Fake Pagans.
Can't live with them, and yes we could easily live without them.

Welcome to Playgans the psychotic rantings of the Exhibit A: [Delladreing]. Formed out of sheer madness and frustration Playgans was born out of a love for religion and genuine faith, mixed in with a healthy dosage of psychosis and religious zeal enough to make even the most devout fundamentalist feel ashamed.

The rant began in the year of 2004 and is still going strong. During this time Playgans has come under fire and been branded as a "hate site", Dela herself has been tainted with the foulness of such accusations.
The aim of Playgans was never to incite or promote religious hatred. The aim of Playgans was to educate the masses, the fakers found on the web, and to give those serious about their faith in the pagan world a place to come and have a bit of a chat. So far it has been working well and we now have a wider branch of readers than we ever had before. The fact that the site contains a lot of references to violence, and psychosis does not mean that the content found within is hate mongering. It is merely [Delladreing]'s style of writing. And mindset. (Heh.)

At this point she would like to thank all of those that have shown her project such support. Had there not been so much support and loyalty from readers she would have allowed Playgans to fade away a long time ago. Thank you to all of you :)

2005-08-04 [Rondel]: Hugs in passing to all who know me well enough to feel comfortable accepting them, & thanks again for the good wishes & rejoicing on our behalf. :) I survived my medical appointment (dental, this time, but I can't do local anaesthetics, so we had to go to the only place in the state that can do nitrous, because one of the cavities was too bad for me to do my usual routine of just "checking out" & letting them drill anyway -- which meant a 4-5 hour round trip (not counting time not spent on the road), so we're all utterly wiped out from it -- not counting the aftereffects of the chemical exposure from the half-dozen or so fillings & other work they did today -- whee fun)! MUST SLEEEP SOON!

2005-08-04 [JWOlette]: sounds like you had a lot of fun but im glad to hear you survived it

2005-08-04 [a faerie tale]: Whoop whoop! That sounds as much fun as being being burned fom the inside out. But hey, some people enjoy that. ^-^ Glad to know your getting better hun. Keep that up. *grins*

2005-08-04 [JWOlette]: dentists and doctors are very mean terrifying people

2005-08-05 [a faerie tale]: Ugh. I hate dentists. Doctors I can stand. I think they have a bit of a sense of humour. Wait...that's probably a bad thing, isn't it?  "Ms.Brewster, while fixing your nose, we also gave you breast implants! You may not like them, but hell, they make a for a good laugh!"

2005-08-05 [JWOlette]: wow now im really afaid of doctors

2005-08-09 [JWOlette]: homework aint you on holiday yet

2005-08-09 [Azuri]: Homework sucks and thanks for putting my eye back in i kinda need it for college

2005-08-10 [Rondel]: To those who have been remembering my husband and my family in circle: his leg is healing, the biggest wound has shrunk massively and visibly, and we're looking at a house tomorrow that may just be the one -- no carpets, plumbed rainwater, electric cooker, wood heat, near our doctors and organic food sources, 2 baths (important when all 3 members of the family have digestive illnesses), the second with a SPA BATH (one we can actually USE!!! <dances>), gardening included in the rent, and it's further out in the country than our last one was. The only things left to verify are traffic, nearby exposure sources (both should be minimal), and any lingering fumes from the painting of the floors.

2005-08-10 [Rondel]: THANK YOU ALL! Please don't take us off of your prayer lists yet -- we've still got the move to survive, and each one has made my husband worse in a way from which he has never truly recovered... ...but we're going to throw what pathetic savings we have at the problem, and make the problems go away that way. It makes our sole survival cushion (a few thousand dollars in retirement accounts we couldn't touch if we weren't "permanently disabled") into next-to-nothing -- but this is a long-term rental, and with luck and a fair wind, we may be able to use this chance to work with the new doc and actually get BETTER. We're just looking at it this way -- we're compound organisms, even our cells

2005-08-10 [Rondel]: run on energy produced by other organisms (mitochondria) which settled in them as hospitable environments, long ago -- & if our bodies can direct help to an area based on a message from a red blood cell, or a lymphocyte, how do we know that it doesn't work the other way? How do we know that we're not just as functionally a part of a larger macroscopic organism (the "Gaia hypothesis"), which can direct help to each of us, if we're just willing to ask for it when we need it? So, we're asking. We're asking the universe to make this survivable for all of us, & to give us the resources we need, so that we can do our jobs as parts of that macroscopic organism, & seek to give back what we can.

2005-08-10 [Delladreing]: Well now [Rondel] that is some of the best news I have heard in a while, I am really happt for both of you :D Although you will be needing a new candle for my altar, you have all but burned out, the funny thin was the flame kept going even after most of the wax had gone and the wick was miniscule, but it was just a big a flame than any other o.O *finds a repalcement and keeps it going too* ;)

2005-08-10 [Rondel]: *tries to laugh rather than cry* -- that candle sounds like us. :/ THANK YOU, hon. {{{HUGS}}}

2005-08-10 [Delladreing]: *hugs* i was thinking that myself lol, you are more than ever welcome my dear *hugs more*

2005-08-10 [Azuri]: Yay for Rondel! Im so glad things are starting to look up for you!

