"whats wrong then?"Alexiel frowns.

"Her Father."

"well...."She waited for more



"He still technically has the right to demand her to return hom eif he wants to."

"but she's your mate..."She stared at him

"No..."

"but...but if you claimed her..."she frowned trying to understand the things she'd never paid attention to

"Doesn't matter. I didn't have his permission, nor is he about to give it. If I just run off with her now, then it'll look bad for the both of us. If I give in and allow that... that bastard to take her back... We'll probably never see her again."

"dammit..."Alexiel sniffled starting to cry,she couldnt lose another friend,not when she just found out how much her brother meant to herr,she couldnt see him hurt

"Don't cry. I am going to fix this if it's the last thing I ever do. Trust me in that."

She nodded,wiping her eyes kissing his nose."ok."

"Her dad used to abuse her. Did she ever tell you that?"

She shook her head."no..."

"She won't tell me either, though I suspect she thinks I know. Alexiel, I don't know what to do if her father refuses to accept my claim."

"caan I kill him?"she smiled half kidding,half hoping


"I've toyed with that idea... But it's not worth a war. I'm here to protect the people, not cause them pain and suffering because I'm being selfish."

"ok...."She sighed sitting down beside him."I dont want you hurt sessy..."

Sesshoumaru shrugged. "I'm used to it. I can adjust."

She sighed,leaning against him."if you say so..."

"What would you do if Miroku were to go away somewhere and you couldn't get him back, no matter what?"

"kill anything that stood in my way to get to them,then kill whatever or whoever had them,or go mad if I couldnt have him."

Sesshoumaru thought about this for a second. "Sounds... Like you..."

"and it sounded like you.Well at least till a few minutes ago."

"It's more complicated than it sounds. These are very important demons I might offend."

"so?kil lthem to."

"And have three fourths of Japan's demon at my throat... I think not."

"I'll help!"she smiles


"Kind offer, but no. This is my problem. I will handle it."

she sighed,hugging him,resting her head on his shoulder,tears soaking his shirt."if you want to talk,you know where to find me."

Sesshoumaru past her lightly on the back. "I know. Now, stop crying. And you cannot repeat a word of what I've said with anyone. It really is none of your business.

She smiles pulling away."I know,but I wanted to help.You seemed worried."she sighs kissing his nose walking down the hall


Sesshoumaru nodded and returned to looking out the window.

Alexiel sighs just walking around

Kirara looks up from the book she was reading as Alexiel walked by. "Hey!"

Alexiel smiles walking in."hey..."

"What have you been up to?" Kirara asks as she puts her book down.

"wandering and talking to sesshy."

"What'd that loser have to say?"

"nothing of importance."She shrugged sitting down

"You sure?"

"yea."

"Whatever you say."

"yep.whatever I say."

Kirara sighed and picked up her book again.

"whatcha reading?"

Kirara shrugs. "Dunno, just grabbed it off a shelf in the library."

"you're like sesshy."

"How so?"

"he just walks in and picks up a book to."

"I had nothing better to do."

"So what do you want to do now."

"I dunno." Kirara stretched. "Wanna walk around. I gotta work all the kinks out."

"lets go then."she smiles standing

Kirara bounds to her feet. "And maybe we can find out what Sesshoumaru's doing if we're careful enough!"

"maybe."She shrugged

Kirara looked confused. "I thought you wanted to know what was going on. I thought you'd be more enthusiastic."

"yea...but I cant tell you what he's doing..."

"Wait! You know? How!?"

"I asked."

"And he actually told you?"

"yea,after I promised not to tell anyone"

"And you're actually going to keep that promise, aren't you?"

"yes."

Kirara groaned. "But I want to know what's going on and there's no way in hell he's going to tell me of all people."

"Poor you."

"You don't sound too convincing in your pity."

"Its because I really dont feel bad."

"You're mean."

"no,just truthful."

"So you don't feel bad about me?"

"I do,but I feel worse for him."

Kirara looked at her seriously concerned. "Are you sure he's ok?"

"fine.He's just worrying."

"He always worries. Why do I feel like this time it's different?"

"because its about family."Aexiel smiles,while not completely true,it was close


"Yeah. He's never really worried all too much about family, now has he? Not a big family guy I suppose."

"yea,but he's gotten to like me reccently."

"He's complicated then."

"mostly.he's worried I'll have more kids,"She shruged thinking of a lie

"Yeah, he doesn't strike me as the type to want a lot of kids wandering around and generally getting in the way. Not that your kid annoys me or anything."

"I know what you mean.come on,lets go into town to see about getting riku in classes..."

"Fine, fine. I'll come with you."

"good."

Kirara starts walking. "You coming?"

"yea."she smiles following,heading into town


Kirara hums to herself.

