2006-01-30 [spiritee]: arte badges?
2006-01-30 [shotokan_gal]: Fixed ^^ thanks!
2006-01-30 [Corazie]: Cool Badges XD
2006-01-31 [MidSuMMer.Nights]: is 52 lines way too long?
2006-01-31 [Sunrose]: Everything over 35 lines gets removed.
2006-01-31 [MidSuMMer.Nights]: oh... ok then i won't enter it - i'll have to think of something else
2006-01-31 [Sunrose]: I'm sure you'll manage..
2006-02-01 [Dark Necromancer]: i participated!
2006-02-01 [too dark]: this is mine
2006-02-01 [Sunrose]: Valentine Poetry 06, page 2 is now open.
2006-02-01 [spiritee]: wow, already O_O
2006-02-02 [Aidan Ryuko]: yay they are finally here, i've waited for these:)
2006-02-06 [living_proof]: yaa
2006-02-08 [jessik789]: How do I submit a poem? :(
2006-02-08 [Sunrose]: I answered that on the other page you asked :)
2006-02-10 [Rove]: gaa....i cant get something up untill moday its to late TT.TT
2006-02-12 [immortal daydreams.]: i have a problem, i hope someones on and can help me. i couldnt get on ET yesterday, becasue my computer was messed up. can i still enter one?
2006-02-12 [Sunrose]: No.
2006-02-13 [Noxme]: damn it i didnt know it was going on, and i missed it, its great to be busy all the time now! ah well
2006-02-14 [Heather Thomason]: i probably wont win this i really did want to though but i never win anything,, :( well whoever wins Good Job!
2006-02-14 [Melocrie]: Who are the winners?
2006-02-14 [Heather Thomason]: i dunno
2006-02-14 [Estantia]: featured poetry, though where that is...
2006-02-14 [Sunrose]: As the news says they are in the featured poem slot. And as the featured poem slot says they will be announced shortly. Read before asking ;)
2006-02-14 [Melocrie]: Next time I will, when I know where the featured poem slot is
2006-02-14 [Goldice]: i cant find the winners
2006-02-14 [Teufelsweib]: The featured poem slot is on the main street.
2006-02-14 [Heather Thomason]: so has the winners been posted yet?
2006-02-14 [Sunrose]: Not yet :)
2006-02-14 [eskimo_bob]: oh okay.. thanks
2006-02-14 [Heather Thomason]: so do u know how much longer it will be?
2006-02-14 [Sunrose]: Stop asking would help.
2006-02-15 [Heather Thomason]: well that was rude.........!
2006-02-15 [Charybdis]: Please keep in mind, [Heather Thomason], that not only did this contest only close a few days ago, but that there are also three pages of entries to read through and a number of winners to be selected, which will take time even without considering the fact that whoever is judging has an offline life to lead as well. The winners will be announced; be patient.
2006-02-15 [Tawnee.]: where is the featured poetry????????
2006-02-15 [RiddleRose]: it's right below the art winners, but i don't think it's actually posted yet. there are rather a lot of poems for the judges to go through! >.<
2006-02-15 [Eveningsdawn]: Ohhhhhh. That message makes so much more sense now.
2006-02-15 [Diiwica]: lol, judging the poetry is a rather hard thing to do, being there are so many that have been posted.
2006-02-15 [True, plain and simple]: Naah..I just haven't gotten around to posting the winners yet, mainly because so many people keep complaining, and I am quite busy. -shrugs-
2006-02-15 [RiddleRose]: and they're all so goshbedarnded good! good luck all! ^.^
2006-02-15 [Diiwica]: That would be a good reason not to^.^
2006-02-17 [Sunrose]: By the by, the winners were posted on Mainstreet a day or so ago. Take a look at the daily/featured poem slot :) Congrats winners!
2006-02-17 [Tawnee.]: a good poem doesn't always rhyme.. so why were all the winners rhyming poems?.... i think that there should be differnen't judges that know that there is more to a poem then rhyming!
