Daily Poets' Choice
What is this page? It is another way for members to contribute to the
daily poem. We have to read a lot of poetry and some pointers in the right direction would be welcome.
On the Daily Poets' Choice you can let us know which poem
you would feature if it was your pick and, equally important, why.
There are a few rules (or guidelines) to follow though.
Recommended poems should, obviously, abide by the
Daily Poem Rules. Both the poem and the choice will be removed if the poem doesn't.
There is a limit of three (3) choices per trimester, per person. You cannot recommend four (4) poems at the same time.
Recommended poems should have better reasons than 'I liked it' or 'My friend wrote it' etc. We don't request a full-length essay. Just summarise, in at most five (5) sentences, why you like it so much.
If someone has already listed your choice, please do not list it again. Add your reasons to the existing recommendation
, as well as your name.
The Daily Poets' Choice will be cleared out entirely at the end of the closed month.
So you're interested in recommending a poem, but don't know where to look? Check out the daily poem.
Example
Poem Title: Poetic Delusions
Poet(ess): [Sunrose]
Nominator(s): [2000HRS]
Why? Another inspiring poem. It's very romantic.. well in some way. Not a "I love you" romantic way, you get my point. And it's pretty sad. I don't usually write/read love poems and like them but it's just amazing.

(Remember to give both the title and the poet's name. Add your recommendations below the last one on the page.)
Poem Title: Imagine our Future
Poet(ess): [Bulma]
Nominator(s): [Corazie]
Why? It makes you actually think about what our future may actually be like. Can we change it or is it too late?
Poem Title: Ad in the Classifeds
Poet(ess): [Aruruen]
Nominator(s): [Girl of the Canopy]
Why? I think this poem is very charming; it is at once humorous, succinct, and original.
Poem Title: Untitled
Poet(ess): [Tyrana]
Nominator(s): [Nite_Owl]
Why? A very interesting poem, both deep and abstract, and very ominous. A great piece, with few words to muddle its meaning.
Poem Title: Fire and Brimstone
Poet(ess): [Robert Mischief]
Nominator(s): [Tyrana]
Why? I love poetry that plays with words in a way that is more physical than emotional. The alliteration is paired really well with the hidden acrostic style, and the result is creative and interesting.
Poem Title: Green Grasses Made Gold.
Poet(ess): [Thrice]
Nominator(s): [ChaseBABY.]
Why? Candid had written this poem after finding the two-faced personalities of the people surrounding her. I think that it has a beautiful message, and a deep meaning.
Poem Title: Abashed
Poet(ess) [dark starlight]
Nominator(s): [Tekkon KinKreet]
Why? Dark starlight is a wonderful poetess and she continually pumps out great writings. This writing is hearlfelt as usual, which is a must i believe in poems, even if it's not that good. This one though, really makes me believe that she is describing an event or her feelings on a person with heart.
Poem Title: Noisebox
Poet(ess): [Chetleon]
Nominator(s): [Dream Doll]
Why? I just read another poem by him (Mania in the Morning) and thought that this one was better than that one. Also I read some of his other poems and their great too.
Poem Title: To Look Upon A Lover
Poet(ess): [Nioniel]
Nominator(s): [W.L.]
Why? This poem contains a lyrical complexity that is uncommon and expressive. Unlimited by the rhyming form which many find passe, this poem expresses something powerful, intriguing and universal. It deserves attention.
Poem Title: Falling In December
Poet(ess): [Nioniel]
Nominator(s): [Tyy(:]
Why? There are so many ways to interpret this poem based on whether or not "you" and the "mysterious stranger" are one and the same or two different people. That type of ambiguity makes for great poetry; this is either a real sweet love poem or the most horrific of betrayals. That's cool!
Poem Title: Losing Time
Poet(ess): [Nioniel]
Nominator(s):[Tyy(:]
Why?It's a beautiful poem about love and perspectives...conjours up beautiful visuals.
Poem Title: A February Lament
Poet(ess): [Nioniel]
Nominator(s):[W.L.]
Why?Once again, "A Phoenix Rising" captures something vital and here the sense of conflict is wonderfully portrayed. The final lines of the poem make for an awesome twist that keeps the reader thinking.
Poem Title: Autumn Leaves
Poet(ess): [Dark Side of the Moon]
Nominator(s):[kamisch]
Why? Personification is used to the utmost sense of beauty in this poem of change for an old tree. The way she wears the seasons, as jewels, coats and other adornments, purely magical. You can really picture the whole thing (I'd really love to draw it now!). Besides, "crystalline cotton"...that's gorgeous.
Poem Title: Next week, Darling
Poet(ess): [kamisch]
Nominator(s):[Chetleon]
Why? It's me, so I'll be blunt, it's the only poem on that page worth a damn this round (--Including one's I've written). As a plus---I love the strong will with which the character is revealed, a brief burlesque into a sarcastic mind. Kamisch does a great job of exploring the irony of a topic like masculinity in her closing stanza. All in all, I've got to say it was well deserving of the time to re-read it twice.
Poem Title: Fraud
Poet(ess): [Din N Ginger]
Nominator(s):[Artemis Rising]
Why? Although it is a four line poem, it has a powerful message: you make the day as you wish. I'm also impressed with the mastery of the English language, grammar, and punctuation that [Din N Ginger] possesses, considering he is fully Nigerian. To grasp the complexity of English poetry, pentameter, and symbolism is a triumph alone.
Poem Title: Valkyrie
Poet(ess): [Deus Ex Taco]
Nominator(s):[Artemis Rising]
Why? I rarely find the subject of war worthy of poetry, but this poem is the exception. The timing in this poem is, intrinsically, what holds the complexity of resting war together and makes it a strong nomination. Having the immense pleasure of asking [Deus Ex Taco] about his inspiration, it was pleasantly surprising. But I won't spoil that for you, as I'm sure you'll want to ask when you feature him!
Poem Title: Beginning Fists
Poet(ess): [elf_fu]
Nominator(s): [Olwen]
Why? This is a very heartfelt poem, something obviously close to the writer's emotions. It gave me goosebumps!
Poem Title: To Diary, From Heart, Then Art Of All Things
Poet(ess): [davis van]
Nominator(s): [kamisch]
Why?: It's that essence of really getting into a writer's heart, their soul...and the way an idea will form for them (us!). "It begins as a storm" ...and yes, it really does. Our words are our children, and they really do tend to have a life of their own once we let them out of the box! And this poem corrals those carefree words briefly to remind us what they are, what they mean. I'm so in love.
Poem Title: Written by [Mortified Penguin]
Poet(ess): [Mortified Penguin]
Nominator(s): [Mortified Penguin]
Why?: In this brilliant, yet short poem by [Mortified Penguin], the author explores a number of topics, like morality, the identity of the self, and even the nature of existence. This ontological masterpiece questions the necessity of existence, while simultaneously defining Being itself. It's masterfully crafted and takes the reader on an adventure through the mind, leaving them filled with meaning and questions. How can such grounding of the epistemological function be articulated without assuming an a priori and unwarranted existential premise? Why does this poem make me so moist? These are the kind of questions left behind that we can never really comprehend or understand or chew. But yet, after reading this poem, they must be asked and you'll be left wanting more. I highly recommend this poem and give it a solid 4/10!
Poem Title: The lITTle poem in propour ENgliSh
Poet(ess): [Mortified Penguin]
Nominator(s): [Mortified Penguin]
Why?: I liked it. My friend wrote it.
