But I digress. When we go by "atypical", the sky's the limit, the imagination is the limit, and people's perceptions judge in the end. So, rather than voting for a cow pie with wings, they'll go for the cute, fuzzy flying teddy bear :)

Don't forget that what is typical for people is based on their past experience - something which we don't know about: so we can't really judge their judgment. :)

2008-08-01 [Angelic nightmares]: I said I liked B the best. end sentence. Then commented I had a soft spot for bears. end sentence. I didn't vote for the bear because I like bears. I voted B because I like the picture. The detail on the wings is wonderful. The fluffy pink thing looks like a cloud. The background though simple, is nice. I like the picture in general. And the bear is an added bonus.

To me, A though detailed and looks wonderful is creepy. I'm not going to vote for something that creeps me out. And not knowing the artist, and not wanting to offend them, but A reminds me of a goblin.

C and D -to me- look like typical faeries.

2008-08-01 [NOOOPE]: well, actual fairies like old school good neighbors were often 3 feet tall deformed people with backwards feet. Really, pretty people with wings is more of a modern take on the whole thing. I'd rather see some creepy critters, I mean, fairies used to kidnap kids, make travelers so lost they starved to death, they'd curse people with terminal illnesses....

... all in all fairies tended to be creepy-ass buggers. The minority were pretty, and even then, lots of the pretty ones were only beautiful to bait people for horrible reasons.

2008-08-01 [moira hawthorne]: my computer is a nasty bugger fae... he isnt pretty... and is quite foul mouthed... yes I hear him grumblin and cursin all the time... him and my scanner hate each other and have fights... they dont play nicely together... so very old school faery... misleading me and playing tricks.

2008-08-01 [Lord Dog]: In reality, sts, all of the fairies pictured are more typical than not, fairies became the generic term to include good and bad creatures ... Just C and D resemble the PC version ..

2008-08-01 [arthemis_]: I still voted for the bear, because I think it's as cute as a typical fairy, and it would be soo great if it actually flew and stuff. I don't know, I like that picture better then the others, although it was a close call for me: I like one very much too. Maybe B would have been a bit more original if the bear was as tiny as 'original' fairies :D

A teddy bear with wings is not a stinkin' big deal. If you don't like it, vote for something else.

2008-08-09 [Mödi]: I like the third one. The bear looks too bland to me, and nothing like what you would imagine a faerie would be. I know it's supposed to be Atypical, but still, that's pushing the limit a little too far. D is alright, but it's not great quality. And while faeries were pretty messed up creatures in terms of true appearances, A is just too weird. I would consider it the epitomy of atypical if it weren't for the fact that it's seriously off kilter of what I'd be looking for. And thus, I go with C. ^_^

2008-08-20 [Paul Doyle]: I'm not at all claiming to be an expert, but the general practice (I believe) was 1000 votes. However, seeing how these polls are a LOT slower-moving than they used to be, maybe we could reconsider the final vote tally limit?

2008-08-20 [windowframe]: The final vote tally was already lowered for the last few contest polls. The problem with this one is that there aren't actually huge difference in the amount of votes for each entry, though the lead for entry C *is* growing now.

2008-08-20 [Paul Doyle]: Maybe cap it at 500, or do a run-off between the two selections with the highest votes? Again, just suggestions.
