry powder that hides it wonderfuly, but i dont wear makeup very often. i would rather fix the problem than just hide it.

2005-03-24 [Bookwyrm]: -bows gracefully at sugarplumfairy- Thank you so very very very very much! I could cry in happiness for your help...but I won't because that would just make everything worse. And I have to take allergy pills lol, I have severe allergies...I hate spring heh.

2005-03-24 [sugarplumfairy]: YOU ARE VERY WELCOME!!! :) that was so sweet. :)

2005-03-24 [Bookwyrm]: -grins- ^-^

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: dear Princess_katy... No, salt is very bad for the skin.Saltwater is very drying. It has a higher amout of electrolytes (basically ions that help the kidney, heart, and nerves) then the skin cells do. Saltwater dehydrates the skin, which damages the skins barrier function (surface layer) and it allows harmful organisms to get at it's living part. SO NO.. it is not good, it is very drying, and unhealthy for the skin.I hope you haven't started splasing on the salt water already, thinking it was good for your skin. :)

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: have you ever swam in a lake or ocean, and you know that kind of cracky feeling, and dryness you feel after you climb out, that is the saltwater, drying you top layer of skin. It does suck up oil, but... not in a good way, and also, people with oily skin, stil should not try and suck out all the oil on their face. When oil is sucked up, the pores work harder and produce more oil, thinking that the face needs it. The face also should have moisture, as with the whole body. That is why, even people who have oily skin, they still use, or should use moisturizure.. but there is moistuizers and lotions, made directly for oily skin. It helps, treat oil skin, but doesn't get rid of it,it should......

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: the skin should always have moisture....:) so, please don't splash on saltwater, and warn your friends too. :)

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: Dear Hanhepi.. :) Spider veins or broken blood vessels (many names) is a ruptured capilary that leaks blood and then moves along the outer surrounding capillaries. When the running blood dries that is what you see, and what are known as spider veins, broken blood vessels, ect. They are usually caused by heredity, anxiety, sun exposer, extreme heat, drinking alcohol, and picking at the skin ( or pressure applied to that spot) . There really isn't anything cheap that you can do besides use make up.ummmm......

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: there are some things that you can do.. THERE IS HOPE.. lol ... there are medications, usually over the counter. One I know of is called Capillary Clear, and it is a cream based formula. It would run you about $35.00, $17.00 uk. YOu can buy it online, just type in "capillary clear" on a search engine and i'm sure you can find it that way.Vitamin K supplements, or creams work also... those are easy to find, and not as pricey.

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: For a more extensive procedure.. there is Laser technology for those types of things , Diode Lser, but that could run you $250 or more.. per section. There is "Injection Therapy" which is a shot form, but that cost just about as much. Those are really the only types of things possible, or the creams made for capillary breakage, which aren't hard to find, and those reduce appearance. Also, I think.. if you applied a cool compress to the area, it might prevent swelling, or it getting worse. The do have a treatment called Compress capillary, where there break it up with heat.. and technical things, but that runs a good amount of money also. DO NOT USE HEAT!!! they are professionals.....

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: and have the right tools and knowledge of what it does. As i said.. it can be cause by extreme heat.... the professionals know what they are doing when it comes to that, if you just slap a compress of heat on there, you will have bigger problems. :) so please, do not use heat on it. I would say use a cool compress, not icey cold, but cool, and do not push, just hold a nice cool rag on there gently and that will prevent swelling. Other than that, you just have to give it time, and maybe get a cream or let it go away on its own. Not to scare you, but sometimes things like that never go away .. I know adult who have them, and they have never gone away, but it could depend on the person.

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: just don't irritate it, oooo and another thing, do not rub on your foundation, tap it on.. rubbing could make it worse.. i'm sure it will go away, just treat it good, and be gentle, don't press, squeeze, poke, or anything else. :) lol and no heat. Also, spicey foods can cause them, but i'm sure it would happen more if you were illergic to spicey food, so you don't have to cut those out so much. :) well .. i hope I helped, and go ahead and try some over the counter things. Well, again, hope I helped, talk to you soon dear. :)

2005-03-25 [♥Flames♥]: thank you! Don't worry, I haven't spashed around in it, so no worries! :D

