FAQ

Add questions and answers here. If you want to add a second answer to a question, feel free to do so!

Q: What is NaNoWriMo?
A: Read the information on <http://www.nanowrimo.org>, it's all explained there! In short, NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is an idea created by a guy called Chris Baty. The goal for each participant is to write a novel consisting of at least 50000 words during November. NaNoWriMo is held each year. Participation is free. /[peura]

Q: Should I join NaNoWriMo?
A: If you go to <http://www.nanowrimo.org>, read what it is about and think "this I must do!" then you should definitely join. If you're indifferent, you can join and do a fair attempt. If you hate writing and think that this is the most silly idea you've ever seen, you can join anyway and make an attempt, so that you can prove that it truly is a silly idea. /[peura]

2004-12-30 [Stormy]: Well done, peura! I barely even started this year let alone finished.

2004-12-31 [Arbor]: Congrats, it is your third year, huh, peura? :) It's okay, stormy, you have a long time to prepare for next year. You, too, Logan ;)

2004-12-31 [Kaeirdwyn]: I never wrote any more after that terrific night. Bleh. It wasn't creative burn out, just my real life so interfered and took over that I could never find any, and I mean ANY, time to write. I will finish next year however~!

2005-09-09 [peura]: *dusts off this page, eagerly waiting for November*

2005-09-09 [Arbor]: ooo!! You, too?! I am getting very anxious too!!! :)

2005-10-04 [RiverStar]: wak! it's back another year! *starts running in circles* so much to do! so little time! must prepare! ahhh!!!!!!!!!

2005-10-04 [LustForLike]: Preparation is for the weak.

2005-10-05 [peura]: Signing up has started att http://www.nanowrimo.org ! And don't forget to add your name on the wiki too :-)

2005-10-05 [Arbor]: So, Logan...you ARE saying you are weak, right? ;) *points up to description*

2005-10-06 [LustForLike]: I couldn't help it! I already had an idea! If it makes any difference, I may end up scrapping it when the clock strikes midnight at the start of November 1...

2005-10-09 [RiverStar]: *happy dance* Yeah iippo! Another one of my converts! You shall forever be a nanoer! Mwuahaha!

2005-10-10 [iippo]: XD I was talking about this to Lobsang and s/he was saying "there should be an ET-branch of nano" and I said "well lets make one in, say... nanowrimo@wiki" and whaddaya know, it exists! XD

2005-10-10 [iippo]: Makes me feel unoriginal. :P

2005-10-10 [ArchangelGabriel]: Lobsang is a he ^_^ I've got a wiki for people with Writer's Block, i was just thinking, it might be useful for any sufferers here....

2005-10-29 [Arbor]: I can barely wait out the weekend!! Is everyone else ready?

2005-10-29 [Hackworth]: NO WAY!

2005-10-30 [LustForLike]: I've thrown away my plot, my characters, and a fair portion of my free time in November. I'm more ready than I've ever been!

2005-10-31 [iippo]: Graaa..... Tomorrow!!!

2005-10-31 [peura]: Yay! Tomorrow! :-)

2005-10-31 [RiverStar]: GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

2005-10-31 [Hackworth]: ACK!

2005-10-31 [Linderel]: Ack indeed. I started feeling faintly panicky this morning.

2005-10-31 [LustForLike]: 878 words! Sometimes it's good being in the first timezone in the world.

2005-10-31 [Hackworth]: I have so much to do in the next 24 hours, it's insane. And it doesn't help to think that it's going to be about the same for the next month.

2005-10-31 [Galenfea]: Help! Only a few more hours!

2005-11-01 [Arbor]: Oh, so anxious...so ready...so dizzy...

2005-11-03 [Ghost Lilly]: ooohhh... Can I join?

2005-11-03 [iippo]: If you want to join the go quickly to www.nanowrimo.org and sign up there, and start writing your friggin' novel, we only have 27 days left!!! *panicpanic* X_x

2005-11-03 [Linderel]: I don't have time for NaNo this week, I have so much school stuff to take care of. *cries* I'll have to sprint after the rest starting Monday...oh dear. ._.

