[Mortified Penguin] - [#"True Magic"]

There once was an old witch and an elderly wizard
They sat huddled alone, during a fierce blizzard
The power was gone and with candles around
The glimmer in her eye reflected a beauty most profound
Now, they couldn’t use spells or do tricks
Nor could they use incantations or wield sorcerous sticks
But the situation wasn’t all that tragic
For when they kissed… it was truly magic.

Congratulations!

4. [Skydancer] - "Bower of the Berry Queen"

Bower of the Berry Queen

I went along the road today, a walk in gentle light,
Up the way the hills I climbed to see the distant peaks.
A pleasant mist, the breath of trees around me drifted,
And in the shrouded silver light a tinkling, rustling voice,
Come and taste My deepest juices, Seek the sweetness of My vine.

I looked around and saw no one, yet I knew a Presence was there,
Old and yet fresh and tempting in the odors on the aire.

I moved to seek the voice I had heard and came up on a bower,
Woven deep in briar canes and berry shrub a dark, yet warm space.
Come to Me She spoke in rustling whispers, the leaves quivering as She whispered.
I will take your blood and cause you pain, but give you sweet sweet joy.
If only you have the courage and the mind, to reach for the prize.

And it was true, She took my blood, a prick at a time, as razor-ed thorns caught at me, reaching for the prize.
Deep were the velvets of Her skin,
and sweet Her juices as I pressed Her to my mouth, dripping down my chin.

I saw Her for a moment then, clear and bright in the dim.
A winged and dark beauty, with fearsome thorns along her wings,
and hair that flowed along Her naked form,
Green and brown and deep deep purple, as deep as Her eyes. I knew then, I had met The Berry Queen.

They say that Fairy is only a dream, but they have not met the reality of the spirit I found there,
that sacred world that we are only allowed to see when with hearts open and believing,
we honor that which is in our very blood.

One day I wish that you too will be blessed to meet Her, in whatever form She may come.
Do not hesitate, nor be afraid, for pain and blood is part of life, and She is the Essence of the Wild. My beautiful Berry Queen.

5. [Mekashef] - "The Magician"

The altar set, the tools laid out;
a conjuration from my mouth
might shake the Heavens – but not yet.
Here underneath the lemniscate
I make the ancient, noble sign
reminding Man of the Divine.

6. [Priscilla Primkin] - A Silver Coin

7. [Priscilla Primkin] - “Night and Day”

Night and Day

High upon a mountain crest
etched against the darkening sky,
a wizard raises his gleaming wand,
evokes a star from out the night.

He summons one, then two and more;
the air begins to scintillate
with brilliant points of glittering light
like sparks ascending from a pyre.

With his baton he makes them dip
and pirouette and swirl, advance,
recede and flock and school and swarm
until they fill the universe.

The cosmic dance goes on all night
and when the quadrille runs its course,
a different mage takes his place
upon the celestial podium.

From out his night-banishing staff
pours rosy dawn and golden morn;
stars coalesce into one golden sun.
The wizards leave, their work is done.