Her ears flattened against her head as kids stopped staring up at her,as she entered the nursery/school

"You should be used to this." Kirara says as she swings her tails around accidentally on purpose hitting a kid square in the butt with one.

Alexiel laughed as the kid fell over."I know,but its usually the kids who dont stare."She smiled bending down."hiya.where's you teacher?"The kid pointed towards the backroom,looking frightened,and looking at him,it killed something in alexiel.

"Thanks kid." Kiara said, grinning. "You're now on my list of favorite people. Congrats."

Alexiel rolled her eyes,heading that way."you're an idiot you know that?"

"Well, I didn't want the thing to think I was going to eat him or something." Kirara says as she walks along next to her.

alexiel smiles as the teacher looks up.'how can I help you?"
"I'd like to enroll my child here..."
"but he's a demon right?We dont let demons send their children here.School policy."

Kiarar smirks. "He's only one fourth demon actually. You got a policy about that? I'm sure we could get one of the Lord's down here. I'll bet Lord Sesshoumaru wouldn't take to kindly to his nephew being turned away from a school...."

"l-lord sesshomaru?"the teacher paled."o-of course he could come!"

"Thought so." Kirara leaned back with a triumphant smile. "When can he start?"

"t-tommorow."

"We'll be here." Kirara turned to go. "Coming, Alexiel?"

Alexiel nodded following her out.

"You're upset." Kirara pointed out.

"no I'm not."she said quietly heading up the house steps


"You are." Kirara said following behind.

"whatever.Where you think sesshy is?"

"Who knows, who cares?"

"I wanna know who's in charge of the school..."

"Why? It shouldn't matter."

"just curious if he knows them..."

"Probably not."

"seshsy!"

Sesshoumaru look up from the paper he's reading. "What?"

"hey,you know who runs the school?"

"Not personally, no. Why do you ask?"

"cause one of the teachers nearly threw me out the door when I wwent to sign riku up."

"I can have a talk with them if you'd like." Sesshoumaru offers.

Kirara laughs. "I did it for you. Riku starts school tomorrow."

"yea,only after she threatened to get you down there."

"I was afraid that might happen." Sesshoumaru says. "I'm glad you took Kirara with you. The villagers are still a little skittish, especially with all these demons running about as of late."

"but riku doesnt even look the part.Hell,if you dressed normal,and didnt threaten anyone you might pass for human."

"Yeah, but you don't look the part and that's what made the teacher nervous." Sesshoumaru points out.

"It's a stupid little fear that all humans seem to have, Alexiel. Why do you think most demons are home schooled? The humans think we may accidentally, or purposefully harm one of the other students." Kirara adds. "They don't think, even for a second, that we might be anything other than bloodthirsty villians out looking for a snack. Riku's just going to have to prove them wrong."

"they'll just have to worry about him hitting on the girls."Alexiel said blandly,trying not tot blush

Kirara laughed. "With Miroku as his father? He'll be beating them off with a stick."

"most likely."She grinned feeling better

"I'm glad you feel better, Alexiel." Sesshoumaru says. "If you ever need anything, I'll be around."

"for once."she grineed kissing his cheelk

Sesshoumaru shrugs her off and begins walking away.

"Yeah, he's around, but he never stays for long." Kirara mumbles.

"dont worry,he's worried enough for the both of you."

"I wish you would stop dropping these little hints that you know something I don't."

"sorry,I cant help it."

"You could if you wanted to."

"you'd know if you just thought about it."

"I have though about it. I'm no closer to answers."

"yes you do.you should."

"Look, there are plenty of things he could be worried about. I'm not psychic."

"no,this is about family.jhe's only got so many things he can worry about."

"So it's about you?"

"no."

"Then it's about Inuyasha?"

"no."

"Miroku, Riku? A combination of the two?"

"no,no,nope."

"Ok... I'm out of suggestions."

"how about you?"

"Phffft. I'm not family."

"close enough."

"There is no reason for him to worry about me at all. I can take care of myself."

"more like he's worried about losing you."

"Now why would he think a stupid thing like that?"

"I'm waiting..."

"I cant tell you."'

"And why the hell not? If it's got to do with me, then I think I deserve to know."

"then you should know.Its about your family anyyways."She went white when she realized what she said.

Kirara went deathly silent for a minute. "I see..." She said slowly. "Care to tell me exactly what he said about my family?"

"ummm...."

".......I'm waiting......"

"ask him."

"He'll tell me to go screw myself."

"maybe but you could try."

"I don't think getting into a fight right now would be productive."

"why not?"

"It just wouldn't."

"fine I'll go with you."

"No."

"why not?"

"Because I'm not going at all, that's why."

"sesshy!kirara wants to know what's wrong!"Alexiel yelled walking down the hall

"Hey!" Kirara yelled after her.

