It contents a message like this: "We are holding Kermit the frog Hostage, he's our entertainer now. www.kermyinthecity.com" by a 'Stuart Brown'. Because Elfwood is down (or my pc can'T find the server...?) I thought I could ask if you know something about it. There has been a couple more people who get this mail, but I can't believe that one of the Elfwood mods would send around this message. Any clue?!

2005-05-15 [shotokan_gal]: Well, its an aspect of elfwood that email addresses are public on all gallery pages, so a spammer could get hold of your email. However, they are there in a way which isn't easy for computers to automatically harvest (apparantly, I don't have the first-hand knowledge of how these things work myself) = more difficult work for spammers, having to go through easy gallery individually and take the email addy off it. I've gotten a few spam mails in this way, but not many. Its just unfortunate. Just block the address and move on :)

If you don't want to receive such mails you should keep your email a secret. You could of course report the member, so we can do somethign about it if the member keeps doing it to several people (this in a case that an Elftown-member keeps spamming emailinboxes).