2005-03-25 [sugarplumfairy]: good to hear. LOL

2005-03-26 [hanhepi]: it came up after a sunburn. i had a pimple there or something (whih of course i tryed to pop. bad bad me!) my first thought was skin cancer! lol. i had my obgyn look at it (i was pregnant, and since i was there i figgured i could ask him if it was cancer. he LAUGHED at me, and told me what it was.) its just a small spot, not as big as a pencil eraser. its been there for 3 years with no change. its not swolen and it doesnt hurt. but i think i will try that cream or the vitamin K. that was helpuful, thank you. :)

2005-03-26 [hive]: i am not trying to overstep you dear sugarplumfairy, but i wouldn't go back to that doctor, he sounds like someone not that concerned with your health if he laughed at your question

2005-03-26 [hanhepi]: well, he was an obgyn, and i think it just caught him off guard when after he finished my pelvic exam and was poking arround on my big ol pregnant belly i said "hey doc! " pointed at my nose " is this a melinoma?" when he laughed it was actually reassuring, because no one laughs at cancer. lol. i guess obstatrician/gynocologists dont get questions like that much, espically from 22 year olds (thats how old i was at the time). he said i probably have atleast 10 years before i really have to worry about melanomas, then told me what it was.

2005-03-26 [♥Flames♥]: well, its better to be safe and maybe laughed at than sorry.

2005-03-26 [Dil*]: lol, that is funny.

2005-03-26 [hanhepi]: yeah i totalt didnt mind getting laughed at. lol. and it was funny as hell.

2005-03-27 [hive]: im just real protective of my sisters here, didn't mean to say he was a bad doctor, ive had bad experiances with doctors in my life, but if it humored you then good, that is the best medicine anyway

2005-03-27 [hanhepi]: i understand. :) i have had bad doctors before too. :( those i never went back to again.

2005-03-27 [♥Flames♥]: happy easter everyone ( I hope that doesn't offend anyone, I just got a right go at because I said that in one wiki...because some people are jewish! I respect that, but ppl are muslims and hindus etc ....no body really cares about offending christians anymore *GRR!) any way, to those of you who don't celebrate easter...have a good day any way. :D

2005-03-27 [Bookwyrm]: Happy Easter, and even though I have mixed feelings for this holiday (love is a cruel joke on some) huzzah for the ressurection of Christ

2005-03-28 [sugarplumfairy]: Happy holidays! :) that works too. :) which ever, i celebrate Easter, but I am open to all. :) *hugs to everyone*

2005-03-28 [sugarplumfairy]: hey bellezza dei mari.. do you go to ren faires???

2005-03-28 [sugarplumfairy]: OH, by the way Hive, you weren't stepping over me. LOL I was going to say the same thing about that doc, but then I kept reading the replies and things. .... but yeah.. I did agree with Hive, but if the situation was a good one, instead of a bad one like thought, then it's ok. .. LOL

2005-03-28 [hive]: thanks sugarplumfairy, i always want to get your oppion first since your the teacher, but i had to say something on that, happy beltane, easter, ect. to everyone, im a little late for the easter one, but i do try. i have a question, im fixin to go back out into the woods to do some enviromental work, and was wondering if there was a good herbal sunscreen out there.

2005-03-29 [Bookwyrm]: I would like to, however I have no possible way to go. Although I plan to go to the next one around here. ^-^

2005-03-29 [♥Flames♥]: (hope you don't mind [sugarplumfairy] as your teacher etc) But I do know a herbal sunscreen. It's by a brand called "Liz Earle", it's only made with plant oils with no chemicals or minerals. It's great for sensitive skin (like myself). I hope that's what you meant anyway. Here's the website for you to have a look: www.lizearle.com

2005-03-29 [pinefairy]: ooo nice

2005-03-29 [♥Flames♥]: It really is an top quality brand, but compared to some other brand which can be up to £50 for a pot of cream, it's pretty reasonable. The body wash they have is my fave thing (smells SO delicious!) and then 2nd id the "Bliss" body spray! hehe!

2005-03-30 [sugarplumfairy]: GREAT princess_katy!!!!!!! make sure that the sunscreen isn't to oily for your face though dear.. certain oils can break you out .. especially if you are going to be sweating and being out doors, pick one that is light on oils... OOOOO and one more thing.. mosquito spray to keep the bugs off of you :) also, if being out doors and working with nature wear cotton, and nothing clingy, a nice white cotton loose tee.. because something to tight can cause back acne, because it isn't breathable for the pores on the back. :) just some outdoorsy advice, but i'm sure u know that stuff. THANKS AGAIN PRINCESS_KATY!!!!