2005-11-03 [Arbor]: I am there with you on the catch-up. It's a horrible feeling.

2005-11-03 [iippo]: I feel horrible for just missing out yesterday... Damn that lovelife and the romantic attempts of men! :P

2005-11-03 [Hackworth]: I feel your pain... I have barely a thousand words, and I keep rewriting my first couple of paragraphs :P I'm not going anywhere!

2005-11-03 [Arbor]: Hackworth, a word of advice? As hard as it may be, you have to pound out the words now, and edit later. Editting too much during this month will only hold you back. ;)

2005-11-03 [iippo]: That is a good idea. And I heard someone mention NaNoEdMo in the nanowrimo-forums... ..."Editing month?"

2005-11-03 [Hackworth]: next month, I know... but I'm too Obsessive-Compulsive :P

2005-11-03 [Arbor]: Yes, and I'd never make it through editing month. You have to be strong and fight your compulsion!! :)

2005-11-03 [Hackworth]: I'll try my best :D

2005-11-04 [LustForLike]: What you do if you find yourself rewriting anything is this: prise off the delete and backspace keys. If you can't bring yourself to do that, then just don't use them. You can still rewrite a paragraph or two if you feel like it, just don't delete the old paragraph. Keep it there to boost your word count - or, if you want a more noble reason, as a record of what the paragraph was like before; you never know, you might need it later.

2005-11-04 [peura]: No editing in November! You have 11 months to edit your novel afterwards (before next NaNoWriMo starts), but you have only on month to write it...

2005-11-04 [iippo]: Hehe, yes! So you end up sentences that repeat the same word three or four times and it is only then when you realise how limited your vocabulary is... -)_-

2005-11-05 [Ghost Lilly]: I joined the site, I ment can I join the wiki? I only have like 1,738 words or somthing like that. Oo

2005-11-07 [Linderel]: I giiive uupp. ;_; I have no time whatsoever for NaNo. How irksome.

2005-11-07 [Arbor]: Oh, no! You shouldn't give up!

2005-11-07 [Ghost Lilly]: I dont have anythime eather... -_-

2005-11-08 [Arbor]: That does not mean give up. You need to keep trying, at least see what you can come up with by the end of the month...

2005-11-08 [iippo]: And the second week is the time when everyone wants to give up. It's the trap-week, you just need to push through. Remember it doesn't matter if you don't get all the words as long as you last til the end!

2005-11-09 [Ghost Lilly]: Ill try, but Im not doing so great.... O-o; sooo... much... stuff....

2005-11-09 [Arbor]: I know, I know. That's all you can do is try!! :)

2005-11-26 [Galenfea]: I finished! I'm a freakin' NOVELIST! Be encouraged!

2005-11-26 [Arbor]: Congratulations! *hugs all winners thus far*

2005-11-26 [Ghost Lilly]: OO you still have a freaking week too!!!!!

2005-11-27 [peura]: I validated at 51k yesterday evening! *celebrates* The story isn't quite finished though. I might be able to finish it before the end of November.

2005-11-28 [Arbor]: That's great! I can't wait to see how many of us make it...looking for that purple line...

2005-11-29 [Ghost Lilly]: I didnt make it I know, but Im going to try again next year when I have more freedom to act crazy and such. ^-^V

2005-11-29 [iippo]: Same here, life just over-whelmed me.

2005-11-29 [Arbor]: Hit 5ok last night, but I am not validated yet. I need to write more!!!

2005-11-29 [Galenfea]: *hugs the new entrants to the winners' circle*

2005-11-30 [LustForLike]: Validate as soon as you hit 50K - it will save you time when all the last-minute validations are making the NaNo server as slow as a fig on a very hot day. You can still add to your word count even after you're validated.

2005-12-02 [Arbor]: I cannot believe its over! :'( I feel lost without it now!! Lost!!!!

