The 30 Day Contest

2007-02-23 [iippo]: It ever so slightly seems to defeat the purpose. o.O The point is to get you to sit and work on your art for every day, to make a piece from start to finish... I'd say no, because doing it all on one go is more interesting, more intense (and it's a bit unfair to judge if some people work intensly without going back the next day to fix things, and someone else takes their time and works on something for many days and enters it as if it has been done in one day...)
But after the contest if you have done something very interesting during this thing, I do encourage you to work on it further afterwards, just to see what you can do with an interesting thing done in a day if you are given all the time you need (sorry, this is my mahjongg philosophy shining through :P) But yeah, all done in one day please. :3

2007-02-24 [iippo]: And forcing yourself to draw everyday for a month might get you into a good habit of practicing daily and you might end up keeping it up after the contest, which would be great. Drawing's a skill just like any other skill - regular practice is key.

Oh, and I have another question as well, if I decide to enter another contest in addition to this one during the thirty days, is that contest entry valid here as well or will I have to make a whole new drawing for this competition?

2007-02-24 [iippo]: As long as it is done on that day and the other contest allows it as well, then yes it's fine. Usually those "enter unique work" -rules have the point that people will actually bother to make new work, but since that is the entire point of this contest, it works well. :) And that's actually a kind of a good idea - if you can't think of what to draw for here, you can have a look at other contests' themes and do something that fits them.

2007-02-24 [Sienta]: Hmmmmm...... Now, the problem is not that I don't draw every day. I draw WAY too much. Usually all over my schoolwork. ^_^ But Will I actually have time to POST it. And I'm such a procratinator. STILL! This could be good to help me cure myself of procrastination. And so we go.

2007-02-26 [iippo]: o.O We are talking about visual arts. Not that making a poem for every day for a month wouldn't be awesome, it's just that text and art can't be compared and judged fairly. So while I heartily encourage you to do that, it can't really be an entry if it isn't an image - simply because of the judging: everybody voting in the polls would not read text entries, they'd look at the pictures and vote from those.

2007-03-12 [windowframe]: They couldn't do that anyway, for a multitude of reasons. 1. The pages don't exist before then, so it'd be fairly obvious they posted it beforehand. 2. I'd get a wiki-changes notification before the day, 3. Even if I didn't notice, somehow, possibly due to temporary blindness, the time of editing is recorded every time you edit a page, so we could see from that, that they edited before the specific day, etc. etc.

It's just entirely a joke based on my first typo... however, it does mean that next contest, the correct spellings of the pages will still be free. :D

2007-04-01 [windowframe]: Yeah... next time, I think we might put the deadline at a different time - for the first half of teh contest ET time was in sync with England time, so I only had to stay up till midnight, then we did the day-light saving shift thing, so we were an hour ahead; so I had to stya up till 1 every day. Bit much. o.<

I figured ET-time was the easiest way I could do it without showing favour to anyone in particular; but, eh. I don't mind late nights every now and then, but 30 in a row was a bit much. :P

What I meant was I put so much time and effort into my drawings, and none of them turned out decently. Sorry about that...

And every artist does things in their own style, with their own shape and according to their own skills. So, loads of effort/caring = good; little effort/caring = bad. That's what counts, because it will make you become an even better artist! :)

But I mean more as an artist to put a lot of effort into a drawing and it turns out to not reflect the amount of time and effort put into it. Like I spend three hours on it and the outcome looks more like a two mintue doodle; it doesn't reflect all my effort on it. I hope this is clearer (the third time round).
