This image that I did for the ET Front page art contest is what caused this poem/story to come to life!

Now you can read my fantasy story/poem:

"Welcome...Eye Love Elftown"

by Me!...[Artsieladie] © 2005

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I look through my eye and what do I see?
A quaint, little town here before me.
As I take in this intrigueing place,
Wisps of hair, they tickle my face.
As I toss my head to shake 'em away,
I could have sworn I heard someone say,
             "Come girl, come step inside".
There he stood with the gate open wide.
"Welcome! Welcome, to our little town.
Are you new here? Can I show you aroun'?"
             "Oh," I thought."Tomorrow'd be best",
But I didn't want to refuse or really contest.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Little did I know as I gently bowed down,
Who I was about to take through the town.
Although it was dark, it was a moonlit night.
Much could be seen without the daylight.
He guided me down street after street.
He didn't seem aware, I was still on my feet.
Some houses were brightly all lit,
While others just showed barely a bit.
As I trod along, his intention was clear.
He was in no hurry and harbored no fear.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Then we came to a corner of three.
             Here's where I stood under a tree.
A wise ol' owl was way up high.
Hollerin' and hootin', I didn't know why.
Just then, a sound caught my ear.
Sudden it was, and up I did rear.
The passenger aboard he stuck like glue
Then simply asked, "What frightened you?"
Well, I didn't know what had made me jump,
But then there he stood an elf so plump.
The clothes he wore were crumpled, yet clean
But, alas, his charm could readily be seen.
His hat just seemed to sit on his head
He must have just risen straight from his bed.
He wasn't too tall as most elves aren't.
His presence, though small, really did warrant
A measure of magic, an aura so wise,
What he said next really opened my eyes.
"You have come to a town of magic and dreams.
Where the thoughts of folks, or so it seems,
Once expressed with brush or with pen
Come to life again and again."
As the elf proceeded in his factual mode,
My curiosity swelled, but could only implode.
"As you entered this quaint little town,
What did you see scattered aroun'?"
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

2005-08-29 [Artsieladie]: Yeah, I think so for children that are younger then 7 or 8, but for older than this age, if there are a few words that they don't understand, maybe it will give them incentive to find out what they mean, therefore expanding their vocabulary skills. :)

2005-08-30 [Stephen]: Yeah, good point. :)

2005-08-30 [Artsieladie]: It bothers me that our educational system doesn't focus too much on vocabulary & spelling, anymore. :P

2005-09-02 [Stephen]: I know what you mean... WOAH lots of links!!! Did you use a template??

2005-09-03 [Artsieladie]: Huh? *dumb look* Remember! I'm a newbie! What do you mean ...Did I use a template? I know what a template is in a 'graphics program', though. :P

2005-09-06 [Stephen]: XD what is a template ... I think

2005-09-06 [Artsieladie]: Ok.... Thanks! *smacks head*  :P

2005-09-06 [Artsieladie]: *giggles* It's an empty page! (.)_(.)

2005-09-06 [Stephen]: I'll look for it and give you the link ;P

2005-09-06 [Artsieladie]: *still giggling* Ok...thanks! :D

2005-09-16 [Stephen]: Prettyfullness!!

2005-09-16 [Artsieladie]: Huh?  LOL (.)..(.)

2005-09-16 [Artsieladie]: I'm trying to get things that I've started & not finished ....finished. Then, I can focus over there much better. I've had some ISP prob's & some minor pc prob's, but pains in the butt, none the less! ;P How come I didn't see an entry from you in the prose contest? [Akayume] entered & I went over & read her entry, so I looked for one from you, but didn't see any! Boo-hoo! *rubs forefinger over other forefinger* Sta! sta! Shame! Shame! ...on you! te he  :P ....& now I feel awful! Went & caught myself one heck of an upper respiratory infection!! Yuk!! ,^_^,

2005-09-17 [Stephen]: What prose contest? O.O

2005-09-17 [Artsieladie]: It was advertised on Mainstreet. I think that it has ended now, though. I wish had mentioned it to you sooner. I had seen the notice, but for some reason, it didn't sink in this pea brain of mine.... until I went there for [Akayume]'s story. I'm so sorry, b/c I think it is right up your alley. You're such a good writer! It's called, Elftown Prose Contest....the notice was from [Hedda] on the left hand side. ,^_^,

2005-09-18 [Stephen]: Oh, it't not your fault. :) It ended, but they have prose contests about two or three times a year. I just never happen to notice announcments. Always too busy >.>

2005-09-18 [Artsieladie]: Well, the next time I see one, I'll be sure & inform you....OK? :P

2005-09-18 [Stephen]: That would be nice. :D

2005-09-18 [Artsieladie]: Okay, then! :)))