2005-12-03 [LustForLike]: Laura! There is no need to feel lost, join in this! http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=isadg (any others welcome too, of course)

2006-10-04 [Ghost Lilly]: Its starting again! Just next month! who is so syced!

2006-10-04 [Arbor]: I am e'cited, so e'cited! Ready to take it on! ^.^

2006-10-05 [peura]: I can't wait! I'll probably write a few words on another novel while waiting for November to begin, just to calm my nerves :-)
What's everybody writing this year? I haven't quite decided yet, but I'm thinking of a youth novel in a SciFi setting...

2006-10-05 [Linderel]: I only know my novel title, I've had it in mind for months, since my muse decided it was to be the title of my NaNo... 'Awakening Cerberus'. I guess it'll be modern fantasy.

2006-10-05 [Ghost Lilly]: Sounds cool. XD

2006-10-06 [Arbor]: I have always wanted to write something to do with vampires, my own twist, of course. ^.^ I am working on a story now that I wish could have waited until November. But my muse raised his head, and I could not ignore!!
Anyone trying to recruit new wirters in their area? It's hard work.

2006-10-06 [peura]: I'm ML for my area, so I suppose I should be recruiting new writers... but usually we get so many new people every year anyway, so I just concentrate on trying to get the new people to participate in events and stuff.

2006-10-06 [Ghost Lilly]: I recuited my room mate. Xd thats about it though... lol

2006-10-08 [Arbor]: I get the same thing from everyone around my area of North Eastern Ohio: "Oh, I can't write!" or "I'm not a writer! I'd never make it!" It's so frustrating! >.< They act like it's some big mystery, writing...

2006-10-09 [LustForLike]: I've tried to get a few newcomers into it, but they always complain about not being able to write, or about only being able to write short things. I need to work on my badgering skills...

2006-10-09 [Linderel]: I seem to be able to only write short things, too. Anything longer than my usual vignettes seems to either fall apart or be left aside, to be 'continued when I get the inspiration to do so'. That's why this is a huge challenge. xD

2006-10-13 [Arbor]: [LustForLike] is the one who got me involved!!  ^.^ I am forever grateful to him. *hugs* But I love all nanowrimo participants who give it a go!

2006-10-22 [moonlitawakening]: meep meep meep meep.... counting down the days, counting down the days... OOH WHY ISN'T IT HERE YET, CUUUURSES

2006-10-26 [peura]: Hey, [LustForLike], I didn't notice until now that you're the one who started the Trebuchet club (I don't always read the author names on the postings on those forums...)! 'Cos it is you who goes under the same name at the NaNoWriMo forums, I assume? :-) (I'm going by my first name, noora, on the NaNoWriMo site. I registered "peura" at first, but then people tried to pronounce it at the meetups and I realised that it's a bad idea...)

2006-10-26 [LustForLike]: I can't take all the credit for the Trebuchet Club - I started the thread on NaNo, but it was an idea FiddlerDragon (on the NaNo forums) originally came up with. We'd discussed it beforehand, and decided whoever got to the forums first once they re-opened should start the club.

It's awesome you've joined (sort of, but I'm sure you'll figure out how to fit it into sci-fi (my novel is sci-fi too)) (finally found your post - I tend not to look at author names either), though! It's so cool to see how many people have joined.

2006-10-26 [Linderel]: Next time you talk about specific threads, please tell the location to the other people, too. Please? :P

2006-10-26 [peura]: Sorry :P It's in "Reaching 50,000!" :-)

2006-10-30 [Arbor]: I do not think I have ever felt more ready for NaNoWriMo! We can do it guys, go us!!

Yep, that's um... my pep talk for today. Even though we're still waiting... o.o

2006-10-31 [moonlitawakening]: I know, I'm really revved up for it, I'm antsy and and VROOM!

2006-10-31 [Linderel]: Tomorrow. Eeeeeek. o_O

2006-10-31 [Arbor]: Since I cannot get to the nanowrimo forums right now: What's everyone writing this year? Any particular genres?

