Batman is so cool. Do you wanna know why? He's a genius/detective/billionaire/freakishly hot/escape artist/ninja who didn't just get powers through some experiment gone wrong or a mutation or some other dumb ass thing, Batman got the way he is because he WORKED HIS ASS OFF. That's right, he trained, and studied and made himself who he is today. He doesn't need heat vision or alien DNA, all he needs is his own overflowing awesomeness. Batman is not super-humanly powered, he's super-humanly AWESOME! His power is that he's so freaking off the charts bad ass, nothing, not even The Joker, can stop him!!!

the joker dies in the dark knight returns.... and in batman beyond, return of the joker. Since they are both in the future, and most comics published now take place before that or in some parallel dimension, he does die.