2005-08-10 [Falx]: Happiness for Rondel!

2005-08-11 [Rondel]: Y'all wanna know why this is such a big deal? http://www.emagazine.com/view/?1003 This is an article about the issue of homelessness among people with my condition (Environmental Illness/Multiple Chemical Sensitivity). And, it's tangentially on topic, because as I said, I *REALLY* don't understand how anyone can practise "earth-oriented spirituality" without caring about the poisoning of the earth, and the results it's having on ALL of the residents of this poor benighted planet, humans included. Mama Earth needs our care, and we need hers. That's the only way we're going to be able to keep caring for each other, as a family must in order to survive.

2005-08-11 [Delladreing]: the problem with modern society though is that we are less of a "family", its every man for themselves and most people dont care who they trample to get to the top. but you are right as ever [Rondel]

2005-08-11 [Rondel]: The thing is, I don't get how even the self-interested can miss the idea that it's going to affect them, unless they've never made it past the mental age where they think of themselves as immortal & bulletproof. Once past that view, it's hard to miss the idea that if the statistics say that 1 out of every 1 men is going to get cancer in the course of his life, THAT MEANS THEM, TOO! And, if the cancer rates are demonstrably linked to environmental pollution, seems to me that the MORE self-interested a person is, the MORE they wouldn't want THEIR world polluted, so that THEY get turned into one of those sick, disenfranchised people whom they loathe, despise & view as subhuman & useless.

2005-08-11 [Rondel]: And yes, maybe I expect a bit more of people whose religion is supposed to include some respect for the Earth. To me, that just doesn't go with rituals followed by rainforest-killing burgers & a side of pesticide-riddled fries. And yes, maybe that puts what I see as "real paganism" at odds with modern capitalistic lifestyles. Maybe I just expect too much of people; it's harder to take all of this stuff seriously when it hasn't touched your own life yet. Then again, the number of people I meet who know at least one person with Environmental Illness (besides me) just keeps going up, and up, and up -- so if that's what it takes, maybe we'll get there that way. I dunno, I just keep hoping.

2005-08-11 [Delladreing]: I am truly lucky where I am and theres no mistake. Its a small place to live in, theres only one main road and I am nowhere near it, sure there are cars, but I am more likely to look out my window over the fields and see horses. the level of polution in my area is next to nothing. I am surrounded by nature, I can walk for five minutes and then disapear into the woodlands, on the whole I think youd like it here Rondel ;)

2005-08-11 [Azuri]: Sounds like my new house Dela...trees everywhere good mile or three from real civalation its good..now if only that pesky church werent there>.< living with christians is tough

2005-08-11 [Delladreing]: bleh you'll learnt to deal :p

2005-08-11 [Azuri]: yea i kno ive been living with them all my life but this whole my g-pas a pastor thing>.< church three times a week i think ill explode before the years up

2005-08-11 [Delladreing]: oh yea i remember you telling me this...rough >.<

2005-08-11 [Azuri]: it will be ok if i keep my mouth shut and they never find out

2005-08-12 [Fuu]: I am on summer vacation. But I took a course at the local college for credits when I graduate high school. But it is over now. ^_^. Now I have to deal with another problem......... *mumbles*

2005-08-13 [Azuri]: im gonna miss summer vacations.stupid problems good luck with whatever it is

2005-08-13 [JWOlette]: hey how is everyone sorry i havent been on im on probation rite now and just got home from dh

2005-08-13 [Azuri]: probation? what for?

2005-08-13 [Fuu]: probation?

2005-08-14 [JWOlette]: i got it for assult

2005-08-14 [Azuri]: ah i c

2005-08-14 [Falx]: What happened?

2005-08-14 [JWOlette]: some fuckin dude was messin with one of my friends at scores/the bowling place and she was like 5 months pregnate and he slapped her across the face in front of me for no reason he hitt her so hard she fell to the ground and i beat the shit out of him and he called the cops but i only probation because i was protecting some one who couldnt protect herself and on top of that the chick is pregnate with my neice

2005-08-14 [Falx]: Good for you!

2005-08-14 [Fuu]: *claps* Good for you, i amy be against vioence but the guy deserved that one for hitting a pregnant woman

2005-08-15 [JWOlette]: thank ya and the time was worth the crime and im against violence ecept if its in self defence ot when your protecting someone

2005-08-15 [Azuri]: That guy so deserved it its a shame they gave you probation for doing such a good thing

2005-08-15 [JWOlette]: i know but i cant help that and i really dont care cuz i got to behave now any way no more gettin in trouble for me

2005-08-15 [I stabbith ye]: No...No more getting in trouble...*wacks* Hello everyone ^_^

2005-08-15 [JWOlette]: you dont understand how many times ive been in dh for protecting myself and shit its bull but i only get like 2 weeks and probaton and ive made alot of friends from thereso its all good

2005-08-16 [Azuri]: Ah yes well as thats crap that you get it for protecting yourself at least you made friends in the process

2005-08-16 [JWOlette]: yeah dh has become kinda like a second home for me all the guards and cops know me by voice/and name and thats sad really sad cuz i dont get in trouble unless i hav to

2005-08-16 [Rondel]: Sorry to hear about the probation; so far as I'm concerned, you were doing the right thing, though I don't know from that description whether or not you may have gone a *teensy* bit overboard. But, he was still breathing to call the cops, so it can't have been that far beyond what's appropriate given that he made an unprovoked violent assault on a pregnant girl/woman. It's a shame they couldn't give you the kind of commendation that I think people deserve when they defend the victim of an assault, particularly when that person is a "protected class" of person (child, pregnant, disabled, etc.). Will this go on your record in a lasting way, or are you still legally a juvenile? What's "dh"?