2006-11-01 [moonlitawakening]: 3 and a half hours and counting!!!!

2006-11-01 [Ghost Lilly]: T_T omg!!! Im... so happy... and so sad... and stressed and... *emotonal overload* X.x

2006-11-01 [Arbor]: Begun! Yes, this is fabulous! We're all in this together, [Ghost Lilly]!! ^.^

2006-11-01 [Linderel]: Everybody come to the forum as well, so I don't have to be there all alone! :P

2006-11-01 [moonlitawakening]: Good luck everyone, I hope inspiration is flying through all of your fingers!

2006-11-03 [Arbor]: Good luck, [Tigers and Trees]! It's great that you joined all of us mad folk! Nanowrimo is a great experience, I know you can do it! ^.^

2006-11-03 [Tigers and Trees]: Thanks for the encouragement. I'm up to 10000 words already and still chugging on!

2006-11-04 [moonlitawakening]: Awesome job, emily!! Keep it up!

WHOOO WHOOO

2006-11-05 [Linderel]: Wait a minute... Why is this not exported? Ahhhh! Must fix! *click*

2006-11-06 [dayah]: Well this sounds interesting..but I don't know if I could finish such a novel with in one month. my Story I have been writing, which is only barely being finished, has taken me 10 years to get this far..lol..oh my.

2006-11-06 [Arbor]: That is why you should try to reach for this challenge!! ^.^

Halfway there now! How is everyone else doing?? I cannot believe it is only/already day six!! O.O

2006-11-06 [dayah]: Ah...well I promised myself I would have this rough draft done by the end of the year...so hopefully I will get there if I would just write it instead of thinking of all the scew ups I have..lol..thas been my problem, I keep tyring to re write it over and over.

2006-11-06 [Arbor]: Have you joined nanowrimo? Or are you just going to write the draft out?

2006-11-06 [dayah]: Well I just found it today...and seems I missed the sign up for this year...so I won't be doing it no...but I am writing it out...working getting to the end right now...still a little ways to go yet though.

2006-11-06 [Arbor]: Oh, well, good luck writing it out! You should join us next year. Or, you could even just for FUN (^.^) try to get to 50k iwth your story idea. Sympathetic nanowrimo?? O.o

2006-11-06 [dayah]: oh I am sure I will get that much....if it ever gets finished I am sure it won't end at one story...but I will have to try for next year....

2006-11-07 [peura]: There's a feature somewhere on the nanowrimo.org website where you can enter your e-mail address to have them send an e-mail to remind you next year when it's time to sign up :-) (and no, they won't send all sorts of junk, just that reminder)

2006-11-07 [dayah]: oh okay...will have to do that.

2006-11-10 [LustForLike]: You haven't missed the sign-up for this year. They accept new entrants right up until November 30! It's still early enough that you have a pretty good shot at finishing if you sign up now, too. Last year I finished in 20 days, which is about what you have left.

2006-11-10 [dayah]: hum...okdiay...will have to do that...Thanks.

2006-11-20 [moonlitawakening]: HOW IS EVERYONE DOING?!

2006-11-20 [dayah]: doing well thank you..hehe.:)

2006-11-21 [Arbor]: Awesome! It's really flying by this year!

2006-11-28 [moonlitawakening]: It really is!! Can you believe Thursday is the final day?

2006-11-28 [peura]: I've finished and validated mine :-)

2006-11-28 [Linderel]: I'm still only a bit over 10k - I so won't be finishing on time, but hey, at least I tried this year. ^_^

2006-11-28 [dayah]: well since I know you all like writing and all I found a new site the other day..kind of interesting..thought I would share. http://www.mernac.com I did sign up this year, Way to far behind but making lead way...but I will be doing almost the same thing this month comming up, for I am trying to finish it by the end of the year.

2007-10-05 [Triola]: The sign up for the 2007 writing-binge has started! :D Page update, mayhap?

