Elftown Expansion Lobbying

EEL - a contest suggestion

You will earn a nice eel badge, you will meet new people and you get to brag. The goal of this contest is to tell how great you have been about activating new (or old) members. When enough people have rated you, you'll get the badge! (How big your rating is doesn't matter except for your ego.).

Rule: You must vote for yourself! You are not allowed to beg for votes, but you're free to mention that you're competing here.
Deadline: Ongoing.
See also Tips to new Elftowners for some ideas that of what you can suggest to newcomers!

Example:

4.4/15
[Hedda]: I press "accept" to accept all new members! And I made [bloody wrists and empty promises] submit North Bend Oregon Sand Dunes to EPRM Landmark Reference.

[wicked fae mage] I talk to a lot of random people listed in the interesting people part of the pane (Even though 8 of 10 times they're already my friend.) I have recruited several people ([MyAlterEgo], [fredmeister77], [Desi the Red Rose], [the lucid nightmare] [bigscaryhat]. [Triso]) and encouraged them to post their work for others to see. I have been supporting people who want to be part of the crew ([Ravendust] and [*Phoenix*]). A personal accomplishment was having [Ninja Smurf]'s wiki what inspires you? as a feature after nominating it.

4.0/10
[Ravendust] As a four year member of Elftown I have relatively recently decided to challenge myself by setting up an application for Apply to the crew! Roleplaying is a large part of mine and my friends ET daily life. I myself have created and moderated or co-moderated many RPs, some of which include: The 12, Bitter Song of the Sand (which has many side stories created out of amusement and creative desire by [wicked fae mage] and myself), and Distorted Perceptions. I have been a featured poet 3 times in my ET career and have participated in quite a few contests, some official, some not so much. On top of mass inviting friends to contests I have participated in or feel they'll enjoy, I have also lured several friends to the site; [wicked fae mage], and through her [the lucid nightmare], [Desi the Red Rose]. I have also kept quite a few members active through the love of Rping and general ET fun- [Dezmond] being a prime example...

4.0/10
[Silver Moon] I have been a member of Elftown for years and a very active rpg player. Through the love of rpging and the dedication to elftown I introduced several new Elftowners to this cite including my brother
[July 47], [Gypsy Mystik], and [Amathya] among others. Through my rpgs I have been able to keep [Gypsy Mystik] and [Amathya] interested in ET and they have started rpgs of their own. I have promoted Et to other people on my university campus in the hopes that they will check it out and perhaps join as well. Among my active rpgs I have created The Tower of Seletar,The Mask She Wears,The Slave Hold,Whispers of the Past Chapter and many others. I have also helped new members navigate around ET when they have had difficulty in doing so.
I have helped new members understand how to post on wikis and put in dividers and graphics.

3.7/7
[Skydancer] Massive artist resource manager and provider. Constantly connecting world class artists from DA to our resources here and working to bring the excellent stock artists there to also submit their work here.

[Eyden13] I've been constantly involved in rp, stories and other things around elftown. I've even become the professor of musics in the Elftown Academy. I've tried very hard to get new members by e-mailing all of my friends, creative writing class members, and other acquaintances but none seem to join. However, once a week i check the new member page list and send welcome message and helping hand to the new members of elftown.

3.1/9
[Mortified Penguin] I'm constantly telling people to join Elftown. I approach friends and other people that I may see drawing or writing and inform them of the wonders of Elftown and all it has to offer. I've invited two douches using the "invite" thing, but they lost interest, because they are jerks and should be beaten with a crowbar. In addition my simple, friendly requests for people to join, I also often take to the streets and assault pedestrians with baseball bats. Usually these situations end in a chase and, more often than not, a hostage situation. Most of the time I get too distracted to remember to tell them about Elftown, but my intentions are still good. Also, I often advertise Elftown in the internet's most sordid and seedy websites, where no one else has ever even thought to advertise. I'm a pioneer!

3.0/7
[Flisky] I talk to everyone I can and am generally nice to people. I have run RPGs, participated in RPs, done art critiques, read lots of stories, and looked at tons of houses. I invited my friend [Maloryn], who is now an active member and tell people I know about Elftown as often as I can.

2010-12-20 [Skydancer]: quite an idea you have here... chuckle. :)

2010-12-20 [Eyden13]: *looks around*

2010-12-20 [wicked fae mage]: Feel free to brag. Everybody's doing it :P

2010-12-20 [Skydancer]: I take it you use a unique number in the rating tag?

2010-12-20 [wicked fae mage]: it's an srate tag and the denominator is the number of people who rated them

2010-12-24 [Eyden13]: how do you make the little rate boxes?

2010-12-25 [Eyden13]: thanks ^-^

2010-12-31 [Nekko fox]: Oh Mort, you delicious, nutritious, capricious, seditious, malicious dork, we love you.

2010-12-31 [Mortified Penguin]: If you know what's best for you, you'd better.

2010-12-31 [~*~Music Junkie~*~]: This is wicked ^^ nice idea, i am allways telling people about elftown, though they ushually never join... -.-

2011-01-11 [organicparadox]: this is a great grassroots effort. much love and success to you making have meaningful impact. i definitely try to treat every person i meet within elftown as a kindred spirit. maybe i can try to introduce ppl not in the community to join. good on ya mort

2011-02-04 [Queen of Hearts]: ET is much better than facebook. :) good luck to everyone

2011-02-05 [Mortified Penguin]: I don't think you can really compare the two, since they both serve completely different functions. Lucratively speaking though, Facebook has Elftown beat.

2011-02-05 [Queen of Hearts]: well facebook is a social networking site, it is where everyone checks up what theyre friends are up to etc. elftown is completely different and attracts a different crowd of people.

2011-02-05 [wicked fae mage]: You can compare them in certain respects, but it would be more fair to compare facebook, myyearbook and myspace since they all have the same purpose.

You can prefer facebook because it has certain things like instant chatting and Elftown doesn't. You can prefer Elftown because you hate getting invited to apps and games where other sites are mostly about apps and games.

It all depends on the criteria that you are judging.

2011-02-05 [Mortified Penguin]: Well, Elftown does sort of have instant chatting: http://elftown.eu/_IRC

2011-06-11 [Skydancer]: Would these be Moray Eel or Electic Eel badges, smiles, and we need more participants.

2011-06-11 [~Valkyrie~]: Well, I was going to participate...Until I realized I have no idea what that number box thing is or how to get it there. *laughs*

2011-06-11 [Ravendust]: Isn't it just srate in the <> brackets? I remember not knowing how to do it and asking someone about it.

2011-06-12 [Mortified Penguin]: Yeah, just <srate> should work.

2011-06-12 [~Valkyrie~]: Hmmm... Thanks
