About the artist and why this picture was chosen for the daily picture:

What do you get when you cross a hummingbird with a dragon? A Humidon, of course (although I don't want to think about how you'd do it)! This adorable creature instantly caught my eye, from it's unique design to the vibrate colours that tips his feathers. What's even more amazing about this seminal creature is that it displayed [furious]'s first attempt at inking and colouring. I'm always impressed when a first attempt comes out well, but I believe this one came out exceptionally well, especially with the delicate blending of colours in the wonderfully drawn wings (I'm a sucker for wings).