Sesshoumaru looked up confused. "What did you say?"

"kirara wants to know whats wrong."

"Do not!" Kirara yelled from far away.

"....Hmmm... I should have seen this coming."

"well tell her."alexiel grinned."she ewants to know

"If I can catch her...."

"go for it."

"Fine, fine." Sesshoumaru turns to leave. "You coming?"

"yep."alexiel grinned

Sesshoumaru takes off, finding Kirara sitting in a tree, staring off into the sky. "I think we need to talk."

"I think you need to go jump off a rather high cliff onto a few jagged rocks." Kirara responds, not even bothering to look at them.

"but that'd hurt."Alexiel pouted

"That's the point." Kirara points out.


"Kirara, I can't talk to you if you're not going to listen." Sesshoumaru sighs. "Will you at least look at me?"

"No."

Alexiel sighs sitting down

"I just want you to know right off the bat that I'm doing this because I care about you." Sesshoumaru pauses for a second. "Will you just fucking listen to someone else for more than two seconds!? You're not the only one who's hurting here and I don't think you see that."

Kirara pretends to ignore him.

"can I try?"Alexiel sighs

Sesshoumaru throws up his hands in irritation. "Go for it."

"he's worried your dad will take you home."

Kirara twitched but continued to stare determinedly at the sky.

"I give up!"alexiel scowled

"Talking to you is like talking to a rock." Sesshoumaru yells. "I don't get any answers and I don't understand why the hell I'm trying to explain myself to something that can't even feel!"

"Shut the hell up." Kirara whispers, barely audible. "Neither of you have the slightest clue as to how I feel."

Alexiel's ear twitched"because you wont let us."

"Because I don't let anyone." Was the monotoned answer.


"why the hell not?"

"Because then it hurts twice as much when I have to leave again." Kirara answers.

"well you're not leaving any time soon,so come on share."

"But, the thing is, I am going to have to leave again. It's only a matter of time before dear, old Daddy finds out where I am, and then I'm going to have to go back home. It's the way it's always been. I run away, hide for a while, maybe even make a few friends along the way, and then I just end up getting discovered and dragged home, kicking and screaming." Kirara sighs. "I might as well just go back now and wait for him."

"Kirara...." Sesshoumaru started softly. "I've spoken with your father.... He...."

"He's not going to let me stay."

"I'll fight him!"Alexiel grinned.


"Alexiel, calm down." Sesshoumaru says. "If you would let me finish my sentence for once. He said you could stay. There were a few conditions, but other than that... He wants to talk to you personally. I was going to see you today anyway to ask your permission to accompany you when he summons you."

"You don't want me meeting with him alone?" Kirara asks, trying to hide the hope she was feeling.

"why?you wanna see him alone?"

"....No comment...."

"I'm not going to let him hurt you, Kirara." Sesshoumaru promises. "You are my future mate after all."

"told you he wouldnt let you go."

Kirara shrugs. "Hn."

"Are you going to come down out of that tree any time soon?"

"I'll go get here."Alexiel volunteeered.

"I'm a cat. I like trees." Kirara stated as though that should have been the most obvious thing in the world.

"but its nice down here."

"I like trees."

"fine stay up there."

"I will."

"The two of you sound like a pair of children, you know." Sesshoumaru points out.

"we are compared to you."

"Speak for yourself. I'm only one year younger than him." Kirara says, sticking her tongue out at Alexiel.

"You don't act like it."

Alexiel made a face."neither do you."

"I like to think I'm above petty arguments."

"You? The king of stupid grudges? Don't make me laugh."

Alexiel fell ovcer laughing

"At least I know when to stop."

"I can stop whenever I want."

"Prove it."

"Why don't you?"

"yea fluffy,stop"

Sesshoumaru sent her a glare. "Don't call me that, and this doesn't concern you."

"Shut up, Fluffy"

"Don't you even dare start that."

"fluffy fluffy fluffy!"Alexiel giggled


Sesshoumaru paused, shaking with rage, then turned on his heel and stormed off.

"opps."

"Eh. He needs to loosen up."

"just a little."

"More like a lot."

"true."

"....Thanks..."

Alexiel laughed."now what?'

"Now we get ready for the banquet I guess."

"yea."alexiel nodded heading for her room

Kirara drops down out of the tree and follows her.

Alexiel whistled lowly,watching miroku come out already dressed


Kirara laughs.

miroku blushes."do I look that good?"

"I say it's all a matter of opinion."

"her face says it all."Miroku grins as alexiel hugs him

"Yeah, whatever." Kirara shrugs. "I'm going to get dressed."

Alexiel smiles,hugging her husband as they walked down the stairs,dressed for the banquet

Kirara sat in a corner of the hall that the stairs emtpied into, dozing off.