2006-02-17 [Sunrose]: I don't think judges are obligated to pick a poem that doesn't rhyme, just to get different kind of poems. They have to be good.
2006-02-17 [Teufelsweib]: besides the rhyming part, the poems are great. rhyming is used to give the poem a good flow, but there are more ways to create a good flow in a poem. the winners appearently all chose this way of writing their poem. do you really think that the judges only picked out the poems which rhymed?
2006-02-17 [Tawnee.]: I think we need differen't judges who know how to read the flow of a poem that doesn't rhyme and who has the ability to judge more types of poems
2006-02-17 [Teufelsweib]: who says that these judges couldn't do that? just because the 5 best all seemed to rhyme doesn't mean that they inmediatly don't like non-rhyming poems
2006-02-17 [Tawnee.]: they should have picked a variety of differen't types of poems.. i feel that they didn't know how to judge others that didn't rhyme.. because i read some that were alot better then the rhyming ones
2006-02-17 [Teufelsweib]: in your opinion were better. They would have made seperated contests for different types of poems if the winners should be more variated. the people who have judged the poems know a lot about poems, and can be trusted in their decision. if they couldn't judge non-rhyming poems they wouldn't have been appointed for this task. it's a coincedence that all the winning poems rhyme.
2006-02-17 [True, plain and simple]: I agreed with the chosen poems, as I felt that they were the best. They were judged accurately.
2006-02-17 [Teufelsweib]: I found the chosen poems also the best from the sumitted ones. the judging was accurate done.
2006-02-17 [Tawnee.]: w/e
2006-02-17 [Iseld]: poetry is hard to judge, given it is another type of art, and art is subjective. i have written a few free verse poems myself, i think two are on my wiki, but i feel my best poems rhyme. the judges had their work cut out for them, and they chose who they felt had written the best poetry within the theme, whether it be free verse or rhyme. i don't think anyone is denying that free verse is a valid and beautiful type of poetry, but instead, the judges picked the poem, not the form of the poem, that they felt should win.
2006-02-17 [Teufelsweib]: I couldn't say it any better :)
2006-02-17 [Tawnee.]: u guys keep saying the same stuff!... just drop it!
2006-02-17 [Teufelsweib]: because it's the truth, and you don't accept it. so is it that useless to keep repeating it?
2006-02-17 [Tawnee.]: yes it is!.. gosh..........
2006-02-17 [Iseld]: maybe you need to hear it to understand you were wrong. don't be foolish enough to not accept when you are wrong, i've always found it an honorable trait in a person that accepts it when they have been fairly proven incorrect. and this is an open discussion, maybe we're talking to more than just you star.
2006-02-17 [Tawnee.]: well i wasn't proven wrong so why would i say i was? i have my oppinion and u have yours.. so just leave me alone!
2006-02-17 [True, plain and simple]: You were proven wrong as I have a particular disike for most rhyming poems, yet thought those were the best despite that, as I hold no bias. At the end of the day, it comes down to my approval on the finalists, and that is all that matters. Regardless, the most important fact is that the contestants understand that their poems were based solely on quality, and that there was no grammatical discrimination or anything silly like that.
2006-02-17 [Eveningsdawn]: One, will someone link me to where the results were? I'd like to read them. Two... star, dear, drop it. I tend to prefer nonrhyming but they are a right bastard to do correctly, and it's possible that none of the freeverse were good enough. And I say this having submitted a free verse poem. Two, actually.
2006-02-17 [Charybdis]: Go to Mainstreet and scroll down, [Eveningsdawn]; the winners are posted there :)
2006-02-17 [Iseld]: ah, yes, i have my opinion, but poetry beinga subjective art, is no opinion love, it's a fact. another fact: none of the judging was up to you - so here's some advice: respect there decision and move along. btw, [True, plain and simple], how do you guys find judges? i'd love to co-judge a poetry contest sometime
2006-02-18 [True, plain and simple]: Eh, I do the judging. That's about it. This time I had someone else choose the final five out of a set of pre-approved poems from the entries, because I was busy.
