| Some may think this strange, but it sounds like it could be fun! It would really be cool if we had the 'community' come together and 'put together' a visual fantasy community of Elftown. After all, communities can be mini or mega. We could design/plan what Elftown's Mainstreet could be, like having a press (The Town Herald), a police station (The Town Guards), a tavern or two (there's a couple I know of here), a library (Thousand Eyes, Poetry Corner), and other things that would normally be found on the Mainstreet of a town. They wouldn't have to be 'traditional buildings', because this is a fantasy town. Maybe the local press is in a cave, for example. The king or mayor would need a castle. lol You could have side streets for other interests and for the residences of the community members. Or... lanes that would go out into the countryside where others live. You could have a stable, even a Royal Stable and/or a Unicorn Forest. Each street could be a wiki page and those that live on that street, would be on that wiki page. We could decide on street names and members could choose on which street they'd want to live on. We could even have smaller neighborhoods for fantasy races, if they choose to live in these, like Orcville (just an 'off the top of the head' suggestion). We already have Shady Hollow, too. For those that have a 'more than one involved in' the operation of, like The Town Herald, the group could get together and decide on how they'd want their 'subject of interest' portrayed in the community, such as what there place of business would look like. Each one or group that participates, could have a 'short' write-up/parag I don't know, maybe this is just a crazy notion. *shrugs* ...And if or when we managed to get it all together, maybe someone like True could put it altogether to view, but I don't know if this would be possible. If we could, we might even be able to put it on YouTube, so the whole world could see our wonderful community! *dreaming* |
| It seems we all or most of us dream. I wonder, has anyone ever woke up from a dream that left them haunted by it for the day or days? [Morningstar Rising] and I have talked about this and about creating a contest around this idea. It could be a bit challenging, both artistically and in writing. Since there are probably as many dreams of people as there are stars in the heavens, it would be so interesting to see how creative everyone would be and all the various dreams that inspire the creativity. :P |
2007-10-03 [iippo]: :3 You know of community, right (it's dead there though :P). Me and [windowframe] and [shotokan_gal] have a wiki-revamp in the planning, which would do something along the lines that you've got outlined here... :D
2007-10-04 [Artsieladie]: I just went & took a look around. It seems we all have similar ideas in mind, probably with variances, of course. I think if we could have more images depicting this community idea would be nice, but we would need many committed artists to get involved & contribute their art & ideas or I would think so, anyway. I like the "atmospheric" writings. I haven't really had the time, yet, to see how the new pseudo HTML could work to an advantage, but I'm sure it could somehow. If I can help out or whatever, I wouldn't mind. :)

I definitely agree! :D Oh, oh, have you seen Elftown house? It's been quiet for a little while, but it's also another project that would be great to get rolling along with this plan :D
2007-10-04 [Artsieladie]: I stumbled on this a couple of days ago, actually, & I was wondering what was going on with it. There's already Shady Hollow, too. I'm not sure, but I think I read in the forums somewhere, that [Lothuriel] has had thoughts something along these lines, as well, but I could be wrong. ;P

2007-10-04 [Artsieladie]: I've been wanting to enter your 'crafty' contests, but my daughter has the camera with her most of the time. Lining things up for timing of its usage, seems trickier than one would imagine. :P

2007-10-04 [Artsieladie]: Good! :D With 3 you have your hands full! *huggles* I'd really like to get a good picture of a Lamb Chop I crocheted when my daughter was little. I used to do a lot of crocheting. One day I was doing this & she said, "Mommy, I would like to have my own Lamb Chop." (Sheri Lewis had such a great talent, I think.) Anyway...so I sat & crocheted her a Lamb Chop & made it as a puppet. No pattern. I just made it. She loves it to this day, even though it's a bit frayed. :)