They tiptoed closer,tugging on her hair."time to get up!"

"Hey!" Kirara yells. "Leave my hair out of this! I'm up, I'm up, I'm up!"

"good!"Alexiel grins as miroku steps back,hiding behind the half demon


Kirara growls and whacks Alexiel in the face with one of her tails. "Don't pull my hair again."

Alexi pouts."that hurt!"

"Well, it hurt when you pulled my hair."

"sorry."she sighed."lets go get the party over with."

"The sooner the better."

"yea."Alexiel smiles heading towards the dinning room

Kirara follws along behind her quietly, running her hand through her hair to make sure it wasn't ruined.

"he didnt pull it that hard."Miroku smiles watching his wife's ass

"It was still a mean thing to do." Kirara pouts.

He pats her on the head."Then tell fluffy on us."

"I like to think I'm more independent than that."

"yeayea."Miroku grins following alexiel through the open doors,looking around for the demon forementioned

Sesshoumaru came upf rom behind them. "Looking for someone?"

Alexiel yelped."Sesshy!"

"Yes?" Sesshoumaru asked.

"dont do that!"She poked him in the chest

"Do what?" Sesshoumaru asks innocently.

"scare me!"She poked him again

"Would you deny me any amount of fun that I can get?" Sesshoumaru asks.

"yes."Alexiel pouts and miroku grins

"It's because she's a meanie." Kirara points out.

"wait!he never has fun@who I am to deny him the right to ppull the stick shovved up his ass out!"Alexiel grins hidding behind kirara

"That would have been the point behind my question." Sesshoumaru points out. "Now, if the three of you are ready, there seems to be food awaiting us in the banquet hall."

"lets go."Alexiel smiles slipping a arm through miroku's,then sesshomaru's.

"That makes an interesting image." Kirara points out. "Aw. Family love..."

Miroku laughed."now all we need is riku and we got the whole family."

"I don't think Riku would have much fun tonight." Kirara points out.

"he might."Mirkou grinned."he'd get to pull on fluffy's tail,tug on his mother's ears,harass and play with all the other demons with pullable features...."

'And quite possibly get murdered." Sesshoumaru says sarcastically. "I think it's best if he sticks to playing with toys in the nursery."

"probably."Alexiel smiles,nudging sesshomaru in the side."now all he needs is a cousin to play with."

"Get a life, Alexiel." Sesshoumaru says.

"I don't think you should get your hopes up." Kirara adds.

"I have a life thank you very much.I jsut dont want to be pregnant any time soon,which is why my dearest brother gets the job."

"A pregnant Sesshoumaru... THAT I would pay to see." Kirara breaks up into laugher.

"You're all idiots."

"now that would be a good sight."Alexiel grinned patting sesshy's stomach."he'd lose all this muscle,and get a nice round tummy."

Sesshoumaru moves away. "Don't even think about it."

"Too late." Kirara laughs even harder.

"yea way to late."

"I hate you all."

"nah,you love us."she grins

"No, I'm fairly certain it's hate right about now."

"hate and love are very close.Just the opposite side of the coin."

"Wow, look who got all philisophical on us."

"not philisophocial,just listened to miroku talk"

"That'd do it to you."

"yea.He was readint to me after I tired him all out."

"I'm just not going to ask."

"you're better off."Miroku grins taking his seat,after holding out alexiel's chair for her

Sesshoumaru nods and Kirara and him both sit down.

Alexiel smiles looking around the table to see everyone

Kirara stretches. "It's nice to see everyone here and not trying to rip each other's heads off."

"thats true.'Alexiel grins.

"It makes me think that maybe we do have a chance to make a country that a little less violent and little more tolerant."

"yea,but then we have people like fluffy,who are just violent."

Sesshoumaru shrugged. "Demon are violent by nature. Give them a few days and fights will be breaking out all over the place."

"great..."she sighed."didnt want to start a war with my wedding."

Kirara sighed. "It's a territorial thing, Alexi. They get all nervous being coupe up together. Once they all go home in a few weeks, they'll forget all about the way so-and-so may or may not have walked a little too close to them in the hall."

"good."she smiles."so werent you going to make a announcement fluffy??"

"The meal's barely started." Sesshoumaru points out. "Keep your pants on."

"but I'm impatient fluffy!"

"You've always been impatient."

"yea."she smiles eaeting

"Come on, Alexi." Kirara says. "It's not like he's going to say anything important."

"thats true."Alexiel grinned

Sesshoumaru just shrugged.

"not going to protest its important?"

"It's important to me, but that doesn't mean it's important to you."

"thats true."

"And no one cares about what you think." Kirara points out. "Therefore, I dont' care about your announcement."

Alexiel snorts laughing

"I'm not going to argue with you."

"good.now everyone eat!"miroku grins