2005-08-16 [Rondel]: Now for OUR news -- & a thank you to a whole bunch of you. WE GOT A HOUSE!!! We're going to be only 10 minutes from where we were living before this last temporary housing move, in a long-term rental (1 year lease, w/ option to renew). The house meets all of our medical needs, though there are some minor worrisome elements; we nearly panicked when we saw the chlorination station right next to the property, but it's a sealed gas system, and the house itself is on rainwater, with LOTS of tanks. There's no carpet -- the floors are some stone, some painted concrete. The house has wood heat & electric cooking, & even a spa bath in the master bath. It's rural, though there is some traffic;

2005-08-16 [Rondel]: there's broad-acre farming within sight of the house (a pesticide risk), but not right up against the property -- we've got at least a few hundred meters of buffer zone. We've got a LOT to do in the next 2 weeks - we'll be moving in by the end of that time - so you won't be seeing much of us; but you'll all be in our thoughts & our hearts, as we're very grateful to all of you who've been praying(etc.) for us. We can still use your good wishes, as moves are DAMNED hard on us...but we won't be homeless, & the house appears to be more than just barely survivable. Also, Ken's wounds are closing up, noticeably & visibly. 1 is closed, two are mostly closed, the biggest is 1/2 the size now. :D

2005-08-16 [Delladreing]: *hugs [Rondel]* that is fantastic news, I am so very pleased to hear that. Na d as for the probation thing, good on you on managing to leave the guy alive, if it was me I'd probably be doing time just now for murder.

2005-08-16 [Rondel]: I've got more details about the house in my Diary here on ET, if anyone's interested in reading it. And, as of tonight's documentation photo session, Ken's shin wound is now even LESS than 1/2 its previous size. Keep those candles burning for us, folks, if you don't mind, as we've got a bit to live through yet, and that wound seems to have taken a turn for the better around the time I wrote to ask you folks for help. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions, but... ...please keep 'em burning. {{{HUGS}}} (I dunno that you or I would be doing time for murder -- self-control allows one to wait for a time when there are no unfriendly witnesses, if you can deal with the immediate threat...)

2005-08-16 [Delladreing]: you're going to need another candle ;) and as for the point about self control yes id have to agree, i probably would wait for no wintesses ^_-

2005-08-16 [JWOlette]: ok yes im still a juvinile and no it wont be on my record all juvinile offenders records are closed when they turn 18 thank god and dh is short for juvinile detention hall or lockup what ever you wanna call it and at least i didnt send him to the hospital this time with a broken jaw and arm yes this isnt the first time hes done this and the cops do know this thats why the courts are so light on me i know all of the judges they came to my 16th b-day party it was interesting and im only on probation for 2 months which isnt bad ill be off before my birthday and im glad to hear the happy news rondel and you will still be in our prayers

2005-08-17 [Rondel]: I'm glad that you're not facing a lasting record for this (if only because it's harder to get protected if the legal system sees you as offender, rather than victim), & I agree that you responded in a VERY understandable & appropriate way, all things considered. I'm really glad to hear that the courts are viewing the situation the same way. {{{HUGS}}} (if welcomed) Thanks for keeping us in your prayers, we can use it, & yes, I'm glad to have happy news to share, after so long. Ken's shin even took only one XL bandage today, rather than the double-sized ones we've been making for it! Yay! It's a nice step toward healing, & I swear it started shrinking when I asked you all to pray 4 us.

2005-08-19 [a faerie tale]: eep....so many comments! I go to LA, and now everthing has changed! *cries* Wait...whats going on?

2005-08-19 [a faerie tale]: "I am committed to the First Amendment principles of religious freedom, tolerance, and diversity. Whether Mormon, Methodist, Jewish, or Muslim, Americans should be able to participate in their constitutional free exercise of religion. I do not think witchcraft, paganism and wicca as it is sometimes called, is a religion, and I do not think it is in any way appropriate to...promote it."

2005-08-19 [a faerie tale]: -George W. Bush, as Governer

2005-08-19 [Delladreing]: oh thats an old one from dear old George...i wazs never sure if he made a public apology or not.

2005-08-19 [a faerie tale]: *sigh* No, he never did. I just came across it in old debate papers. Though y'all might wanna hear it.

2005-08-19 [Delladreing]: blah silly man, but its what happens when you let what is effectively a fundamentalist into govt.