2007-10-05 [Linderel]: Hmm, a month since [peura] was around... :P
Oh well, if anyone else doesn't do it before me, I could update this weekend. :P

2007-10-05 [Triola]: Hehe, I could always do it as well, as long as I'm certain I'm not stepping on anyone's toes :P

2007-10-05 [Mystereality]: i am participating this year. it is my first year!

2007-10-09 [Arbor]: I cannot wait for NaNoWriMo! College and life in November is going to be crazed.

2007-10-09 [Mystereality]: is this page going to be updated for this year? can we add our names up? I am so eager to start this! it should be great.

2007-10-14 [LustForLike]: I've taken the liberty of updating this page for 2007. Add your names, everyone!

2007-10-16 [ArchangelGabriel]: Hiya, sorry, i just noticed the comma on the first question has been grouped as part of the hyper-link, stopping it from working correctly...

2007-10-17 [Mystereality]: i took the liberty of fixing the issue with the comma. I hope that is fine.

2007-10-19 [Kaeirdwyn]: WRI MO WRI MO (Chanting gets me in the mood...for writing of course!!!! So happy to finally be doing wrimo again..and of course, the excitement leads to nervousness and all those feelings of oh my gosh can I do it again? Will I make it this time around?? *laughs* glad the rest of you are here!

2007-10-23 [moonlitawakening]: We are down to the final days before the start, is anyone nervous? I'm anxious to start, 10k in a day, anyone? ;)

2007-10-23 [Arbor]: Is [peura] okay? Does anyone know... she's been gone for 48 days. :(

2007-11-01 [little flag]: Woohoo, November 1st! *crazed grinning at the thought of all those words left to write*

2007-11-02 [Fireblade K'Chona]: HURRAHS! It's begun again! (oh, and hi everybody!)

I hit 2K today. Almost 3K. But I do have homework to do, so I'm going to finish that before trying to bust 3K.

This is my first time doing it in first person, though. I don't write in first person much. I'm a third-person kind of girl. What about you guys?

2007-11-02 [Veltzeh]: I like omniscient third person more than first person, but first person does have some advantages. That said, I'm doing mine in third person. I might do another story too, which would be in first person, and a third one that would again be in third person. X)
Don't get me started on personal pronouns! :D

2007-11-02 [Linderel]: Omniscient third person here o/
And POV switches like woah.
I reached 3k last night, I'll be trying for 5k today.

2007-11-02 [little flag]: Yikes! I don't even have 2k yet o.0 You guys make me feel like a slacker! XD If only I wasn't rushing to get this spanish composition done by its 2p.m. duedate...ah, well. The joys of homework and procrastination.
I try to avoid first person... it always ends up sounding just like me talking, I lose all sense of character-ness as seperate from me-ness... I suppose it helps I have about five POV's to write for this Nano project *grins wickedly* it's good to be omniscient ^_^

2007-11-02 [Mystereality]: I am doing first person view in my novel, but i normally write in third person limited or omniscient. I have 2k, and i have been writing exclusively between midnight and 1AM where i am. it's not the best, but it is funny, and hard to describe. An interesting novel, and interesting experience.

2007-11-03 [Kaeirdwyn]: I am an omniscient third person fanatic...however I have a book I planned to write in Nano that I had written a small intro for...and was all set to write my wonderful dark fantasy novel...all set..right>? Set. So I sat down at 12:01am and wrote a freaking suspense thriller. Yep...it's something I have been working on in my head for two years and also had a small intro on...lo and behold..I have never had the muse steal a story out of my mouth so to speak and stick in an entirely different one. It was somewhat frustrating for a couple of moments...however I just went with it and now have 3801 wds and plan to have much more by the end of the night (well the early am that is).

2007-11-06 [Fireblade K'Chona]: broke 5k. I hurt. -dies-

2007-11-06 [Linderel]: I'm trying to catch up to the recommended schedule - 8,5k now, attempting to break 10k tonight.