2006-02-18 [Eveningsdawn]: Chary, I tried that.... Will try again. *wanders off* I do not envy judges. Their lives must be terribly hard.
2006-02-18 [Tawnee.]: [True, plain and simple], i was not proven wrong! because you guys did not change my mind.. so u have no right to say that u guys have changed my mind. And Eveningsdawn..
2006-02-18 [Charybdis]: Scroll way down, then. Alternatively, go here: <URL:/poems
2006-02-18 [Iseld]: so how's the weather where you guys are? it's REALLY cold here, even had to wear a sweater.
2006-02-18 [Teufelsweib]: rain, rain and a bit more rain :P though they do promise snow for tuesday!
2006-02-18 [Christina Loves Adam]: So who all won?
2006-02-18 [Christina Loves Adam]: And when will they give out the badges. sorry to bug just was wondering
2006-02-19 [I stabbith ye]: Starburst, firstly, I am sure the judges were not biast toward rhyming poems, they just thought they were the best, and you may think others are better, maybe the judges even did, but there are the rules which you have to follow: Good grammer, a fantasy type theme etc and maybe the better poems did not fit these rules as well as the chosen poems...Christina the winners are on mainstreet, or you could click on the link 3 comments above your first one, badges, when the delivery people have time...
2006-02-20 [Tawnee.]: Thanx I stabbith ye for being polite and helping me understand why some of the better poems might not have won.
2006-02-20 [~*Lonely Wanderer*~]: [Christina Loves Adam] I am wonering the same thing as you....when are they going to give them out...???
2006-02-20 [Teufelsweib]: patience, they will come. it's a lot of work handing all those badges out.
2006-02-20 [Eveningsdawn]: Thanks, Chary! Congrats to the winners.
2006-02-21 [Iseld]: LOL
2006-02-21 [Teufelsweib]: having fun? :P
2006-02-21 [mesaana]: YAY! Only just noticed :)
2006-02-21 [Corazie]: Every single one of the winning poems rhymes >.<' Euughh...
2006-02-21 [Teufelsweib]: read the previous comments and you'll get a right explaination..
2006-02-21 [Tawnee.]: Write in a Journal.......
2006-02-21 [True, plain and simple]: To [Corazie] - Pure coincidence. The poems weren't chosen because they had fluent rhyme scheme, rather on overall quality.
2006-02-22 [RiddleRose]: and what's wrong with rhyming? i like it... and all of the poems chosen were great! congrats to all the winners, and good luck next time to all the rest of you! ^.^
2006-02-22 [Christina Loves Adam]: Thanx for telling me I will be sure to check it out and show support for the winners
2006-02-22 [immortal daydreams.]: damn...i really wanted to enter. oh well -_-' theres always next year
2006-02-22 [Teufelsweib]: you can always enter your poems on the daily poem, if you don't want to wait a year
2006-02-22 [immortal daydreams.]: i entered one....its called 'look what you've done' all i can do is wait now lol
2006-02-27 [mesaana]: [Corazie] - not all of them rhymne. Mine didn't - or at least wasn't supposed to. When it did it was because the word fit, not because they rhymed. Read the poems carefully before you complain with sweeping statments
2006-07-25 [Junko987]: I am SO doing this competition! I need something to get me publicized!!!!
2006-07-25 [shotokan_gal]: Well, it won't be open till we're nearing the next valentines day ;) The next seasonal competition will probably be the Halloween one in October.
2007-01-20 [Linderel]: [shotokan_gal]: Haha, the perils of copy+pasting. Thanks for noticing that. xD
2007-01-20 [shotokan_gal]: Hehe ;)
2007-01-21 [Fizban]: LOL!! WOAH!! HELLO...thats quite wierd lol. A zombie valentines poem. loyl...definet
2007-01-21 [Doormat]: Wow, now that i've written a valentine poem, I need to butcher it to include the themes...Which isn't going to happen.
