2008-01-05 [Kyrinn]: Looks pretty updated to me.. Unless they want it to look like myspace, which is covered in ads. >.>

2008-01-05 [Veltzeh]: My sight could use updating! I want to see infrared!

2008-01-05 [Levoton]: A system restoration will suffice for me.

2008-01-09 [de Morte]: ECM Vampire Photo's are still not finished...FYI

2008-01-09 [Sunrose]: Yes, thanks :)

2008-01-10 [de Morte]: You are welcome! ^^

2008-01-10 [Mordigen]: wow, someone's gettin anxious ;)

2008-01-28 [Kyrinn]: So [Rook] isnt an image boss anymore? O.o

2008-01-28 [Mordigen]: i like the re-vamp. Much more easy to read and understand. Good Work Sunrose.

2008-01-28 [Sunrose]: @[Kyrinn]: She wasn't removed from the Featured Art staff, please see the forum postings :/

@[Mordigen]: Thanks! :D
Credit to [iippo] as well, for advising me *^^*

2008-01-28 [Kyrinn]: AH, I havent been there yet today.. :S Thanks, sunny!

2008-04-02 [Mordigen]: ok, wait a minute here.....soooo, come next week Elftown is going to be a devided community, pretty much, devided between the productive, and the useless elftowners? Is that what I am hearing? *snorts*

2008-04-02 [iippo]: Isn't it already? :P *is in the useless half*

2008-04-02 [sequeena_rae]: *is also in the useless half*

2008-04-02 [Mordigen]: lol :P yea, but i mean, really this time.....i mean...i dont get the "protected" part unless it is literally going to be devided now XD

2008-04-02 [Jitter]: *is on the useless part as well*<img:44166_1164557415.gif>

2008-04-02 [Teufelsweib]: *is on the useless part because all the cool people are there aswell*

2008-04-02 [Kyrinn]: O.O you lost me. Wha??

2008-04-02 [Calico Tiger]: The news on Main Street *poke pokes kyrinn*

All I'll say is, make sure to check the date on the bottom of the news item ;) Although that should be gone now, really.

2008-04-02 [Kyrinn]: Ahhh.. That explains the alarm message. O.O Man I am so out of it today..

2008-04-02 [Mordigen]: wait....what? Cali, who ya talkin to regarding the check the date? I'm confused again *sobs in the corner*  I checked the date, is says yesterday, but i didnt log in yesterday so i just now got it.....I try dammit! *continues sobbing*

2008-04-02 [Linderel]: *giggle* Think hard about the date. :P

2008-04-02 [Mordigen]: omfg

holy fucking shit

......ok, escuse me.........i must go shoot myself from stupidity, while sobbing at myself on the way there

2008-04-03 [Cia_mar]: ok, who or what decided to change mainstreet's colors????
sorry but it just doesnt look like elftown anymore....
and it hurts my eyes!!!!
*sniffs*
sorry to complain... but can it please go back to the lovely green it was???
*big puppy dog eyes pleading*

2008-04-03 [Kyrinn]: It might be for the April 1st thing though. Id imagine it will most likely go back to the way it was. ^^

2008-04-03 [Janouk]: You guys are spoiling the fun :(

2008-04-03 [Mordigen]: Cia--- they change mainstreet all the time on the holidays, it's called being festive, you don't have to be so nasty to them. And ya know, you can always customize ET to how you want to see it and like it by using the style sheet options under your personal info page.

2008-04-03 [Mordigen]: oh and BTW, i wasn't trying to be a party pooper on my previous comment above about the sobbing XP

2008-04-03 [Veltzeh]: The mainstreet style changes even if you use your own stylesheet.
Also, the lysator link in <news:Elftown moving> gets changed to the .com address, so it looks funny.

2008-04-03 [Sunrose]: Calm down, I don't think Cia was being nasty :P
Just unaware of what's going on, there's no need to let that become ugly ;)

2008-04-03 [iippo]: Do you know how to fix it, Vel?

2008-04-03 [Veltzeh]: Sure, but I don't know if people would like the way I'd fix it.

2008-04-03 [iippo]: Only way to find out is try it... It's more important that it makes sense. Now it's just confusing.