2005-08-19 [a faerie tale]: well I didn't vote for him.

2005-08-19 [Delladreing]: if i was in the country i wouldnt vote for him either. but some folks did...now all we need to do is find them and jump on their heads >.<

2005-08-19 [Falx]: I'm a Republican and I didn't vote for him. I think it says something when members of your own politcal party think you're too reactionary for their tastes.

2005-08-19 [Fuu]: O.oo.O My my my I sure missed a bunch didn't I? Sorry I haven't popped in to say hey, Marching Band has started so I have little to no time for computer. But hey at one point during rehearsal I get to hit the evil brass or low brass section. (Preferably the ones who pick on me and the rest of the colorguard.) Anyway how has everyone been lately?

2005-08-19 [Falx]: Good on this end. You're in band?! What instrument do you play?

2005-08-20 [Fuu]: I'm in the colorguard as I said. We're the ones that spin the flags, rifles, sabres, etc etc on the field. And when one of the intruments gets in our way they get hit. It's kinda funny sometimes as long as we don't hit them hard... lol. But I do play the clarinet, but I haven't played for two years now.

2005-08-20 [JWOlette]: hmm bush is wrong when he said that wicca/paganism is not a religion it is in fact the only religion the US army or government people reconize thats sad when our president out leader doesnt know that hmm oh well i still think he needs shot but thats besides the point

2005-08-20 [Azuri]: Bush is as my friend puts it a Spoot head he will never change and no one can blame me for him as i didnt vote for him...stupid bastard what with his all gay marriage is bad and so is anything else out of the ordinary>.<

2005-08-20 [Rondel]: Eep -- I had to look twice to see if I'd come to Playgans or the Bush Haters Association! There are some fascinatingly relevant quotes there, currently, on much the same thread. I seem to recall some relevant ones posted in their "debate/discussion" forum, as well, for those who are interested.

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: Yes, well I am a hardcore liberal, and any chance I get to rip is guts out in political debate, I take it! ^_^

2005-08-20 [Delladreing]: I'm Scottish, thats all I need to rip someones guts out ;) that and the fact Tony Blair is Bushes lapdog and I despise the fact that we had to follow them into Iraq -.-

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: Ugh. The whole Iraq thing. Don't even get me started........ I hate America. >.<

2005-08-20 [Delladreing]: dont mind some of the people, but damn that country needs a kicking ;)...unfiortunately its the biggest kid in this playground we call the world...

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: We're the teenager of the world. We go around, "Fuck you man, we're America, we don't have to listen to you! I've got the bomb."

2005-08-20 [Delladreing]: I had an interesting chat with someone not too long ago. We were "play fighting" as it were, trying to wind the other up. Their response was "I'm American, I win by default" mines was "I'm Scottish and we will just see about that :P" I use the sterio type of the rebelous Scott to my convenience. It also helps I have family links back to the clan of Bruce and so on "but i cant help it! I'm just doing what my blood tells me too I swear!" its quite funny lol. but yes America is the big bully of the playground waving their big fancy war toys around to scare all the little kiddies.

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: *sigh*

2005-08-20 [Rondel]: All too true, and please don't get the mistaken idea that I don't agree with you -- I just had to check which link I'd clicked, because I follow both wikis. Heck, I've probably provided at least a tenth of the posts in the comments section of the Bush Haters Association myself! I just wasn't expecting the sudden directional turn that this wiki had taken in its conversation. And, given that it HAS taken it, I'm surprised that nobody's posted any of Bush&Co's more recent anti-pagan quotes. There are some real doozies in the set, of which at least one was quoted on the BHA wiki just recently -- hence my referring you folks there to have a look for it. As for "we have the BOMB"....

2005-08-20 [Rondel]: ...the US is far from the only country to have nuclear weapons. What differentiates us/them (my country by birth & current citizenship, not by residence in the present or future) is that the US is the ONLY country to have EVER used nuclear weapons in a war. Many people own guns -- how many have used them to shoot someone? That's the difference. The US is the world's only remaining global superpower, and it got full of itself when it lost what it saw as its main rival. But, the educational system is abysmal, the best and brightest fear the current govermental trends & many have left, & there is every reason to believe that it will cripple itself from within -- but not until AFTER it has

2005-08-20 [Rondel]: hurt everyone who scares it by virtue of simply existing and being different. And I *HATE* the fact that its cruelties are committed in *MY* name, as a citizen. The sad thing is, it was a place with a lot going for it, and could have been the shining light of freedom and rectitude as which it still views itself. It simply chose not to. The US was never a paragon of virtue -- but it had great strengths, and if it had chosen to, it could have built on them, instead of choosing to tear others down to make itself feel good. It is an example of dysfunctional psychology on its grandest scale. *sigh*

2005-08-20 [Delladreing]: Agreed. I am going to be a teacher (surprised anyone? lol) and I have the opportunity to study and teach over there for 6 months at a time. they are desperately trying to rope people in to improve the education system. The rate of high school drop outs is unbelievable there apparently

2005-08-20 [Rondel]: And that's not taking into account that they have a system of "social passing", where you can be passed on to the next grade with an F average. *sigh* I've known high school graduates who can't even find their own country's capitol, or the nation of Canada (their nearest neighbour) on a map, much less doing anything "complicated", like making change. It's pretty scary -- and that's not even counting the states where Creationism is a mandatory part of a public school education, but Sex Ed is NOT. *rolls eyes* Then they're actually SURPRISED when they have a huge rate of teen pregnancy (although statistically, most of that is due to sex crimes, often incest or acquaintance rape) & STDs.

