1. phoenix burning bright

Waiting for sleep to come
in grandmothers strong arms
I listen to the sound
of night animals run.

Welcome the forest whispers to me
here you are and here you will stay
to feed our roots for many days

Now i see my body in the willow tree.
As i fly away I have nothing to say.

Fire rains from the sky
on to the place i once
called home.

Falling down into the inferno
I burn.

And now from the ashes i rise
nto the night skies.
And as the tears fall
from my eyes.

I whisper one last
sweet sorrowful
Goodbye.

A phoenix burning bright
disappearing into
a blood red
morning sky.

2. A Beautiful Creature

Phoenix soaring in the sky
Like a flame oh so high
Living, breathing, always seeing
Never ceasing to stop being

Reborn from ashes
Taken from dust
A baby phoenix reborn
Now that is a must

Phoenix tears that always heal
The darkest wounds that you can feel
The phoenix is here
In the time we hold dear

Now you will see
How the Phoenix will be
These treasurable creatures
With all of their features

Written by [Koho Ai]

3. The Phoenix

Born of ashes
Death by flame
A wicked blaze
A pure soul.

Flying freely
Bound to the land
A grieving child
A wise old man

The brightest light
The darkest shadow
Death may come
But the phoenix lives on

Written by [darkraven2010]

4. The mythical creature called Phoenix

Like a burning flame
The movements of a phoenix

Her wings
Hot as a sun

An elegant look
Upon her face

Flying around
Beating drums
Following the claps of her wings

Clouds move away
As an arrow of fire passes by

Floating
Drifting on leaps of air

Like a burning flame
The movements of a phoenix

Written by [Decla]

5. Reborn

Life never ending
burning bright as an ember
upon the wings of the firey bird

You who watches over all things living
proving life repeats again
from atop your high mountain beak

Burst into flame oh phoenix
such beauty in death as much as life
only to be reborn from the ashes of the life previous
to watch us and to be reborn again

Written by [blood_fairy21]

6. The Awakening

A drop of liquid fire
To ignite the flame
In my heart.

A demon bird
Who lies deep
Within my soul.

Sun colored feather
Which bleeds red, orange,
And yellow.

Eyes flickering like embers,

And a passionate, healing soul.

My skin melts to the floor
My bones turn to ash
And the bird rises from the pile.

It flies,
Alighting the sky with
An ever burning flame.

A demon bird
Who lives within my soul
That will go on living forever.

And a drop of liquid flame,
To incinerate it all.

Written by [Alexi Ice]

7. Of Myth

Regale us with tales
in the light of blazing hearth
of a beast, a bird so majestic
there shall be no other akin

Had we in our battle-wearied hearts
if but a spark of that fire
that brightly burns in those apart
feeding the fall of the phoenix

In mortal, bound bodies
nary a shadow of deadly grace
which lives in souls of the wildest
as they roam their tangled roads

Come, come, this path shall take
beyond deepest valley reaches
where the phoenix doth fly
its eternal cycle--

death, resurrection, only to perish
in incandescent glory
yet clad in finest feathers
rise once more to the winds

This sight a kind of beauty
one could give life to glimpse
have to hold in his hand
yet no man shall ever come to possess

Written by [Linderel]

8. Flight of the Phoenix

Fire fire burning bright
brighter than the sun
shield me from this pain
engulf my soul in flame
release me from my shame

Take me on your wings
take me far across the lands
away from all my foes
with the speed of a thousand birds
I shall no longer look upon
the lands of old

With great speed
that shook the trees
he spreed a sea of fire
that laid waste to the land
destroying everything and everyone

Fire fire burning bright
brighter than the candle light
shield me from this plight
engulf my heart in flame
release me from your pain

Written by [Draodith]

9. Death of One

Her wings faulter,
But her will is steel.
Every breath is labored,
With the fire she cannot feel.
The air around her shimmers
With flame and heat,
Still she battles
A foe she cannot beat.
Everything is hazy,
She lands with little grace,
The cliff halts her progress,
With its rocky face.
Her keening cry is heard
By villages miles away.
An eerily beautiful sound,
That seems to mourn the day.
She knows this life is over,
Knows her fiery death awaits.
But still she struggles onward,
Trying to thwart her fate.
She makes it to her home,
A cave in the bluff.
Her feeble efforts fail her,
Her will is not enough.
The flame starts below her,
Her body disappears in the red tongues.
She coughs up smoke and ash,
Trying in vain to clear her lungs.
Her soul starts to leave her,
Her heart is pulled in two.
The soul's temperary vessal,
Creating itself anew.
Her entire being vanishes,
Into ash and dust,
She has given her life,
As all eventually must.
But from her death,
Another life has begun.
A faint cry echoes around
The home of the last one.
This new life has a future,
Because the old life had a past,
A phoenix reborn to a new time,
Living to live for as long as it lasts.

Written by [Flisky]

10. The Rise of the Phoenix

The Phoenix is a champion,
A golden guilted bird,
Her heart is filled with courage,
A lesson to be heard!

Her life is all enduring,
She shines with enchanted soul,
For she is ever faithful,
Survival is her goal.

And we can take a lesson,
The hardest one to learn!
The Phoenix gives her own life,
And lets the ashes burn.

And with majestic glory,
From the ashes she has wrought,
The phoenix rose in triumph,
From the battles she has fought!