2007-01-21 [shotokan_gal]: Then write another completely different one ;) No ones asking you to 'butcher' already completed work.
2007-01-21 [Teufelsweib]: next time you can better wait til you know the theme before you write a poem for an elftown contest.
2007-01-21 [Amarantha]: Oh! These words are SO FUN! I'm going to use them all! In order! *feels obsessive compulsive*
2007-01-21 [Linderel]: Alphabetical order? :3
2007-01-21 [Amarantha]: Nope! In the order they were posted in. It's more fun that way.
2007-01-21 [Linderel]: Awww. I almost put them in alphabetical order, because I'm obsessive that way, but then couldn't be arsed. :P
2007-01-21 [Amarantha]: I would've written them that way, then... it hadn't occured to me before I started writing. Maybe I'll do another one in alphabetical order.
2007-01-23 [Teufelsweib]: three words must be used, in a valentine themed poem. make it pink just means that you have to make those random words valentine-ish :P
2007-01-23 [Teufelsweib]: I'm very sorry to hear that! :( but 'pink' isn't a word that counts up with the 3 words that are needed for the poem. but if you send it to me, I'll take a look at it for you. :)
2007-01-23 [Teufelsweib]: well, I can't find any errors in your poem!
it's lovely, I'm sure your mother would have been very happy with it :)
2007-01-23 [Teufelsweib]: you're very welcome ^^ *huggles back*
2007-01-27 [black and blue rose 90]: i really hope i win this i need at least one badge to make my mother happy!!!!!
2007-01-27 [Teufelsweib]: you'll get a badge anyway for participating ;)
2007-02-01 [Fizban]: question, I can loop three into my poem for sure,...but how valentines do you mean by valentines. It will be about love in a way, but not the super pink, lovey, dovey, shovey, love...yah know?
This ofcourse going by my latest design for the poem is all.
2007-02-01 [Linderel]: As long as it's about love, it goes, I guess. And if it's not fluffy, then try to put in a reference to the occasion, maybe.
2007-02-01 [Fizban]: hmmms...I will have it on valentines day lol XD,...that will mention it
2007-02-02 [Fizban]: wow, I have like no valentines spirit, I have like tried to write this poem 5 times today, and all of them have failed XD >_<
2007-02-14 [Misty Lady]: Happy Valentines day. Love and hugs to all.
2007-02-14 [Linderel]: See <URL:poems.
Congrats, and thanks for playing!
2008-01-08 [Maeve104]: Hm. Could it have Valentine in the title but not in the actual poem if the poem is still about love and such?
2008-01-08 [Linderel]: Well... we just want something that would fit Valentine's Day, that is all. ;3
2008-01-09 [Doormat]: So basically "themes" are removed? It just needs to be relevant to Valentine's now right?
2008-01-09 [Linderel]: That is correct.
2008-01-11 [Fetish Dolly Koneko™]: Oh..I'm confused after reading [Artsieladie]'s and [Teufelsweib]'s comments. Are there specific words that must be used in the poems?
2008-01-11 [Linderel]: That was for last year; look at the dates of the comments. ;)
2008-01-11 [Fetish Dolly Koneko™]: Ha ha ha!! Wow!! Sorry!!!! Well I feel better then!
2008-01-14 [Cia_mar]: can two people write a poem together and submit it as one entry?
2008-01-14 [Linderel]: I think so, yes. It has been done before.
2008-01-14 [Cia_mar]: cool!
2008-01-16 [Olwen]: where do i send my poem once i have written it?
2008-01-16 [Linderel]: You place it on Valentine Poetry 08, page 1.
2008-02-12 [Heather Thomason]: can i please still send a poem?
2008-02-14 [Linderel]: <URL:poems.
2008-02-15 [Cia_mar]: congrats to the winners!!!!