2005-08-20 [Delladreing]: *rolls her eyes* its messed up, it really is

2005-08-20 [Azuri]: ah the american education system sucks i know nothing of math thanks to a teacher who has no business being a teacher. ive experinced the social passings and i swear that my highschool had half the maternaty ward last year and i dont know how many of them had STD *EWW*. creationism i thought was banned and now they teach evolution(least thats whats been taught to me>.<)I got taught about sex in middle school threw the health class and as a freshmen too. Drop out rate is riducalous>.< ive seen many people drop out in their last year! How retarded is that?>.< I hate america and agree it needs a good kicking even though i am from america...Do you think theyd convict me if i killed bush?;D

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: Awww....thanks guys.

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: I tend to speak out in all my classes, I remember once in sex ed, I asked the teacher why we had Abstinence only Programs, when teens are obviously going to have sex anyway, and why don't we teach kids how to put a condom on, or how to ask your parens for birth control pills instead, and she said, because abstinence is the only answer, and that pre-marital sex is wrong. I think that's the reason we have so many teen pregnancies. Stupid educating system.

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: In biology my science teacher, (the best teacher ever in the whole wide world mind you) was trying to teach evolution, and some kid said that that wasn't how the earth was made, God created it, and that was that. My teacher continued to say that if he did not wish to learn the other side of the story, he might as well sit in the principals office. He stayed.

2005-08-20 [Azuri]: Yea i kno. if kids felt comfy asking their parents for birth control or knew how to use a condom properly instead of being forced the old "Sex is bad before marriage" speach then maybe we wouldnt have so many but you kno how the old people are>.<

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: Not as riveting as some stories, but it was a good day.

2005-08-20 [Azuri]: I think evenidually the other countrys are gonna gang up on america for its stupidity

2005-08-20 [a faerie tale]: I hope so. I consider myself a "temporary resident" in this country. I'm moving back to Irleand as soon as I can.

2005-08-20 [Azuri]: I wanna go to japan to be a animator but first i need to learn the lanuage>.<

2005-08-21 [a faerie tale]: Yes..that is a bit of a problem, you not knwing the language and all.

2005-08-21 [Azuri]: yes yes i kno>.< it plagues me but eventually ill get off my ass and learn it

2005-08-21 [a faerie tale]: I know one or two exotic words, and it's hyitsu (sp?) And it means bastard. (pronounces hi-iss-oo)

2005-08-21 [Azuri]: Lol i know a few but they are random off the wall phrases that i normally cant remember very well

2005-08-21 [Rondel]: My knowledge of Japanese is limited to some customs, and three of the essential words: konichiwa, domo arigato (or just domo, informally), and sayonara. Anyone here know what those mean? Hint: they're basic politeness words. And yes, they ARE teaching Creationism in the schools again, in many of the Southern US states; there are also scientists who are pushing for Creationism through a back door, calling it "the Theory of Intelligent Design", and claiming that it's not connected with any specific religious belief system. But yes, it is the Christian Right Wing that is pushing much of the stupidity that is behind the "dumbing down of America.

2005-08-21 [Rondel]: Those same Southern states are the ones where the Stokes Monkey Trial took place, or (for example) one state had, for a while, a state law which legally set the value of Pi equal to 3. We are not talking about people who accept reality when it conflicts with their Book. *sigh* I find it odd that there are parents who raise their children in ignorance; I can understand them intellectually, but I cannot relate to them. My own daughter has known where she came from, and how children are conceived, as well as the basics of what is and isn't right between people who are and aren't lovers, since she was knee high (literally). We started with simpler explanations, but always truthful ones.

2005-08-21 [Rondel]: Language studies are fun, though; my 8-year-old knows a bit of French & German, as well as a few words in Spanish & Japanese, & has a vocabulary in English which is far beyond most American teenagers (reading mostly books that are old enough to be Public Domain, & available as eBooks, has helped a lot with that). As for me, growing up, one of my great goals in life was to be able to swear in as many languages as possible; it's convenient, because it allows me to vent my emotions with a very low risk of offending my listeners, when I so choose. For those who share that interest, one of my most obscure tidbits of knowledge is that "la fuche" ("lah foosh") is Hungarian for "horse's ass". :)

2005-08-21 [Azuri]: My my >.< sometimes i dispise my own goverment so much its unconsivable that they want to "dumb down america" but i guess bush wants us all down to his standards and whatnot so we dont laugh at him. I really want to learn japanese because i really really want to be a animator and i know it is a good place to go(what with animated features being so big there)for that kind of thing. I love to read and im very saddened by the older people in my family. i found out the other day that my mom didnt even know the mean of the word random....RANDOM! come now i thought everyone knew that word>.< it seems you are doing a wonderful job with your daughter. kids who are taught many things at a young age

2005-08-21 [Azuri]: are more likly to do better in life. so bravo [Rondel] and yes not only do i need to learn the language so i can speak it but it is rather nifty to be able to cuss someone out and not have them know it.