2007-11-06 [little flag]: I think I'm falling rapidly behing... having had no sleep for twenty four hours, I didn't anywhere near close to my personal goal for the day yesterday, and today, real life intrudes... I have three exams to be studying for tomorrow and several other homework-y things to be thinking of, and a massive headache that is defying all medicinal attempts to make it go away... And we're only six days in... o.0 I feel overwhelmed.

2007-11-06 [LustForLike]: It's natural to feel overwhelmed at the beginning, when it seems you have a long way to go. If you don't have much time to write, try to get a few words down - don't worry if you can't get 1,667 words every day. If you only get half that, it will make it easier to catch up later, when you (hopefully!) have some more free time. The important thing is to keep going, otherwise you lose momentum.

2007-11-07 [Veltzeh]: I made a breakthrough when I decided that I don't need to set MY goal to 50000. 15000 for the win! I've managed to come close to 10000 by now. :) (Probably shows that I should've set my goal a bit higher... on the other hand, I didn't think I'd drop that one course I was on, so now I have over 10 more hours of "free" time per week.)

2007-11-07 [Fireblade K'Chona]: meh, I'm still behind, but I have 13 gifts from the NaNo gods (aka days off school/half days) this month, so I think I'll be okay.

2007-11-07 [Linderel]: Reached 10k <3

2007-11-07 [Fireblade K'Chona]: congrats! -cheers- I hit 6K today and I want to hit 7K before I go to bed.

2007-11-08 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I hit 9K, but I'm rather sad because I just killed off a character I really liked.

-sigh-

2007-11-09 [Kaeirdwyn]: I hit 9 thou and then invented a sister that shouldn't be there, cuz it is about a serial killer that kills off ALL the family...so how can she have a sister??? hmmm runaway? feud between mom and dad? That makes perfect family look bad...*smile* gotta figure this out.

2007-11-09 [Fireblade K'Chona]: broke 10k! YAAAAAY!

...on the other hand, I broke it writing the funeral for the character I really liked. -sigh-

She went down heroically, though. And took out a sea serpent when she went.

2007-11-09 [little flag]: *headdesk*

i'm 14k in and would kill myself if i gave up, but literally, have no plot, and nothing to write next. and my last few hundred words are so ugly... forced, and just don't seem right. if only plot idea grew on trees.

2007-11-09 [Veltzeh]: When all else fails, write sex! XD

2007-11-09 [Triola]: Or, kill someone off :3 then you can totally angst the rest of the characters :D

2007-11-09 [Veltzeh]: Ooh, ooh! My absolute favorite is ADDING a new character. Granted, all of my stories end up being character fests with at least 4 main characters and 10 side characters, but well...

2007-11-09 [Triola]: That's when you start killing them off ;)

2007-11-09 [little flag]: Thanks for the suggestions. ;) I'm seriously thinking about adding a few more characters... because six protagonists isn't enough... *rolls eyes* My brainwave last night was to (re)write the how-the-characters-meet scenes. The word count's still going up then, even if the story isn't -exactly- moving forward... but it can't anyway until these random people have some sort of established relationship with each other, so, yeah. Maybe a random meteor will come out of nowhere and wipe half of them out... or there'll be a random zombie attack.... ahh, cooky ideas. gotta love 'em.

2007-11-09 [Veltzeh]: Nooo! My little characters! It'd be like erasing a picture one's worked on for so long—granted, it's also been scanned, copied, colored and redrawn, but still. >_>

2007-11-09 [Arbor]: Is anyone else terribly behind in their word count? I should be scared, but I'm not. Even at 11k, I still know where I want the story to go. How is everyone feeling about their novels so far??