2008-04-03 [Mordigen]: Well ok, let me better my phrasing -- no need to freak, then :P I didnt think she was being like, vicious nasty, i guess i just chose bad phrasing, but I wasn't upset either, just informative :)

and o, i didnt know the mainstreet changes (as i never mess with the stylesheets, i just go with the flow of ET changes :P lol) so nevermind then, LOL

annnnddd.........i'm confused again :( Nothing looks funny or confusing on my end?
maybe i should just go crawl in a hole somewhere, the council page has gotten me confused too many times in the past 2 days XD

2008-04-03 [Veltzeh]: Hmm well, if the alarm-message will be the same, it might be a bit different...

2008-04-03 [iippo]: I think Sunrose (or someone?) added a space to it to make it stop auto-fixing it :P ("Aargh, three times it!")

2008-04-03 [Sunrose]: I put a space in it, since the uQt didn't seem to fix it..

2008-04-03 [Cia_mar]: no i did not mean to come across as being nasty either... sorry if i did...*looks contrite*
though i would have to say that of all the style sheets, that one is the one i like least... it really does hurt my eyes...lol
too busy seeming or something with all that light coloring...

but anyhow..
yea i know that ms changes with the seasons.,.. though i guess i never thought that april fools would count for a reason to change...lol
as for the style sheets... i did play with them... but i still like the normal et green one best.... however, is there some way to get that cool scroll bar on the description box as well like in some of the other style sheets! .... i thought that was way cool!!!!

2008-04-03 [Calico Tiger]: Well, with the style sheet changing on April Fool's, it made people think the guards took over and changed more than just unbanning people from lack of work to do :D

The base style sheet is supposed to have the scrolling on the description boxes as well, but it's bugged and not working. Has been like that for a couple years now. Harass [True, plain and simple] to fix it XD I pointed it out to him once, but he's been so busy he's just not done it yet, hehe.

2008-04-03 [Cia_mar]: ah... no wonder i thought it was something new...i have only been here since 06 i think...lol or was it 05...anyway....
thanks....

2008-04-11 [de Morte]: The annual calender at the bottom of the mainpage is off by two days.

2008-05-04 [1a2]: I have a question... for anyone that has any kind of power over elftown houses.... Is it possible to get a headline specific to my house? Becuse I have a worthy cause. Any one who may have the power to help with this please message me so I can give you my testimony. Thanks. :DD

2008-05-05 [Calico Tiger]: You can advertise worthy causes in your presentation. We do not use the SS messages for random things :)

2008-05-17 [Mordigen]: Curious if I can get some help with something --- If you read my latest diary entry you'll see that several days ago I made the note that I will be away for a few days because we forgot to pay our bill and I would be without internet -- ok, fine n dandy. I get internet back today and get a system notice in my email from ET that someone requested my password. This makes me a bit paranoid -- as I stated, and even have it documented in my diary, I was without internet for the past 3 1/2 days, so it was not me who requested this password. I have been having some issues with wiki links, and had reported it in the bug forum - just curious if someone on the Council might have an idea of what happened - IE, not sure if Hedda or another techie might have signed into my account trying to see if they can fix the wiki problem etc and might have accidentally triggered the password notification or whatnot. Seems like a long stretch, but just hoping I could get some info on wether or not that was the case because this makes me very worried -- I get nervous to think that someone could potentially be trying to get into my page and either mess things up that I've been working on, or get a hold of my personal info out of my private data forms. :S  Any info on this would make me feel muuuuch better, please and thankie.

2008-05-17 [Yncke]: Well, for more information, you'll have to wait for some of the magicians to come along, but just a thought in the mean time: You can also request the password from the front page, so you don't have to get in anything to trigger the password email. Perhaps someone with a similar nick name to yours mistyped?

2008-05-17 [Mordigen]: Oh I know you don't have to actually get in -- I was just worried that someone might have tried. that makes me paranoid -- but I hope you're right :)

2008-05-18 [Mordigen]: I just want to make the note to the above comments that I have just recieved yet another password notice....
I'm going to change my password to be safe, even though obviously nothing has happened.... but I'm not quite sure what to do about the situation from there, or even if it just happens to be a fluke or coincidence

2008-06-03 [Lady of Lore]: Lol, I didn't realize my name was up here! I gotta get cracking again ^_^.