2005-08-21 [a faerie tale]: I also know oya sumi nassi, which means good night

2005-08-21 [Rondel]: Well, part of it with kids & languages is just that their minds are so much more flexible, geared to learning such things, at that age. It only makes sense to give them access to the things that their brain is wired to take in, at the ages where they're easy to absorb, rather than waiting until the subject is difficult & THEN trying to cram it down their throats. *sigh* But you can't teach educators, or at least not those in charge, it seems. I agree with you that Japanese is a good subject to pursue given your goals, which make perfect sense given your interests. :) And your mom's impoverished vocabulary appalls me. It's truly sad when these are the examples being set for our youth.

2005-08-21 [Azuri]: Yup that is most defently why its easier to teach kids young then wait. Educators are so stuck in their ways that i wouldnt be surprised if the students were teaching the teachers before long>.< yea my entire family has that problem i think im the only one in the family aside from one of my cousins who read exessive amounts of books. It always confuses them when i say big words which does make me wonder where i got the need to read and my artist ablities from

2005-08-22 [Rondel]: I've had to teach my teachers, at times -- or my fellow students, or even, in one case, the class itself -- it was the only way I could get one school to offer a class in topology. I took one student from failing all math classes he'd ever taken, to inspired and in love with math -- by way of teaching a class in a mathematical subject so esoteric that none of the teachers at the school were qualified to teach it. Or, another of my favourites -- kids scared of algebra. You know what it takes to get them over it? Explain to them that "x" or "n" is the same as the __ that they used to answer all the time, in math problems back in 1st grade. Poof, no more problems.

2005-08-22 [Delladreing]: oh no mathematics, i failed that for a second time this year due to the lack of teaching. i am never taking it again >.< if i had had a good teacher and not been told since i was 10 that i was incapable of doing mathematics because i was stupid then perhaps i might have stood a chance. but it was purely my hatred for the subject and the teachers which i feel led to me not being able to do it, it certainly was not from lack of trying.

2005-08-22 [Delladreing]: which is why i am determied, that when i am a teacher the child will not be put down. i watched the most brilliant english teacher (i thank the gods for that man every day) teaching hooligans the joy of reading at the age of 14 and showing them that what society thought of them did not have to be how their life turned out. both of them got a qualification in the english subject, a good high qualifification and then walked straight into jobs because of it. if they hadn't got that one subject under their belts they would have been forever shunned by society as being stupid which Gray (my teacher) knew was unfair and could not let happen. i forever stand by my conviction that one good teacher..

2005-08-22 [Delladreing]: can change a childs outlook on learning and life if they are caught young enough.

2005-08-22 [Rondel]: And, by the same token, one bad teacher can ruin a person's education, and scar them for life, as well as ruining their future prospects. Believe it or not, when I was 7, I had a teacher convince me that I hated math. 8 years later, I was teaching topology to high school dropouts at an alternative school. The kid I turned on to math was used to thinking of himself as stupid, and well on the way to a worsening arrest record. That's one of the reasons I feel so good about that encounter. These days, I'm homeschooling my daughter (for health reasons), and I'm very proud of her progress. She loves learning, and I've helped her keep that love; few things in life could make me happier. :)

2005-08-22 [Delladreing]: Its a testimony to your skills as a teacher and as a mother [Rondel]. I know mothers who would kill to have their children interested in learning.

2005-08-22 [Azuri]: *nod* I wish i had a mother like you [Rondel] i felt like i was raising my sister. the teachers she had last year were horrible and then you had our mother and our stepfather not helping the situation at all.i saw her go into drugs and into acholl(SP?) and all kinds of stuff because people were telling her she was stupid and wouldnt make anything of herself and then i had to go and step in because our mother wasnt doing anything and i got her off the drugs and out of the acholl. I nearly murdered my stepfather cause hes always threating to beat her and then wanted my mom to throw her out! shes 14!>.< He didnt even care if she lived on the streets!

2005-08-23 [a faerie tale]: (broken it's alcohol) Reminds me a bit of my dad, without the step part. He's not that proud of the gay me... >.<

2005-08-23 [Azuri]: (thanks faerie)mmyesh im sure my family wouldnt be proud of me neather what with me being a bisexual DnD playing Harry Potter reading Pagan and all..

2005-08-23 [Azuri]: *beats the stupid people*

2005-08-23 [a faerie tale]: tsk tsk tsk. He's what started my Anorexia......*grrrrrr* (fine now)

2005-08-23 [Azuri]: Bah*beats faeries dad* Bastard. Glad to kno that your ok now though

2005-08-23 [a faerie tale]: Yeah, it was a rough six months. Can I eat this? No... Won't eat that....Going to the gym! Be back at five! *blows away by the wind*

2005-08-23 [Azuri]: Wow crazyness. how did you eventually get over it?