2007-11-09 [Linderel]: I just got to 12k, so I'm behind more than I would like to be, but it's not time to panic yet. :P

2007-11-09 [little flag]: my word count is right on... but only because i haven't gone back and deleted all the now-useless scenes... but i'm still happy because the breakthrough has finally come! ladies and gentlemen, i am guilty--of PLOT! *is tickled pink at finally knowing where this mess of words is going*

2007-11-09 [Linderel]: I've been guilty of a plot since the beginning! xD
Well... sorta. I made lots of notes and planned for a few scenes and had a general idea of where I was going even before I started. But stuff keeps getting added, and some scenes aren't where I thought they would be. :)

2007-11-09 [LustForLike]: I'm only just over 10k, and my plot is running out of steam. I'm going to have to pull a magical plot replacement out of a hat in order to continue, I think.

2007-11-10 [Fireblade K'Chona]: Drop a metric tonne of herring on them.

(This is a metaphorical metric tonne, by the way.)

Ones I've used in the past are bear attacks, avalanches, earthquakes, villages of suspiciously happy people, and randomly inflicting characters with injuries.

2007-11-10 [little flag]: "villages of suspicoiusly happy people" LOL ^_^

2007-11-10 [Veltzeh]: Hey, I think I can't kill characters off because I can't handle death. :o I have no experience of it...

2007-11-10 [Fireblade K'Chona]: in the last three NaNo's I've done I've wound up with a trio of main characters. I always initially planned to kill off one of them and I never could bring myself to. >.<

So I'm carrying it through this year! Honest! Although this time I've really only got one MC. But I'm killing off side characters with no qualms.

And aside: don't you hate it when people in RL mock you for your username? My dad just said mine in this really incredulous tone because I wasn't quick enough to minimize the window. >.<

Argh. This is why I like Elftown. No matter how weird your name is, people don't blink at it.

</aside>

2007-11-10 [Linderel]: I haven't received any teasing about my ET username... but my other nickname, which also happens to be my favourite, just is very easy to make fun of: Lami.

2007-11-10 [Veltzeh]: Indeed... I get called "gruel" way too often. >_>

2007-11-11 [Fireblade K'Chona]: oh, my ACTUAL name I get mocked for all the time. Let's just say it sucks to have an adjective for a last name. Particularly if you don't fit aforesaid adjective.

Whereas here, the most I'll get is 'KFC' when JeesumCrowe is mocking me. (a few of my friends are allowed to call me that with my permission. but you have to get permission first.)

2007-11-11 [Veltzeh]: I don't get mocked for my real name. Too many people mistype my family name as "Lehtonen" though. :P

2007-11-13 [Tigers and Trees]: No Nano for me this year. Too much happening. But I wish you all luck!

2007-11-13 [Fireblade K'Chona]: 19K.

I want to hit 25k by Wednesday. That's the 14th. Which means I'll be on-schedule.

2007-11-13 [Linderel]: I hit 14k last night. I'm way behind, but I still have hope. :P

2007-11-13 [Fireblade K'Chona]: hey, there's definitely hope for you!

my goal is 25k by the 15th.

2007-11-15 [Mystereality]: haha, im out of it. i have a lil over 5k. i have been busy with other things.

2007-11-18 [little flag]: 30K! 30K! *does happy dance*

2007-11-20 [moonlitawakening]: i suck this year :(

2007-11-20 [Arbor]: NOOO!! If we do ten thousand words a day, we can still make it!! =D

2007-11-20 [Mystereality]: i dont really care anymore. i have much more important things in my life than to write a novel. ive given up basically, and i dont expect to be much past 10k.

2007-11-20 [Linderel]: I've given up on 50k, but I will finish the novel whether it's in November or not. :)
I've taken 30k as my personal goal for the month, though.

2007-11-22 [Fireblade K'Chona]: 35k today!

2007-11-23 [little flag]: yay 35k! *celebrates with you*

2007-11-29 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I FINISHED!

-does the Purple Bar dance-

2007-11-29 [little flag]: congratulations!

2007-11-29 [Arbor]: Hooray for the purple bar!! ^_^

2007-11-30 [little flag]: I did it! 50k exactly! Huzzah!

