About the artist and why this picture was chosen for the daily picture:

When I come across a picture like this, I honestly have no idea where to begin. So many aspects of a great piece of art have been put into this piece. Not only is the style amazing, but it's fairly technically sound and symbolism has been carefully placed in amid these grotesque but alluring images. And, of course, there's a fascinating story on top of it all. Vance is the young man depicted in the picture, a cyborg with just enough human left inside of him. Most of his past and emotions have been forgotten, though, but still some remains. He was once a Knight of the Cross, one of twelve people assigned to go about covering up the evil doings of the now-corrupted church, but he knew what he was doing was wrong, he leaves. Naturally, though, one cannot just quit this job and walk away with a parting gift. The other eleven are now after Vance, to destroy him...[eraser head] cited that his intentions with this piece were to make it a sort of religious icon, and for his grim story, I believe he succeeded very well. It's a chilling and stunning picture.