2008-02-20 [¡Soy Bekah!]: yeah can i send a poem still?
2008-02-20 [Teufelsweib]: well, seeing that this contest already ended... no.
but! better luck next year ;)
2009-01-18 [Rice]: Can we have swear words in the poem?
It is twisted love.
2009-01-18 [Acceber]: Hmm, I think since the winner will be featured on Mainstreet, it's best not to put swear words in it, since it might offend. But thats just what I think =)
2009-01-18 [Rice]: Ok. I'll change it XD
2009-01-31 [Bulma]: My poem is about love it doen't really have anything that describes valentines or the day. Can I still put it up? If I can then which page?
2009-01-31 [Linderel]: Do note that there is a theme.
2009-02-04 [Doormat]: This theme is win :D.
2009-02-05 [FutureGrave]: Yay, I want to enter this one. I like the theme ^-^
2009-02-06 [EnigmaXero]: I have just yet...one question.
In terms of the theme, what exactly does it mean by 'twisted love'? =/ I don't like to be asking questions that may be obvious, or that may seem stupid, but I'm kind of stumped by it.
2009-02-07 [FutureGrave]: I am not good at thinking about what people mean by what they say, sorry. I think you stated it well enough. ^-^ Thank you Artsie!
2009-02-07 [EnigmaXero]: I believe so as well.
I figured that is what it meant, but I wanted to make double sure, so I wouldn't have something that was a bit off or anything. ^-^
Thanks for the info, Artsie!
2009-02-08 [EnigmaXero]: I think that did help out mass. ^^
Now, to think of something swiftly by Wednesday. =O
2009-02-08 [EnigmaXero]: =D!
I haven't written poetry since Oct. 2007. Dx
2009-02-08 [EnigmaXero]: I wish I had that kind of motivation to get up and write things down like that. Because I see all kinds of visions when I'm trying to sleep. It's just that if I sit up or stand up, most of the time it makes me wake up, so I'm just like, uggh. Can't sleep. ^-^
But! I will still try. =O
2009-02-08 [FutureGrave]: I have only wrote one poem my entire life o.o' It was a love poem but it doesn't fit, haha. ^-^ I am going to try still, to do another.
2009-02-10 [Bulma]: I understand that thier is a theme.
how Twisted dose it have to be? Like someone did love you and your all for them but that someone turns thier back on you when you need it the most? Like that?
I'm only asking because I just don't want my peom to be kicked out of here for me being stupid not following the exact rules exactly what it says. I don't want to get in trouble.
Either way thank you though.
2009-02-10 [EnigmaXero]: 2009-02-06 [Artsieladie]: Hmm... well, 'twisted love' would be love that's a bit or a lot odd, screwy, possibly wrong, sick, demented, impossible, not likely, not normal,..um.. anything else? Anyone want to help me out here? :P
Does that help any at all? o.o
2009-02-10 [FutureGrave]: Yea, it isn't working out well. I haven't had much time to even sleep. Maybe I should do what you do [Artsieladie] and write what comes to me before I go to sleep. I tend to draw better than so maybe. That is if I ever get sleep..haha.
2009-02-10 [Bulma]: yes thank you very much. I'll put up my poem and i hope it's to your liking. ;P
2009-02-10 [EnigmaXero]: I have that same problem, Artsie. ^-^; Most of the time I don't even realize it's after 2 or 3 before I fall asleep.
Oh, and you're welcome. =)! Always glad to help out with whatever I can.
2009-02-10 [EnigmaXero]: I like helping with things, and helping other people. Just most of the time I don't know how. =/
And yes. I agree with you. Lack of sleep is no fun. Though I usually seem to be in a better mood when I get 4 hours of sleep compared with 9 or so. It's rather strange. O.o
2009-02-10 [EnigmaXero]: Alright. =D
AS for sleep. Sounds about like me, though usually...it doesn't matter how much I Sleep or how little I sleep. I sometimes feel the same either way. I think that's the part that sucks.. to me, anyway. Other than not falling asleep until 2-3 hours after you go to bed. =_=
2009-02-13 [FutureGrave]: ^-^ Haha, well I haven't slept for the past three days. I am so beyond tired I can't sleep. Something happpened here and I was worried so I haven't had time to do anything else. Well, I hope to be able to do a different poetry contest maybe. I think I am going to go try to get some sleep. haha, maybe.
