2009-01-17 [Artsieladie]: Well, it looks like "Forbidden Love" for the art and "Twisted Love" for the poetry. This Valentine contest needs to be opened because it needs to have a deadline no later than 2009-2-11 in order to get the contest closed and the voting all to be done by the 14th AND the announcement for its opening needs to go in the news I'm about to post for the Crafty Fairytale and Christmas Photography winners. People need time to create for these themes. They are not simple. :P

2009-01-17 [Alexi Ice]: I think they are *shifty eyes* keeping them pg 13 is whats not simple. Too bad there is not a written section, I wrote a really good story on forbidden love one time.

2009-01-17 [Artsieladie]: Well, if there is some serious interest shown for a contest or a new genre section to get added, the Council would be certainly willing to listen and perhaps open up such. I see those shifty eyes. hehe You ebil......

...'course you know I ain't! *ebil laugh*

2009-01-17 [Alexi Ice]: Well...I know that is bad because I don't meet many people interested in written selectins...*sigh* I wish I could find more, honestly. ^^ and yeah...I am just a tinsy bit ebil...mostly because I love forbidden love ^^ lol. !

2009-01-17 [Artsieladie]: Well, I know we have many good writers on Elftown. I would really like to bring them together more. Then we could place a little more emphasis on some prose contests, and we could make all or more writers aware of such contests. The art is very prevalent here on Elftown, but the writing doesn't seem to be as much so and I would like to see this status improved. This is why I set up Writers Rock!, but I haven't had much time to do much with it. But...I didn't set it up for myself. I set it up for all writers on ET. Therefore, the writers are more than welcome to do positive things with it. :)

I gave up on love 13 years ago, actually before that, and I swore it off! But.... -sigh-

2009-01-17 [Alexi Ice]: They are hard to judge really. Writers dont get as much love and most reall writers just write themselves off as 'poets' but it is hardly the same. And yeah I am already a member.

I should have sworn of love, I am in the middle of something really huge and scary right now because I didnt...lol

2009-01-17 [Artsieladie]: Hardly, is right. I knoooooow. *grins*

Well, love has always proved to be nothing more than heartbreak and frustration for me, so I figured, why bother!? :/ Valentine's Day is a day I'd just as soon forget it even existed. Ugh!

2009-01-17 [Alexi Ice]: Definatly!
I just like to eat chocolate.

2009-01-17 [Artsieladie]: Yeah, the chocolate is the only good thing! *mouth waters* ;)

2009-01-17 [Alexi Ice]: TOtally! Stupid valentines day is a thorn in my side but...I love the cute badges. hehehe.

2009-01-17 [Artsieladie]: They are cute. :) I always wanted a dozen long stemmed red roses for Valentine's, but I've given up on that notion. I'd be happy with just one now. I've had chocolate given to me with taffy inside. I don't care for taffy, but the other half liked taffy, so he ate it. What I dislike is when they give you something really fancy or elaborate, when all I ever wanted was something simple and from the heart. Fancy-smancy...poo! lol

2009-01-17 [Alexi Ice]: Really? That would be really sweet ^^ (The roses I mean)

Yeah I know what you mean, mostly I go out and buy myself something for valentines day just to make myself feel better...^^ Me and my girlfriends always get eachother something as well, because most of us are pathetically single.

2009-01-17 [Artsieladie]: Well, I think single is the way to go on several counts. I resent another trying to control me and it seems that every one I've ever been involved with feels this incessant need for control. I don't believe in controlling someone I care about and I hate it when they try to do it with me. But... if one 'can find' the right person to be happy with, I also say go for it, because life is shorter than we often realise. I think it is still better to give love and happiness a chance, if it presents itself, than to dismiss it altogether. No relationship is ever perfect and the good and the bad go together in the same package. My trouble is I always go for the best apple at the very top of the tree and I won't settle for anything less. Picky, picky, picky.. I am so bloody picky! :P

2009-01-17 [Alexi Ice]: I know how that goes, my standards are rediculously high...I need to work past that sometimes and learn to make exceptions but...why should I make exceptions and change myself for someone else...why can't they love me for who I am? Thats my main problem with this whole 'love' crap.

2009-01-17 [Hedda]: That love crap is about that you do stuff for others... It means changing yourself, but not in the way "Don't scream so much when you're drunk"-way but definitely in the "Take care of me when I need it"-way. If you don't want to change at all, then you'll get no love.

2009-01-17 [Alexi Ice]: Yeah ^^ Lol I am talking about unreasonable cases, like...stop talking to your friends, I don't like them, stop being so afraid of everything. Things you really have no serious control over.

2009-01-19 [Artsieladie]: Well, there's no point in settling for someone that doesn't interest you, because it is not fair to the person you are settling for. No matter what that person does, it will never be really right, even if it is. My so-called high standards are characteristics that will attract me, get my attention, but not necessarily 'requirements'. We often have what we conceive to be the ideal person in mind that we'd like to find, but more often than not, we will end up falling for someone other than who we envisioned. Love happens. It is not something we can program or place an order in for.

Some of the things that will get my attention, though, include: .... (To spare everyone present that doesn't like 'babble', my comment I originally placed here, I moved to Love: Who? Why? How?, where anyone who wants to babble about love can do so, in the comment section, on the page, I don't care.) The human psyche and the matters of the heart, I find very interesting.

There's nothing wrong with caring for someone, trying to change for someone, or trying to please someone, because loving someone is also about considering the other person's feelings, happiness, and well being as essential and paramount to their own. <img:stuff/mood-gif.gif>

2009-01-20 [Ariandra]: I think it would be great to see art and read poetry depicting "old" love. There seems to be no shortage of forbidden and twisted love art these days, and the idea of "old" love, (whether it's an old couple, or simply a longstanding relationship that isn't all passion, but shows a well developed companion bond) is sweet and takes some genuine thought to portray artistically.

2009-01-20 [Artsieladie]: I agree. It's easy to start a love, a romance, but it takes a lot on both sides to make it not just exist, but bloom and keep it blooming. :)

2009-01-23 [Ariandra]: No kidding! My hubby and I have been "working" (happily) on it for 18 years now! 8)

2009-01-23 [Artsieladie]: That's fantastic! The two of you deserve a lot of credit, because it is no small feat. :D So many think that the big challenge is in the capture, when the real challenge is in the keeping.