2007-11-30 [Veltzeh]: 26884! :D

2007-12-01 [Fireblade K'Chona]: -opens champagne-

2008-01-03 [Kaeirdwyn]: Forgot to stop by and say YES!!! I DID IT!!! SO I thought I would say it now...however...my hard drive crapped out...and is in the process of being saved by my oh so wonderful husband who is a computer technician. However I am on pins and needles since my only copy of my nano novel is on there...everyone send a quick prayer or whatever up to the universe for me, okay!??!!? thanks!

2008-10-14 [little flag]: So.... who's up for NaNo 2008?

2008-10-14 [Fireblade K'Chona]: me! totally!

2008-10-14 [LustForLike]: I'm in!

2008-10-14 [little flag]: Yay!! Here's hoping for an absoulutely epic month this time around... For some reason the idea of a second NaNo seems maybe more manageable than the current second year of college eating my lif lol.

2008-10-14 [Linderel]: I'll be staying on the sidelines this year, cheering. :)

2008-10-31 [little flag]: Woo hoo!! Midnight tonight!! For once I'm not the only participant at my college, we're throwing a kickoff party in our Halloween costumes at 12 a.m.! Now if only I had a plot... (If anyone's interested in my AWESOME costume, I put pictures on my profile! ^_^)

2008-10-31 [Linderel]: Partial change of mind :P

2008-11-02 [Arbor]: Go, us! Who's got a fabulous start already?! ^_^

2008-11-02 [little flag]: ...This is horrible. I've got nothing. I'm a full day behind. Great.

2008-11-03 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I didn't get to write at all on day 1, but I was on the train 4 hours this morning and got 6000 words down.

2008-11-03 [little flag]: Nice! I think I'm going to be cramming tonight after work... I've only got enough for one day, much less three!

2008-11-05 [Fireblade K'Chona]: So in mine I've got these two main characters who are best friends, and they're very close.

And they just had this fight that I totally wasn't expecting, and now it's horribly tense and awkward.

Still, it's very verbosely tense and awkward!

2008-11-05 [Veltzeh]: Title fix!

2008-11-05 [SAHS]: I cannot believe I haven't found this page in the 4 years I've been doing NaNo! Shame on LFL for sharing NaNoWriMo.org but not the ET club with me, shame.

2008-11-05 [Kaeirdwyn]: I will be cramming tonight. I need to catch up. I have no title, but I have a great premise...and start. I just need to get it going.
Welcome to the Page!!!
Now as far as December goes, we should all meet here in December to do rewrites... every year someone says this and it falls through. It is a good idea though.

2008-11-06 [SAHS]: Yes, it is. I'm in! - I steamed along for the first five days of NaNo, and as of right now I have a little over 29K to my wordcount. I've hit one heck of a block though, and my idea to fix it involves a massive rewrite of the last eight chapters or so. Let this be yet another lesson encouraging folk to pace themselves.

2008-11-08 [Kaeirdwyn]: Don't take out your eight chapters!!!!! THey count for your word count...really
Just start a new chapter that says New CHapter such and such and start over from where you need to. COunt ALL the words you typed before though... It still was done during nano!!!
By the way...what is everyone's names on NaNo?? How about anyone who wants to can put their name on nano here so we can find each other there if names are different I mean....? Any takers?

2008-11-08 [Kaeirdwyn]: By the way, mine is the same...
Kaeirdwyn

2008-11-08 [Veltzeh]: I'm Veltzeh on nanowrimo.org, but I've yet to find out how to search people by name. XD

2008-11-08 [SAHS]: My NaNo name is SheAndHerSin. :) Google search workds pretty well, I think I found both of you. :)

2012-10-27 [Veltzeh]: Hey! NaNoWriMo 2012 is almost here! I'm thinking of updating this page, and I guess I will, soon.

2012-10-29 [iippo]: Y'know what...? I'mma gonna give it a stab. That story is just hanging out there in my brain and not getting written because I'm a lazy. And if nothing else will come out of it, words will that can then later be arranged into the correct form. :D

2012-10-29 [Veltzeh]: Woohoo!