2005-08-23 [a faerie tale]: Intervention. I love my friends. It was hard though, I'd eat a brownie, and want to throw up. *shameness*

2005-08-23 [Falx]: I substituted in a classroom for 5th graders with learning and behavioral disorders for a year. Talk about kids with defeatist attitudes. I asked them an opinion question, you know the ones that start with "What do you think..." Well, one of the kids raised his hand and answered, "No offense, Ms. Vogtman, but if we thought, we wouldn't be in this class." This same kid made model rockets and was telling me all about how he wanted to make his rocket go higher and how he figured out that if he hollowed out the tube for the engine, he could fit in a bigger engine and make it go higher. But, he thinks he's stupid. All I can wonder is what kind of things they've been told, been brought to believe

2005-08-23 [Falx]: about themselves. I made a promise to myself that day that I wouldn't let the kids I teach ever feel that defeated about themselves. I felt like I was the first teacher they'd had that actually believed in their abilities and was interested in how they were thinking.

2005-08-24 [a faerie tale]: Fortunately, I've had some good teachers in school. Most of them seemed genuinely interested in me and what I was thinking. Those were the good ones. In eighth grade, I think I had some of the best teachers.

2005-08-24 [Azuri]: You kno i think i had some of my very best teachers early on in my learning carreer. Why do high school teachers seem to care less than middle school and elementry teachers?

2005-08-24 [a faerie tale]: Because they don't. :-)

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: I've known a lot of parents who say that they "would kill" to have their children interested in learning -- but would they read to them every night? Would they play learning games with them? Would they show enthusiasm over the child's interests & discoveries, even if they seemed obvious to the adult? Most wouldn't. "Killing" you only have to do once -- not every day, for (*a bare minimum of*) several hours a day -- like parenting. *sigh* No wonder kids get messed up, whether its on drugs / alcohol, violence / crime, or control / self esteem issues (like anorexia). So many people forget that parenting isn't something that goes away when the kid stops being cute, & starts thinking for

2005-08-24 [a faerie tale]: I'm so glad that my mother was (and still is) one of those involved parents. At times when I was younger, I hated it, and hoped she would die, but now, I am so greatful.

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: themselves. That very behaviour (thinking for myself) is what lay behind the *one* time my step-father hit me (across the throat -- he's a blacksmith, and I lost my voice for 3 days -- lucky nothing broke permanently, & that's only because he pulled the blow at the last moment) -- he was about ready to jump up & down, screaming "don't you talk back to me". I walked out of the room, grabbed my backpack & a few things, & said I'd be home in a week. Then I went to a friend's house (within walking distance), where I had a key. I stayed there at first, then arranged other places to stay, where my parents didn't know the people involved. I called (this was before callerID) *once* to let my

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: folks know I was alive & "okay" -- & when my mom started asking where I was, I hung up. I was true to my word, came home a week later -- didn't even miss a class (community college -- the whole "prodigy" thing). My mother (who'd always sworn that she'd leave any man who ever laid a finger on one of her daughters, tried to be conciliatory, arranged for family counseling, & agreed that if I was unwilling to live under the same roof with the man, I "could move out, as soon as I had a job & the necessities of life". Within 3 months, I owned everything necessary to furnish an apartment. But I couldn't get a job -- because I was 14. Within a year I was home full-time, clinically depressed.

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: Of course, in the 3 months between the striking incident & my owning all that stuff, the first of the violent rapes happened, at the hands of a stranger -- whom my step-father introduced me to, the next morning, as an old friend of his. And then I went from a 3-week menstrual cycle to a 6-week one, and spent most of a month scared spitless that I was pregnant as a result of either that assault, or the acquaintance rape which had preceded it. There were a number of reasons for that clinical depression. There are also a number of reasons why I'm the kind of parent I am. I refuse to be like my own parents. They're wonderful people in some ways, but f***ed up where family's involved.

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: I'm just glad that I had the sense to get out of there as soon as I safely could, and didn't do it by way of marrying someone as bad or worse. I *did* wind up leaving home to live with the guy I was engaged to, and later married (my husband, who *ALSO* reads to our daughter every night, & helps homeschool her), but I married for love, and I married my best friend, someone I could (and did) trust with my life. And when I did so, he saved it (long story, involves one of the stalkers I've mentioned here previously). Point is, it's not where you came from, it's what you do with what it taught you.

2005-08-24 [a faerie tale]: ....lots of word there hun. lots of words.

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: *shrugs* I haven't figured out a good way to do charades over the computer? And I had things to say...

2005-08-24 [Delladreing]: Although charades over the computer might be fun...butI can understand why there are so many words. Sometimes there's just too much to say in one simple line. I myself am an utter "diary whore" in that I type and type and type to get it out my head.

2005-08-24 [a faerie tale]: Too many words tend to make my head spin. I have mild dyslexia. And ADD. Which accounts for my...Oooo! A bird!