2005-03-30 [hive]: these are great ideas, thanks everyone!!;)

2005-03-30 [Bookwyrm]: ^-^ I have another question...though it's kind of embarrassing. I have really bad chest, shoulder and back acne, and I have an idea that it's my shampoo and conditioner...I read that somewhere once...but even after a thoroughly wash my chest shoulders and back the acne doesn't go away. I've even put a prescription cream on it and it still remains...any ideas?

2005-03-30 [hive]: if you don't mind saying, what is your age, i know hormons have alot to do with breakouts

2005-03-30 [hanhepi]: i have back acne too. never heard that it could be the shampoo/conditioner. (i'm 25. )

2005-03-31 [Bookwyrm]: 16, yes I read it somewhere. I can't remember where ^_^' But it used to cause my back and shoulder acne, and once I started washing after the conditioner it went away but it has recently returned.

2005-03-31 [♥Flames♥]: (hehe no worries!) I know it's not a cure for your acne but you could try washing your hair over the side of the bath using a shower attatchment...if you have one. I do that because some shampoos irritate my eczema. It may help clam it down/reduce the irritating.

2005-03-31 [Bookwyrm]: Yes I have eczema too, That could work ^-^ I'll try that ^-^

2005-03-31 [hive]: i use a great product called Mint Julep Masque, by Queen Helene, this stuff is great, it drys up the pore but doesn't dry your skin. also you can put it on indeviual acne to just dry them up, its very inexpensive so you can try it and not be out much. oh corse i would try a dab on your arm first to see if it irritates you, and don't get it in your eyes.

2005-03-31 [Bookwyrm]: Oh thank you ^-^

2005-04-02 [♥Flames♥]: Does anyone have any good Ideas for getting rid of black heads? I only have a few, round the sides of my nose, but still...they're v.annoying! >.<

2005-04-06 [hive]: i like to use a gental peel mask, the makers of the mint julep masque have one and it is very inexpensive

2005-04-07 [♥Flames♥]: cool! thank you! :D

2005-04-23 [♥Flames♥]: Does anyone think we should compare some fake tans and sun lotions as it's gradully getting towards that time of year???

2005-04-23 [DevilishlySweet]: Thats a good idea...I like having the tan look, but because of my pale skin, I burn too easy...can anyone recommend a fake tan?

2005-04-25 [Bookwyrm]: Oh, for those of you that can go to a tanning booth and have exzema I would recommend it. It can heal, prevent and sometimes cure exzema. It's really nice, and you can get a great tan ^-^

2005-04-25 [Bookwyrm]: Oh but be real careful, I'm cajun so I don't get sunburns, and the likelyhood of me getting skin cancer is about 1%, but make sure and read their warning signs especially if you're on medications because it's just as bad as staying out in the sun all day.

2005-04-26 [♥Flames♥]: cool

2005-05-25 [court_2008]: how do i sign up to be a student in this class?

2005-05-25 [Bookwyrm]: Edit the page and add you name underneath the others, don't forget to add the [] around your name ^-^

2005-05-26 [court_2008]: thanks

2005-05-26 [court_2008]: i am a medium skinned girl and i wud like to know what color of eyeshadow should i wear to make me look my best?

2005-05-26 [DevilishlySweet]: what color eyes/hair? Have to know that too, otherwise you could get some really bad suggestions >_< and thats never good!!!

2005-05-26 [court_2008]: ok i have brown hair and brown eyes and medium skin but u already knew my skin color. so what do u think?

2005-05-27 [DevilishlySweet]: seeing you have a dark complexion, you would want a color that would really *pop* on you, such as having a light blue/pink/purple, and accenting it with a little lipgloss...or you could play up the neutral tones by having a glitzy gold eye shadow

2005-05-27 [DevilishlySweet]: It really comes down to preference I guess

2005-05-27 [Flight of the Butterfly]: I agree with [DevilishlySweet], the colors she suggested would look beautiful

2005-05-28 [court_2008]: thank u

2005-05-28 [DevilishlySweet]: welcome ^_^

2005-05-28 [court_2008]: [DevilishlySweet] u are alot of help thanks

2005-05-29 [cuddle_buggie]: i want to join the class

2005-05-30 [court_2008]: do u know how to? or do u need help?