2008-06-03 [Kyrinn]: *cracks the whip* get to work you!! XD

2008-06-04 [Hedda]: I removed the guards from here, because not only was the information duplicated, but also not agreeing with what's on guards. Better to have the information in one place.

2008-06-04 [Calico Tiger]: Problem is now that people like me don't appear to be on the council.... I mean, I know I am, but I'm shmart and know better *nod nods*

2008-06-04 [Calico Tiger]: Also, many of those listings up there are already duplicated elsewhere on their pages just like guards are

2008-06-04 [Calico Tiger]: So that some people don't do a dance thinking I got fired, I put myself under the builders section

2008-06-04 [Hedda]: Hm, you should of course be listed somewhere, but not as the first contact of the guard, as you aren't. [True, plain and simple] isn't listed at all.

2008-06-04 [Hedda]: I added more information about me, [True, plain and simple] and [Calico Tiger] now, but maybe some mentioning about that people are guards, should be done too.

2008-06-04 [Nita]: I think it's a bit inconvenient to maintain in the current form. Could we perhaps just list the members here and link to Guards and Bosses pages for those who are looking for specific contacts?

2008-06-04 [Calico Tiger]: I think the only reason I was listed as first contact was because as people removed themselves from the council page, my name just went up further as older members went away. Not as an indication of first contact, hehe

2008-06-05 [Hedda]: [Nita]: Well, people should go to the specific page for that information, but it's nice to at least have some approximate description here about what they are doing in the council, even if it just says "hangaround".

2008-06-05 [Nita]: Many of us do more than one thing, so how do we decide who goes in what section? :P

2008-06-07 [Nita]: I'm still not happy with the duplication of information (because it's so tedious to maintain), so either everyone - including the currently generic Builders - is happy to keep their own line on this page up-to-date and useful, or I suggest they have to go :P

... Er. The titles next to names, not the people X)

2008-07-08 [Mordigen]: may I please solicit and harass someone to Badge [silent_voice] and [Imperator] with a Heralders badge? *pokes, jabs*

2008-07-08 [Jitter]: if it's not done until after my movie is finished I will do it :)

2008-07-08 [Mordigen]: *snorts* OK, thankya :)

2008-07-09 [sequeena_rae]: Done :)

2008-07-09 [Jitter]: I fell asleep early yesterday sorry :s

2008-07-09 [Mordigen]: lol -- thankya Squee and *pats jitters head* its ok hun, thanks for the thought *snorts*

2008-07-09 [Mordigen]: OK - *pokes* I need to harrass somebody again. [Jeed] needs a Heralders badge too, pwetty please.

2008-07-09 [Jitter]: Done!

2008-07-09 [Mordigen]: Thankyou ^_^

2008-07-09 [Jitter]: You're welcome!

2008-07-13 [Imperator]: Question: What kind of extra work are you guys doing that used to be handled by the Vicemayor?

2008-07-13 [Calico Tiger]: Deliveries of nachos and beer to [Hedda]

2008-07-13 [Imperator]: What a menial task! I hope you're making the lowly trainees do that stuff...

2008-07-13 [Kyrinn]: Naw I think whoever delivers it gets to partake of it too. >:D

2008-07-14 [Lady of Lore]: But they have to be dressed in official ET delivery attire. :P

2008-07-14 [Imperator]: And what would that attire be?

2008-07-14 [Teufelsweib]: hehe...hehehehehe....hehe :P

2008-07-14 [Imperator]: BIRTHDAY SUIT?! No wonder you like that job [Teufelsweib]. Ooooo! BURN!

2008-07-15 [Lady of Lore]: Hahahhaahaha..I dunno but I thought people's interpretations would be funny, or at least entertaining. I was thinking the delivery attire would change from time to time depending on Hedda's mood. Like a wood elf, dwarf, goblin, nymph, etc. Which of course would be very entertaining, especially to see dwarf where the Vicemayor walks in with shoes on their knees.