2005-08-24 [Delladreing]: *chuckles* oh dear >.<

2005-08-24 [Azuri]: ^.^ Ah ADD my old nemesis>.< You really have been threw alot [Rondel] and you really have alot of good advice for people.Heh i think my mom promised somthing along the lines of what your mother promised you. but after the 6th or 7th time of me having to protect my sister from a beating we figured it wasnt gonna happen and we figured for surre that after he hit her and she threatened to call the cops and he said shed be dead before she got the phone we thought for surre shed leave him...nope counsling...sence when has counsling done any good for a realtionship like that? oviously hes mentaly unstable(and unwilling to take his meds>.<) so you would think she would leave him. i know i didnt go

2005-08-24 [Azuri]: home the entire summer of this event and even about 4 months after school had started again i was still basicly living at my friends house and going to where my sister and mother were to sleep. i still hate that man with the firey passion of hell and am sooo glad and thankful that my grandparents let me stay at their house for college or i would have probly ended up going to a instate college. something i didnt want very much.i wanted to leave behind my past and go somewhere no one knew me and start over

2005-08-24 [a faerie tale]: Ugh. State collages.

2005-08-24 [Azuri]: Yea everyone told me to go to Ball State but i simply didnt want to be in the state anymore. I chose to go to ITT Tech which i could have done in Indianapolis but once again wanted out of state and people didnt seem to and still dont get this.

2005-08-24 [a faerie tale]: Sara Lawrence. One, only.

2005-08-24 [Azuri]: that sounds familar but i cant remember>.<

2005-08-24 [a faerie tale]: it's a college in New York, it used to be Womens only, but they decided to make it co-ed to please the male race.

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: If it helps any, I get it. That's a big part of why I now live on the other side of the globe. The person who hurt me the worst has a criminal record, and can't get into this country, legally. Nor is he ever likely to have the money to come. As for my parents, eventually, after I threatened them with a restraining order enough times (and they knew I had the evidence necessary to get one, and had done so twice before, against other people), they stopped trying to contact me. Now my mother just tries to manipulate family friends into carrying messages for her -- but explaining to all our friends & family that if you do that, you don't get our contact info when we move put a stop to that.

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: And no, counseling only helps people who want help -- and the guy you describe doesn't want help. And, any parent serious about protecting their kids will say "fine, you can get counseling, and when you've finished, send word through (specified neutral third party), and you may get contact, or even get us back -- but until then, I'm doing what I have to, to protect my kid(s). Love does not mean rolling over and accepting abuse. It means standing up for the person inside of the abuser and saying "I believe you are stronger than your drive to abuse -- now, prove it, by getting the help you need to get over whatever messed you up this way." *shrugs* That's my view, at least.

2005-08-24 [Rondel]: Men are not a separate race. Many of them are even decent people. You can tell, in part, by the fact that they can tell you what's wrong with the way the bad ones act -- and they don't turn around & act like them, afterwards. I know, I married one like that. Messed up, sure, who escapes childhood without being? But HE, like me, viewed parenting as something that means it's your job to fix yourself so you can be a good person, & a good parent. For his sake, I don't like people lumping all men in together, or treating them as a separate type of being. I've seen too much of that, especially in the world of paganism. P.S. He's not like that because he's my "tame" or "pet" male, either.

2005-08-24 [Azuri]: Yup people who are willing to change are the only people who benifit from conceling. There are alot of good guys still in the world and alot of bad ones too(i kno ive met my share of both) its a shame thought that the good guys are slowly dwendling due to the way americas future is being raised and soon it may come to they are extremly rare(i hope that never happens)and ive seen alot of that too. my last two best friends have done that at least once or twice i remember cause i cant stand it when people do that(that being making a male their "Pet") Unfair treatment of anyone just gets me in a way that i could hurt someone or at least yell alot!^.^

2005-08-25 [Rondel]: Sorry if I seemed overly touchy on the subject -- it's just a form of bigotry that my husband has faced a LOT, especially in the pagan community... ...and yesterday, we had another interaction which strongly suggested that it was just such a bias which lay behind the incident. The person involved wasn't doing the "pet" thing, though -- that's one I encounter regularly from *outside*; many pagan women tolerate my husband (an ordained neopagan minister who regularly counsels rape/sexual abuse survivors) by dismissing him as my "pet" or "tame male" -- something which angers and sickens me. And, like a white person facing bigotry against a black friend, I can't help feeling like I'm assumed

2005-08-25 [Rondel]: by the perpetrator to be "like them" - & that makes me feel even sicker about the whole situation. I don't want to be accepted by anyone who likes me only because I am female, & assumes that I, like them, mistrust *ALL* males. Yes, I've got justified reasons to be nervous/scared of SOME men/boys -- but the women/girls who have this attitude are at least as much of the problem, IMHO. How can women raise their sons to be good men, if they believe that all men are inherently incapable of being better than "pets" or "tamed" versions of their "reprehensible" selves??? It is women who should bear much of the blame for the changes you speak of. "The hand that rocks the cradle" has that power.

2005-08-26 [CelticMoon]: HAY DELA DELA DELA KINS (and everyone els) i got my gcse results back