2005-05-31 [DevilishlySweet]: Join away, we're always willing to help ^_^

2005-06-01 [court_2008]: [cuddle_buggie] ask anything

2005-06-06 [sugarplumfairy]: I'M BACK LADIES! sorry.. i wasn't here for ages.. LOL Luv you all! yup.. ASK ANYTHING!

2005-06-06 [DevilishlySweet]: Don't worry about it! We've managed ^_^

2005-06-07 [ceridwen]: Hmmm...Maybe I shall join?

2005-06-08 [DevilishlySweet]: Go right ahead, the more the merrier! ^_^

2005-06-08 [ceridwen]: Um..having you started lessons? Cause I was wondering where they might be...

2005-06-08 [DevilishlySweet]: there hasn't been any official "lessons" yet, I dont know if there will be either...as long as I've been here we've basically been asking beauty questions and other members or [sugarplumfairy] have been answering them...

2005-06-17 [♥Flames♥]: I'm back too! lol. Been away for a while...distracted, by boys and exams! pfft anyhoo...how is everyone?

2005-06-18 [ceridwen]: Oh. How nice. So I can find out what eye color to use! Wh00t! *cough* Ahem.

2005-06-30 [court_2008]: now that it is summer i want to know if it is a bad idea to use a instant tanner such as a spray-on tan?

2005-06-30 [ceridwen]: I don't think so. But you probably shouldn't listen to me. I am strictly anit-tan.

2005-07-02 [Dil*]: Tan using the sun!!

2005-07-02 [ceridwen]: Eh sun tanning is bad. Causing cancer. Anyways, i hate being tan. Gah.. I love my pale skin...

2005-07-02 [Dil*]: meh, I'm mostly naturally tanned anyways...you only get cancer when you *really* go overboard tanning yourself in the sun

2005-07-02 [ceridwen]: Yeah, but stilll....What if I'm paranoid...Sheesh... But I just hate being tan. The whiter, the better. Except when it comes to Miller's legs. Gah...

2005-07-03 [Dil*]: :P I'm so tanned..actually I wish I were paler.

2005-07-06 [DevilishlySweet]: Eh, not me...depression follows closely with my palenes...

2005-07-06 [ceridwen]: Oh...Heh...Depression follows closely with my existence. Heh...That's what happens when you refuse meds and therapy. Heh. And rember kids, just say no to crack.

2005-07-06 [Dil*]: Damn, fucking, why do *I* never get therapy when I bloody need it.

2005-07-20 [hanhepi]: actually dil, you dont have to go over board with actual tanning to get the skin cancer. my grandaddy had melanomas, and he never layed out to get tan. it was all from working outside. my aunts and my mom have all had melanomas removed, and while they used to lay out to tan, they didnt go overboard. anytime you are exposed to the sun without protection you run the risk of getting skincancer one day.

2005-07-20 [hive]: thats true hanhepi, also if your around water and sun the chances are higher because the suns reflection is dubbled in or around water, but just us your common sense, when you feel you have had enough, you probly have, never go over, if you don't develope skin cancer your still going to regret how you look at 50, te he

2005-07-21 [Dil*]: ahh! *runs from the sun*

2005-10-19 [Bookwyrm]: Ahhh for once I feel like I don't need makeup to make me beautiful, my man in uniform -does- love me ^-^ -does happy dance-

2006-06-02 [maggie the pie]: I didn't know this class existed until like now.. could I possibly join late? I'm sixteen and never really wore make-up unless it was like uber important and then a friend did mine, I think it's time I start wearing it more. : ) I'm going to be a senior and want to change well my image.. sick of being well just there, you know?

2007-06-20 [maggie the pie]: So back up and running?

2007-06-20 [Sunrose]: It's the same as before, just cleaned up :)

2007-06-20 [maggie the pie]: Ohhh, so new teacher I take it? She hasn't been on in some time.

2007-06-20 [Sunrose]: I don't know if someone is willing to teach here :)

2007-06-22 [maggie the pie]: I'm not the best at all that or I would give it a try, or is there no hurt in atleast applying for the job? I mean, I liked having the chance to talk about such things, you know?

2007-06-22 [Sunrose]: If you think you have something to teach others :)

2007-06-25 [maggie the pie]: I'm going to have to think about that, not sure how I would approach this.