2008-07-15 [Calico Tiger]: And with one of those fake beard thingies that you hang from your ears in front of your face x)

2008-07-15 [Imperator]: To bad Elftown only exists on the internet and we can't actually slave away to [Hedda]...

2008-07-15 [back by nonpopular demand]: het guys how do i add a new page to my decripion?

2008-07-15 [Lady of Lore]: Lol, I dunno how much work we would get done then.

Hey I had a random question. what happened to being able to upload an image to a page? I used to have it and it was great for updating my art lesson wiki but now I can't seem to find it. Any ideas?

2008-07-15 [Kyrinn]: [back by nonpopular demand] Im not sure what you mean by add another page to your description. The only way to do that would be to set up a wiki page and attach it to your description for people to click if they want more information.

[Lady of Lore] the upload part of the page is now with all the page information at the top right on fthe page. The buttons highlight blue when your mouse runs over them.

2008-07-15 [Imperator]: @[back by nonpopular demand]: Click on "change personal data" at the top of your house and then scroll down to your "Description" box and you can type in the name of the wiki page like this: [Elftown Archives@wiki] which becomes this: Elftown Archives. :-)

2008-07-15 [Lady of Lore]: Ah, I see, thanks Kyrinn.

2008-07-16 [Sideways]: Anyone else think the new updates suck? They didn't didn't change hardly anything, proceeded to crash the site at least twice, made the site look uglier, and a lot of people, including me, lost diary entries, messages, and other things. Removing the last visitors markers, taking up half a page with just the list of links, making all the typing bars even smaller than they were before..Elftown, what in sam HELL where you thinking?

2008-07-16 [Yncke]: Remarks on the changes are welcome on Updates 2008-07-04. :)
The loss of messages and stuff is not related to the changes.

2008-07-16 [Mordigen]: ok, excuse me, sorry, but I have some more harrasment to request ^_^

[Hendercrazy] & [Chimes] need a Heralders badge.

and....
[Kaeirdwyn] [irulan] & [Faery] all need their Heralders badges removed as they have been retired.
and then, of course, all the Veteran Heralders will need their badge appointed to them when one finally gets made :(

2008-07-16 [True, plain and simple]: Done and done (and eh..).

2008-07-16 [Mordigen]: thankyou, and thankyou ...and, eh? o.O

also, I have another question to whomever has the answer for it --- I'm trying to get a lot of the Herald pages organized, and set the Staff pages to be viewable only by forum members --- a couple of the pages are owned by retired Heralders that haven't been seen for ages -- is there someone I can ask, or petition, to get the ownership signed over to me, so that I can properly set them for current Staff members only?

2008-07-16 [windowframe]: The Wiki-bosses. :P I can do that for you, if you send me a list of pages.

2008-07-16 [Mordigen]: Gotcha, alrighty ;) I'll get a list for you. Many thanks :D

2008-07-16 [Lady of Lore]: Yay! I graduated to full fledged builder! (does the happy dance)

2008-07-17 [All_Most PUNK]: Mordigen, those kind of things you can ask directly to me and not clutter the wikis with comments.

2008-07-17 [NOOOPE]: Should I note that I'm a featured member boss?

2008-07-17 [windowframe]: Yup. :3

2008-07-21 [Lady of Lore]: *raises hand* I'm a featured member boss too!

2008-07-21 [Lady of Lore]: Has the crew portraits wikis been updated with the new members? I can do that if anyone would like.

2008-07-21 [windowframe]: Then move yourself! ;)

2008-07-22 [Asrun]: :B Hey guuuuys.

Sorry, I've been away for awhile due to school, work and being in my friend's wedding

2008-08-11 [Imperator]: This is one reason the council rather drives me crazy. You delete all the comments from our lovely conversations and for what? There weren't any important notices pushed off or anything...

2008-08-11 [Nita]: Yeah, you're not the one who's going to look like a hypocrite the next time we have to shoo someone off the page for chatting. One rule to rule them all. Either think before you comment, or put up with your oh-so-valuable insights not being publicly displayed for all eternity :P

2008-08-11 [Imperator]: Hey! I learned what it means to be a "tool"! That certainly should be displayed for all eternity! And I always think before I comment so what are you saying about my intelligence? XP But why will I look like a hypocrite?