From the ashes of our memories,
And love that could not last,
Like the Phoenix, we must live again,
And let what's done be past!

Each day shall bring a blessing,
In some task that we have done,
Each night shall bring its own rewards,
From the battles we have won!

Life must go ever forward,
With all life's joy and pain
With courage we go onward,
Through sunshine, or through rain.

Lessons from our own lives,
Are the hardest ones to learn!
But we can rise above ourselves,
And let the bridges burn.

For time is life's great healer.
No teacher could have taught.
To live and learn and make mistakes,
and learn to judge them not.

Each act we take, each thought or deed,
Is mirrored in or souls!
And, if we fall, and if we're wise,
We learn to make new goals.

From the love of joy and innocence,
And wisdom born of pain,
The Phoenix Bird shall know herself,
And rise to live again!

2008-07-26 [Artsieladie]: Eh, no worries. I implemented the Daily Poem format here (minus the number, of course), so more people might get the format correct, when they submit a poem to the DP. ;)

2008-08-18 [Grandamelf]: I already wrote one that is here on elftown can I post it?

2008-08-18 [windowframe]: Yup. :) Old art/poems are welcome in this contest.

2008-08-19 [Grandamelf]: Thank you [windowframe];)

2008-08-19 [Aradon Templar]: Hey, just wondering, since I suppose people who submitted poetry to this page, what variations of the Phoenix exist? I know of the common fiery phoenix that represents rebirth via destruction, and I am vaguely familiar with an Asian variation of the phoenix as a royal bird, but my knowledge falls short about there. Does anyone happen to know what the origins or significance the Asian variation has, and any other types? o.O

2008-08-19 [bluefarie]: Grandamelf i love your poem. :)

2008-08-19 [bluefarie]: i'm wondering why [Artsieladie]'s comment has disappeared several times. No one else's, just hers. Is there a problem with comments disappearing again? <img:stuff/m-jpg.gif>

2008-08-19 [windowframe]: Moderators agreed to moderate one section each, and also to try and and stop answering questions that another moderator had already answered (no one likes having their toes trodden on, after all).

2008-08-19 [bluefarie]: The comment that has been disappearing is: "Yes, dear, Sis, you may as long as it fits the theme, being Phoenix. *hugs* Great one! :) There are some really nice poems here. :)" Are the comments being censored now so people can't give a response to another member? just wondering.

2008-08-19 [windowframe]: Er... see above comment? :/

2008-08-19 [bluefarie]: Er... so you have been deleting the comments and it is not a bug or a disc problem. good to know what's responsible or whom. :/

2008-08-19 [windowframe]: Yes, I assumed that Artsie had just simply forgotten what we'd agreed. <img:stuff/sm-gif.gif> I know if I'd done the same on her page I'd be mortified when I realised, and would have deleted my comment myself, if she hadn't already, I wouldn't want it to look like I was just ignoring my fellow mod or being rude. <img:stuff/mood4-gif.gif>

2008-08-19 [bluefarie]: i doubt Artsie would delete one of your comments. she doesn't believe in censorship or not allowing one to comment to another or giving a compliment to others. Deciding on who can comment where is a bit overstepping to me. i'm dropping this here, though.

2008-08-19 [windowframe]: Well that would be her choice, we all handle things slightly differently. But I've just explained things and as you can see it has nothing to do with not allowing someone to give a compliment, so I don't know why you'd think that. :/

Deciding on who can comment where is a bit overstepping to me

I assume you don't like any official pages, then? :P

2008-08-20 [bluefarie]: that's not what I had said at all! you really shouldn't twist someone's words. But, wtf ever...you interpret things very differently I guess than normal people...I'm done arguing with you. I've got better things to do with my time.

2008-08-20 [windowframe]: Er. Right. I'm sorry for interpreting you wrong, but it's not nice to accuse someone of twisting your words just because they accidentally misunderstood you, y'know. :/

2008-08-20 [Aradon Templar]: I've discussed many an issue with Silvie, and I can assure you that she's 'twisted' my fair share of statements as well. I've also found, though, that what I thought to be twisting was really either a misunderstanding that was later revealed or was a flaw in my own statement. Obviously I'm not here to tell you that you said something wrong and such, but rather I'd like to assure you that in my dealings with her, Silvie hasn't tried to intentionally use my words against me in ways I didn't mean for them. I don't think there's any cause for offense anywhere. All Silvie's said is that the reason for deleting was because the answer was redundant, which was agreed upon elsewhere that they would avoid that.

2008-08-20 [bluefarie]: Alright, I agree that the comment that she wrote was redundant in part but, also she was responding to 1 of her friends and the wiki is open to anyone to comment back..
...and that's one of things I've always liked about Elftown that everyone always answers to everyone's comments and questions whether the answers are redundant or not. But, also with redundancy of the answers, the person who has asked the question knows for sure that answer has been verified..
But, ya know that's only my opinion...and when I was on Elftown a lot in the past their was never this type of problem. Anywho, I'm signing off. I have to work tomorrow.
Ciao!

2008-08-20 [Aradon Templar]: Have a good evening!

2008-08-20 [Flisky]: *And now for an actually comment for the page* Everyone's poems are really good. I can easily see that whoever wins at this point will have deserved it.

2008-08-20 [blood_fairy21]: i agree with you [Flisky]. everyone has done a wonderful job!
