2007-07-27 [Zab]: You open an art program (MS Paint or the free Gimp works fine if you don't have any other) make an image (300x200 pixels can be a good size for a banner). Make a background or take a photo (must be yours, random images found on the net are not allowed in houses, and you want people to use the banner right? :P) and write the wikis name on the image.
Upload it to Elftown and you have a wiki banner. :)

According to the law you imply it's about nothing being handed out (for example, marketing reasons) to thirds, if you ask them not to.
The Data Protection Act gives individuals the right to know what information is held about them. It provides a framework to ensure that personal information is handled properly. 1. you don't put those matters on ET 2. they're not being handed out to thirds. what on earth could they sew Elftown with?

2008-01-05 [Duke Devlin]: It is simply because it is unbelievably annoying, probably, for poor [Hedda] to have to go through countless people deciding that they no longer want to be on here, and deleting their profiles for them. You really shouldn't insult the website in that way =( Elftown may not be for you, but the way it is built has nothing to do with that. This is the way it is, and it is unlikely to change. Just remove everything from your house, change your username to something like 'User Deleted' so that someone else could use your name if they so choose, and just log out. If you want to go the full way, delete all of your notes, friends, messages and bookmarks too. It's very simple. The server space is not an issue, if it were, it would be possible to delete your house :) Though that is a nice concern. Seriously, just log out and don't log in again - one more empty profile isn't going to kill us :)

2008-01-05 [Lin-tastic]: I do believe at the bottom of your own house, you can see a link that reads "Click here to delete yourself from Elftown" with a picture of a guy's decapitated head and a sword...not to sound graphic in any way. I've never clicked it so I can't walk you through it, but when it's done, you won't be able to log in as yourself and [Hedda] can see you've no desire to be here, and may get around to deleting your house...unless, in fact, you do go through with completely removing your mark on that page.

Pages that say 'This house is deleted' are annoying, a lot of people change their minds after a certain period of time (a lot of people try to create a new account because they forgot their old username/password), deleting old houses has very little benefits compared to the amount of work that goes into it and the little amount of space they take up anyway...etc.
Changing your username is advised against on the deletion page. If someone happens to want that name, they'll have to be a bit more original and just think of another one.

If that's the case, then you can check on Your Notes page. Along the top where it says Mainstreet, Your House etc, click on the Your Notes button, and all of the wikis you have ever made will be listed there. Have a look and see if the wiki you made for your pictures is there. :)

2010-01-26 [windowframe]: There are three different tags you can use, <wikipoll> <multivoting> and <voting> (the tags don't work in comments, but insert one of them into a wiki and submit the changes and you should see a poll on the page where you can then fill in the poll question and possible answers)..

The wikipoll is a standard poll, the multivoting poll allows people to vote for several different answers and the 'voting' poll allows only one vote per person, but shows who voted for what. :)