2008-08-11 [Mortified Penguin]: You could have at least let me read the newer comments before deleting them... thanks a lot!

2008-08-11 [Imperator]: I agree on that one too. Leave it for like a day next time and say "this conversation will be terminated in 24 hours". Then you guys keep your rules, satisfy the annoyances *ahem*, and sound cool all at the same time!

2008-08-11 [Nita]: So, you've learned that starting a casual chat on this page can be disappointing. Very good! Gold star for me :)

2008-08-11 [Mortified Penguin]: Don't make me revoke your gold star privileges...

2008-08-11 [Imperator]: Usually, they're officially minded to start with but become off-topic...

Officially minded comment: If I find people that I think would be good for a certain job, can I recommend them to someone, somewhere?

2008-08-11 [Nita]: Sure! Right here is OK, but you can message one of us privately if you prefer. Note: we need people to be not only capable, but also willing and available (i.e., not too swamped with other things).

2008-08-11 [Imperator]: Alrighty. I'll do that sometime!

2008-08-16 [Imperator]: I've decided I'm tired of serving the council so I would like to retire from being on the Guides. Thank you very much for the wonderful opportunity.

2008-08-16 [Mortified Penguin]: Don't do it! ...instead of retiring... transfer your privileges to me!

2008-08-16 [windowframe]: Done.

2008-08-16 [Imperator]: Thanks.

2008-09-10 [Mordigen]: I have a question: I just recieved an Elftown Update telling me that I'm going to be removed from the list because my email doesn't seem to be working, and I haven't logged in in a while..........even though I log in everysingle day during the week, and sometimes even on the weekend if I happen to get off work early enough to not be too exhausted when I get home --- so that is nearly *every* day a week. Why am I being told I haven't logged in in a while?

2008-09-10 [Mortified Penguin]: I'm not sure, but I think you were removed from the email list, because you didn't follow the links that were sent to you in your email. Read Updates 2008-07-04 for more information. I think the part regarding what happened to you is the second to last update on there...

2008-09-13 [Hedda]: [Mordigen]: If you read that email again:

Warning! It seems like this email address isn't working. Elftown will stop emailing you if you don't log in by following the links in this email.

I should make it more clear that you have to follow the links in the email, and not just log in, I guess. I added:

"NOTE: Logging into Elftown isn't enough! You have to do it by following these links."

2008-09-23 [Jitter]: the <news:number> doesn't work by the way

2008-09-23 [Jitter]: Yeah the <URL:news.html?nrs=> works. It's the <news:> one that doesn't :P

2008-09-23 [Hedda]: Hm... I think I took away "nrs="+nr by mistake.

It's fixed in the upcoming version, so <news:Halloween Contests Are Open!> will start to work soon.

2008-09-23 [Jitter]: Thanks :)

2008-09-25 [Thunder Cid]: I was wondering if next month I can have my wiki cids rants about things that suck somewhere on the front page. I just need a little advertising space that's all.

2008-09-25 [Jitter]: Since it is a rant wiki I doubt it will be suitable for MS. You can try at featured wiki though, or advertise it more on your own house, in your mood, or in the proper forums <forum:The Elftown wiki> <forum:Advertising in Elftown>

2008-09-25 [Imperator]: What? Your handing out space on mainstreet? Sign me up!

2008-09-25 [Mortified Penguin]: Bob's Diner should be on MS... *eats ramen*...

2008-09-26 [Teufelsweib]: only contests go on the MS, right?

2008-09-26 [Jitter]: Yep on the calendar. Other way is through feature wiki ;P

2008-09-30 [Imperator]: So who wants to explain in-depth the intricacies of the council-assembly relationship? :D

2008-09-30 [Jitter]: There's nothing intricate. We just meet up and have orgies. :D

2008-09-30 [Imperator]: Ewwwww! Inappropriate! I'm going to complain to the guards about this!

But before I do, surely there's much more to it?

2008-09-30 [NOOOPE]: Meh. Not really.

(Hint hint, read the assembly page).