2009-02-13 [EnigmaXero]: Good luck on finding a way to sleep.
2009-02-13 [FutureGrave]: Thank you ^-^ I think I will. Everything has pretty much calmed down over here. Finally, haha.
2009-02-13 [EnigmaXero]: That's good. ^-^
And you're welcome.
=D
2009-02-14 [FutureGrave]: Haha, yea, well I gave up on the sleeping idea. I am worrying about my fiancee now. I slept last night some but that's it. Maybe 4 or 5 hours. Wow, I don't know why I keep talking about sleep. o.o' Sorry.
2009-02-14 [EnigmaXero]: OH it's alright. XD
That's really all I can think about right now, is wanting to sleep. x_x I haven't been sleeping that well, either, but as far as I know, there's not a good reason for it. :(
But I do hope you to sleep well soon, and that whatever is wrong will pass, and things will be okay.
2009-02-14 [Rice]: I have a question about the winner's of the valentines day competition?
2009-02-14 [Linderel]: They'll be posted soon.
2009-02-14 [Rice]: Oh no they are already posted..thanky
I've messaged my question to Artsie Lady.
2009-02-14 [Linderel]: Well, yes, they are posted in the news item, but the actual poems will be put on the Daily Poem slot. ;3
2009-02-14 [Rice]: I've read all the winners.
And I LOVE your poem XD when I was reading it I though 'This better have won'.
Same with [Chimes]'s secound poem.
2009-02-14 [Linderel]: Heh, thanks.
2009-02-16 [FutureGrave]: Yea, I finally got sleep and I hope you did too. Also congratz to the winners. ^-^
2012-01-30 [kians mummy]: Up to (number) poems will be picked out by Literature Judges from all those presented. Winners and participants will receive the following badges:
The thing marked in bold needs to be changed.
2012-01-30 [Akayume]: I think at this point it's subjective. If we only get five poems then obviously only one will be chosen, but if we get forty we'll probably end up picking two winners, let's say. (:
2012-01-30 [kians mummy]: Ok then hun, no worries. just trying to get everything up to date everywhere I go. :)
2012-01-30 [windowframe]: ''up to" leaves that option open anyway. I doubt we'd fet enough entries to have more than two winners, so it's probably safe to write 'two' there.
2012-01-30 [kians mummy]: Yeah
2013-02-09 [MyAlterEgo]: Is that deadline correct? August 8th?
2013-02-09 [Flisky]: Backwards again. March 8th.
2013-11-14 [The Dizzy Raven]: lol.... almost a year late to announce the winner xDDDD
2013-11-14 [Flisky]: That's just how we roll.
2013-11-15 [The Dizzy Raven]: lol <3
2013-11-15 [Paul Doyle]: With that in mind, can we open Halloween 2014 contests almost a year ahead of time? (Just to provide a sense of balance. Or something. :3)
2013-11-15 [Teufelsweib]: to provide balance we should open Halloween 2014 contests in 2015, stay with the flow.
2013-11-15 [Paul Doyle]: Silly me. So maybe we ought to start the 2013 Halloween costume contest right about now---just to be better attuned to The Flow?
2013-11-15 [The Dizzy Raven]: lol
2013-11-16 [Lakayana]: But why the delay?
2013-11-19 [Paul Doyle]: The delay might have been caused by lots of sleep-inducing poppy fields that have been overgrowing Elftown these past few years?
2013-11-30 [Lakayana]: ouch!
2015-03-02 [Mortified Penguin]: :u
