'Cause acrylic wool (which is what you' want for a baby-blanket, since you need something that can just be stuffed in the wash and not worried about) is pretty cheap, and hooks are hardly expensive. I'm pretty sure I could buy a hook and all the yarn necessary to make a baby blanket for under £10.

Edit: sorry if the wool/yarn thing causes any confusion. Technically, if it's not made from animal fleece it's not wool, but just yarn. However, in England we just call it all wool. X_x

But I guess it's slightly derogatory - similar to "ruski" and stuff. But one can also use the term to refer to the country when used in the plural: if you say "meen jenkkeihin" you're saying "I'm going to the States".
