2006-05-09 [Nocternity S.]: i dont understand why is this such a big deal. i didnt do anything wrong they have done the same thing to me too

2006-05-09 [Calico Tiger]: This page is currently under the supervision of [Patri] as she is the translator for the news for this language :) Until such time as [Hedda] let's us know otherwise exactly how to handle someone making changes that aren't necessary, a password will be on this page :)

2006-05-09 [Nocternity S.]: they should have told me that, they changed it once on one that i did, and [Sunrose] told me that they could do that, after that i didnt care as much as she is? i dont understand why is a big deal.

2006-05-09 [Sunrose]: Changes should only be made when it concerns mistakes, which wasn't the case here. Don't make changes because you personally like some word better than another, just so you can add your name next to the translation. THAT is why it is a big deal :) // An example: The translation of the word Council. You can see the proper translation that should be used is Concejo, because Concejo is also the word used on the Council-badge. Not Concilio.

2006-05-09 [All_Most PUNK]: Besides that, it's nice when the translations that you upload are correct and don't have things like "¡Entradas creativas que muestren como un Uniforme-Guardia se parecen a! ".

2006-05-09 [Nocternity S.]: but they have done that to me, and the words are the same but different. besides they are words that dont sound right since theres too many places where they speak spanish for example in puerto rico, they use word that in mexico dont use or in spain, and most of the population in united states are from mexico... and theres lot people here from u.s. i just thought that some of the words would sound better in another way. Im sorry if i took somehow a privilege from someone, and whats wrong with "¡Entradas creativas que muestren como un Uniforme-Guardia se parecen a! ".

2006-05-10 [Patri]: What's wrong with "¡Entradas creativas que muestren como un Uniforme-Guardia se parecen a!"???!!!! Oh come on!!! That's a terrible translation and a native spanish speaker can barely understand that phrase...

2006-05-10 [Nocternity S.]: are you a spanish teacher? do you know all the ways you can say something in other places but where you live in? If i knew i was going to cause such a Big Drama, i wouldnt have done anything

2006-05-10 [Sunrose]: That sentence should be: 'Entradas creativas que muestren a qué se parece un Uniforme de Guardia' or 'Entradas creativas que muestren cómo es un Uniforme de Guardia' according to [Acronymous] aka [Anonymous]. An ex-Guard who lives in Spain. So if 2 Argentinians and a Spaniard with Spanish as their mother tongue conclude your Spanish translations are not of very good quality I am more inclined to believe them over you.

2006-05-10 [Sunrose]: [Acronymous] writes: It is the classical problem with translating: the verb "to be" can translate into Spanish in this case as "es", "está" and "parece". Only "es" makes sense in this context. It does not apply because of any specific rule of the Spanish language, it is a matter of context and practice knowing what to use in each case. This proves the translator (you) is an Anglo-speaker, with good Spanish as a secondary language, but needing more practical use of the language itself.

2006-05-10 [Sunrose]: Lastly: You're the one making a spectacle out of yourself.

2006-05-10 [Nocternity S.]: what's the perfect way to write that sentence then? and why are you more inclined to believe them more over me?

2006-05-10 [Nocternity S.]: I changed "Felicitaciones" for "Felicidades" because felicitaciones is more likely to be used as one word after a sentence, for example, "Un nuevo bebe! Felicitaciones!" and "Felicidades por haber ganado tu medalla" which is more likely to be used in a sentence, my aunt (which is a spanish teacher) told me that. oh and Felicitaciones is more likely too, to be used in a postcard, about the word "Consejo" and "Concilio" the word consejo is more likely to be used as when your giving an advice to someone and Concilio as a group of people. and i repeat likely because i dont know how they use it in other places

2006-05-11 [Sunrose]: Which sentence exactly? Since I already quoted the perfect way for the sentence being discussed earlier and I don't see how you could've missed it. // I believe them more because I know for sure they speak Spanish as their mother tongue and I trust them as I have known them for a very very long time.

2006-05-11 [Nocternity S.]: Just because you know them for a very very long time doesn't mean im the "bad" person here, why would i lie saying that i speak spanish if i wouldnt? actually i just learned english last year, but you dont know me, and everybodys judges me without knowing me, i dont really care, its not like i was going to win something just for two words that i changed. Its not like i stole something from her either!

2006-05-11 [Patri]: Nobody said you're bad O_O Oh my... Don't you think it's time to stop acting the way you're acting?

2006-05-11 [Sunrose]: Actually only your translations were being critisized, not your personality. I simply have more reason to believe the criticism, because as you said I don't know you and I do know them. I'm sorry if that offends you. And lastly, when someone translates the news they can earn a badge for it.