2008-09-30 [Imperator]: *has already read everything anywhere describing it but still does not fully comprehend*

2008-09-30 [NOOOPE]: read the comments?

2008-10-01 [Imperator]: What comments?

2008-10-01 [NOOOPE]: On the assembly page. It seems like someone is asking similar questions over there.

2008-10-01 [Imperator]: ... That would be me.

2008-10-01 [NOOOPE]: Oops, only read through cid's

2008-10-01 [Thunder Cid]: Did I miss something?

2008-10-01 [NOOOPE]: no

2008-10-01 [Imperator]: Really?

2008-10-01 [NOOOPE]: Unless elftown's bugging out, you can just read the old comments

2008-10-01 [Thunder Cid]: Oh okay I just wasn't sure :P

2008-10-01 [Calico Tiger]: Please do not use this page for random chatter *deleting comments*

2008-10-01 [Imperator]: But [NOOOPE] didn't actually explain it... I was asking for her to continue. :P

2008-10-01 [NOOOPE]: I've already said what I needed to say. Feel free to delete.

2008-10-02 [Imperator]: *[Imperator] the Hun returns with another annoying question*
Can we get the whole Elftown - Contribution and Contribute pages sorted out? [windowframe]? My Faff Contribute is still there, waiting... :D

2008-10-02 [windowframe]: Yes, we know. We didn't need reminded. (And before you reply, please bear in mind that pointless comments WILL be deleted).

2008-10-08 [Mordigen]: The Town Herald - Issue 18 has been published!

2008-10-21 [Cia_mar]: i hate to ask, but when will the winners and badging be announced/done for the magic comp?

2008-10-21 [Nita]: "Newbies" - soon (you can bask in your glory here in the mean time: <poll:76681> ;)

"Veterans" - after we're done with ECM Phoenix and the public poll :)

2008-10-22 [Cia_mar]: i have a nother question... I entered some of the other newbie contests... do i now need to pull my entry and post into the vets?

2008-10-22 [windowframe]: I'm not sure I understand what you mean? :/ The veterans contests are over, now...

2008-10-22 [Cia_mar]: are no more of the upcoming ECM contests segregated between newbie and vet?

2008-10-22 [windowframe]: Nope. :) No ECM contest ever will be, since the ECM has a different aim to most contests. There may be another newbie/vet contest at some point in the future, though.

2008-10-22 [Cia_mar]: ok thanks

2008-10-22 [Imperator]: Do you have to win a newbie contest to become a "vet" or does just entering "newbie" qualify you for "vet"?

2008-10-22 [windowframe]: Winning any official contest qualifies you as veteran, simply entering them does not.

2008-10-23 [Jitter]: How about those who have the coloured badge but by entering just so many contests?

2008-10-23 [windowframe]: ...They're not veterans? :S

2008-10-23 [Mordigen]: i think there needs to be some more indepth clarification between newbie/vet. i haven't gotten involved with any of the newbiw/vet contests -- but this conversation, along with my original impressions confuses the subject greatly. Im not new to Elftown or Contests, official or unofficial, therefor it would never occur to me to enter the "newbie" contest vs. the "vet" contest just because I have never won one. and I don't think that alone should set apart newbies / vets. I think experience and familiarity should, either lack of that because you are new to ET entirely, or lack of that due to the fact that you are just not a contest junkey and are not familiar with how the official contests work should qualify you as a newbie, and that alone.

I may be rambling way off subject, or rambling about something that is already in place, or just flat out irrelevant, but I'm stating my opinion on the matter because this convo really confused me, and it made it out as if you can only be considered a Vet to any of the contests only if you have won one....and I disagree with that.

but completely ignore me if I have been mistaken ;P

2008-10-23 [windowframe]: The reason we had the veterans contest in the first place is because some people felt that those who have won contests might feel it unfair that they were not allowed to enter the newbie contest (which only those who HAVEN'T won a contest can enter). So we gave them their own contest, which only those who HAVE won contests can enter. Making it so that non-winners could enter the veteran contest would completely defeat its point and purpose. :P

