Rika sat of the cliff as she looked at pitch black clouds that hung over Forbidden Island. The skies above her and everywhere else were gray and the wind blew. She sighed and said in a sad voice, "In seven days and seven nights the Dark will only begin to show....and the world will soon be swallowed up by the darkness." She sighed again in a bored way, then out her hand to her cheek and rested her elbow on her leg, then said in her usual voice, "To think 'I' wanted to steal the Black Orb." Rika took out a blue ocarina and looked at it for a minuet. Then put it away and mumbled to herself, "I don't need them....I'll fight it myself." "You can, can you?" A voice asked from the trees. "Hiei! Will you please stop doing that!?" Rika said, she wasn't scared, but annoyed because Hiei always say something from the trees then coming down and sitting with her. "I was only passing by when I heard you." Hiei said. Rika turned her head, "I don't think that the only reason......So.....I guess you've noticed, The Dark is Rising?" She asked. "Yes," Hiei answered, "and what is the Black Orb?" "You haven't heard of it?" Rika asked as though in a mocking way. "I don't pay attention to jewels like you do." Hiei answered sitting next to her. "Well, it's what's causing that." Rika said pointing to the clouds. "Why bother stealing it when what you want to use it for is already being done." Hiei asked. "I'm surprised to hear that coming out of YOUR mouth." Rika said, "But, that isn't why I want to use it. It's power is great. I want to study it.........and it would look good with my collection. Maybe I can turn it into a pendant...." She continued. "Oh..." Hiei said with a LITTLE BIT of disinterested. There was a sort of silence after that as they looked at the Dark Clouds. "So what does the...uh....'Dark' do exactly?" Hiei asked. Rika sighed, as though bored, "Well....it creates large demon portals and storms. But that's only if your under the clouds." Rika answered. "How do you stop it?" Hiei asked. " I have a theory...but I'm not sure of it.....anyway, I'm sure the Detective will find a way." Rika said unpleased with the idea. "I doubt he even knows." Hiei said. "Koenma does....though I'd bet he's too busy with the incoming work." Rika said.
Rika was right about the amount of work at the castle. Ogers ran back and forth with piles of papers. Pilling them by Koenma's already full desk. Koenma worked franticly with his stamper. Koenma's screen showed the Dark Clouds. "AHHHH! BOTAN!" He shouted over the commotion. Botan came through the doors, trying not to run into any passing ogers, "Yes, sir?" She asked. "GO TO THE LIVING WORLD AND TELL YUSUKE WHAT'S HAPPENING! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" An oger tripped and knocked over a giant pile of paper on Koenma. "OH! Koenma sir!?" Botan asked. Koenma popped up from the spilt pill, "GO!" He commanded. "Yes sir." Botan said taking out her broom and flying off.
She flew to the human world, only to find Hiei and Rika first. She landed next to them and said happily, "Hello you two. Good to see you again." "If Koenma is only noticing now that The Dark is Rising, then he's really losing his touch." Rika said looking at Botan over her shoulder, but not getting up. "Watch your tough! I'll have you know Koenma is very busy with this." Botan said pointing at the dark clouds, "Now, I think you should come with me to gather the others." She continued. Hiei and Rika stood, "HA! Please, the detective can deal with this on his own, I don't need to baby-sit him!" Hiei said. Then jumped and vanished. Botan stamped her foot, "Those two are as stubborn as mules!" A small stone hit her in the head from the direction Hiei and Rika went. "OW!" then she muttered to herself and took off on her broom again.
She flew to the city, but made sure regular humans couldn't see her. Strangely, she found Kurama first. "KURAMAAAAA!" She called happily. He looked as she landed beside him, "Well hello there, Botan." "No time to talk, but I guess you've noticed that...uh...well Rika called it....The Dark is Rising?" She asked. "Yes, but I wish we had more time though." Kurama answered somberly. "Koenma told me, that Rika said seven days and seven nights. By the way, that sister of yours is so stubborn! I can not see how you put up with her!" Botan said. Kurama laughed, "Well, I'm not so sure myself." "Anyway, we'd better find Yusuke and Kuwabara.........Rika and Hiei won't be joining us though." Botan said, scowling when she said 'Rika and Hiei won't be joining us though.' They ran off to Yusuke's and Kuwabara's homes, only to find they weren't there. "Oh poo....what do we do now?" Botan asked. Kurama thought for a moment, then said, "Why don't we find Keiko? I think she has Puu, and we can use him to find Yusuke." "Brilliant!" Botan said, happy again. So they went off to find Keiko.