2008-10-23 [Mordigen]: but it is also unfair to force people who are not newbies to enter a "newbie" contest just because they have not won an official contest in the past -- official contests are tough shit to win, because the "official" status comes with set-out standards on quality, technique and skill and so on and so forth etc -- meaning, the contests are quite good, and quite a challenege. So it is much more difficult to win an official contest, and to call someone a newbie just because they didn't place in quite a good challenge is not fair to them either. And allowing regular enter...enterers? enterees? you get the word I'm looking for there -- allowing them to enter a vet contest wouldn't defeat the point of it, so long as the people who HAVE won are still allowed to enter too -- but forcing them to enter a "newbie" contest belittles their past contributions and efforts. A newbie contest should be for just that -- newbies, not "newbies and non-newbies that havent won"  thats a bit condescending.

2008-10-23 [Nita]: OK, how about this: non-winners who consider themselves "newbies" can enter a Newbie contest, anyone can enter a Veteran contest?

2008-10-23 [Mordigen]: well, i wouldn't go as far as saying *anyone* can enter a veterans contest, because then it really does take away from the principal behind it. I think that newbies, and any non-winners that want to enter, or consider themselves newbies can enter newbie contests -- and then winners, and non-winners that regularly enter official contests can enter a vet. contest.

but, once again - that is just my suggestion on the matter. :)

2008-10-23 [windowframe]: I think you're placing too much emphasis on what we chose to call them, "newbie" and "veteran" should both be said in huge inverted commas, I agree that they're badly named, though.

2008-10-23 [Thunder Cid]: Why not say beginners and advanced?

2008-10-23 [windowframe]: That doesn't solve the problem at all. Many people eligible to enter the "newbie" contest ARE advanced artists, they just happen not to have won a contest yet. It's just as much a misnomer to call them a "beginner" as it is to call them a "newbie".

2008-10-23 [Thunder Cid]: Well then if you think about it, is there anyway to solve the classification issue?

2008-10-24 [iippo]: One way would be to not have the classifications at all :P Fortunately most contests are like that.

2008-10-24 [Calico Tiger]: Newbie was shorter than "People who haven't won a contest yet" and "losers" is just mean. Newbie doesn't sound so bad now, does it? ;) But feel free to suggest another name for what the contest is :D

2008-10-24 [Mordigen]: That is the point I was trying to make though - the badly named classification, and the fact that if it is under that classification, it should be better arranged.

but yes, it would be easier to just take away the classifications, or rename them.
IT would be much easier to just remove the classification titles, and just specify the rules in the contest itself rather then trying to label them one thing over another like :

Moon beam contest, part 1
and make specific rules on people who have won before cannot enter

then Moon beam contest, part 2
and make specific rules on people who have won before ONLY can enter

etc.

2008-11-12 [Chimes]: As I am now a Featured Image Boss... Should I put it next to my username?

2008-11-12 [windowframe]: Not until you're not a trainee.

2008-11-12 [Chimes]: Alrighty. :]

2008-11-29 [Imperator]: Do you think you guys could a little news piece like that for the Elftown Academy too?

2008-11-29 [Teufelsweib]: the Elftown Academy isn't official anymore, so I guess not.

2008-11-29 [Hedda]: Of course we can promote everything regardless if it's official or not. As long as it's interesting.

2008-11-29 [Teufelsweib]: shouldn't that be in the featured wiki, then?
or the MC on the side of the mainstreet.
in that case we could do mainstreet news articles about practically everything O_o

2008-11-29 [Chimes]: Slavork has a point.

2008-11-29 [iippo]: The operative word in Slavork's comment is 'could'. Not necessarily that we would do that :P Usually the mainstreet newsitem is really busy with official announcements already, but if there is no other news, there is no harm in giving a news slot for something that is good and useful for people to know about, official or un.

2008-11-29 [windowframe]: We discussed featuring the Academy, but we're kind of reluctant to do that since it already has it's own permanent link on Main Street. Same argument would apply for putting it on the calendar - the link it has now is higher up the page than either the MC link or the Featured wiki would be. I agree with iippo, and if we don't want to make a news item about absolutely everything, we can always say that the reason the Academy and the Herald got news items is because they still actually are semi-official. :P

2008-11-29 [True, plain and simple]: The Herald is no more official than the Academy.
