2008-11-29 [windowframe]: Er, yes, and every time we talk about them we give them a wishy-washy semi-official status.

2008-11-29 [True, plain and simple]: Who has done that? I surely haven't. I think that you're all having misconceptions that came about from some uncertainty. Neither the Academy or the Herald is official, because neither are run by the council. We may pay special attention to them, but that's because of their large appeal to Elftowners in general. In either case, [iippo] and [Hedda] make the point that there's no harm in making special note of certain things when there is free space. :)

2008-11-30 [Imperator]: Here here! :-) Some people might not see the link on Main Street but they'll see the news item because it will pop up underneath their messages. For some reason I never saw the link for about a year until someone told me about the Academy... XD

2008-12-03 [Mordigen]: I will have to beg to Differ with you on that TPS - The Academy is an on going project, that is interesting, informative and fun, but doesn't really serve any official point. Even though the Herald is not official because it is not run by the Council - It is still Elftown's "official Ezine" which I think boasts some legitimacy for it.

and I have to ask now - What would be the problem with making the Herlad official? We already have more council members on Staff than not, and that has been an ongoing trend from the get-go.

2008-12-03 [True, plain and simple]: I don't see how the Academy is any less "legitimate" than the Herald, nor how that relates at all to the separate disputed matter of them being (semi-)official (which I'm fairly familiar with, given that branding things "official" was my idea in the first place).

What's the use in it being official? It's really not good (for many reasons) to have so many pages official, especially since pages of that type weren't the intended target anyway.

2008-12-03 [Mordigen]: Because we don't get the level of respect or appreciation as we should be given, especially for the ammount of work that goes into it. And I don't think there is a unified understanding throughout ET about what makes something official or unofficia - and it is exhausting to deal with the motivation of the staff there with people that continually prove themselves to be unreliable - If it were official, being run by the council, then at the very least we could have people that we know are regularly active in ET, are dedicated to ET and will be reliable to work with - then with a reliable staff and good people behind it, instead just a few of the members here and there, then maybe we could actually put out something that people could respect instead of, for the most part, seeming like all our work is in vain.

2008-12-03 [True, plain and simple]: Why can't you have those people anyway? There's nothing preventing you from recruiting. On the other side of the issue, why would you expect the council to pick up on a project that you're saying is facing so much difficulty right now? It doesn't seem like a worthwhile endeavour. I don't really understand the part about respect and appreciation; what exactly would need to have happen to feel as though you were given enough of both? O_o

And I don't think there is a unified understanding throughout ET about what makes something official or unofficial
If it has an official banner..

2008-12-04 [Mordigen]: We have been trying to have those people, but they are harder to come by than we thought. I didn't mean it in the fashion at all for the council to just take over a lost cause....I was looking at it in a progressive and positive manner on both ends

But I guess it doesn't really matter, everytime any of us every try to mention anything about the Herald to try to improve it or build it up, we always get shot down....

that is a prime example of what I meant by respect and appreciation - every time I come here I walk away feeling like the Council just plainly doesn't give a shit about the Herald. I can understand giving it less from your side because of the way it's been going -- but how are we expected to better that and fix that if we constantly get nothing back from you guys? And even though, yes, it's not your project so why should you care? - Even if it is not run by the council so isn't "official" it still is Elftown's official E-Zine, and so we should be able to work side by side with you guys on certain things....and it feels like we never do.
Even pages that are just personal pages, or just for random Elftown community fun at least get nominations and raitings -- we don't even have that. A great way to start on fixing the respect/appreciation problem would be to feel like we're at least being listened to when we come here with ideas, suggestions, or just plain questions instead of always immediately being shot out of the water.

2008-12-04 [True, plain and simple]: What are you getting shot down about? The only real suggestion you've made is that "the Herald is more legitimate than the Academy" and that you want it to become official. I told you that you're misinterpreting the purpose of a page being official, and that it won't help you with the problems that you're facing.

I don't get what you supposedly aren't getting back from us. And, for the record, I immediately shoot any idea that doesn't make sense out of the water. Haven't you seen the Suggestions forum? It's an efficiency mechanism. That being said, I'm still not sure what else you've actually asked us for.

2008-12-05 [All_Most PUNK]: I really fail to see what the Council should do, Mordigen. It's like we've had this discussion a hundred times and it's always the same.
We do get more than other wikis: we get a news item every time a new issue is published. Who else gets a news item when they update?
And talking as both council and heralder, I don't see the problem of working together. When there's work to do together or a suggestion that could make us work together. The rest of the time, The Herald is on its own. As it has to be, since there's no reson for it to be different.

2008-12-05 [Teufelsweib]: I doubt much would change anyway if you'd made it official. it's not that more council members would work on it, or are needed to work on it, then they already do.
as you said, there already are a couple of council members who work for the herald. I don't know what you need for the herald, but if it's more articles for example, then I don't think you'll get more support from the council on that matter if it's made official ;)
and neither do I think it'll get more publicity when it's made official... it'll just get a pretty banner on the top, that's all.

2008-12-05 [Mordigen]: Well no, actually the discussion of involving the Council with the Herald has never come about before -- there was the ongoing problem with the badge that we didn't understand why there was no veterans bage etc, and everytime we asked about it, we were just told no that it wont because it's not official --- but there was no explanation as to why we were not official until finall PUNK explained it to me in a private message. Little things like that - nobody exlained it to us, only the people that were already on the council understood why it wasn't official, the rest of the Heralders that were not on the Council and didn't already have that information were just left in the dark confused - if someone had just told us that, point blank, from the get go "No, because your not official and you're not offcial because your not run by the council" then it would have been understood and we wouldn't have continued to bring it up and ask about it -- things like that is what I mean.
And I wasn't particularly saying that the council should do anything, but I didn't think that it would have been a bad move to make it official, and I thought the Council being more involved with it would help it out. So I thought of it being a good thing on both ends - not meaning it in a sense of 'the council is responsile for helping us out and they never do', but just on certain things, do not leave us in the dark (like the above mentioned).
The Herald, in my opinion Represents Elftown - I don't know about everyoen else, but that is how I look at it, because it's Elftown's E-Zine, and just like our lil slogan says on our wiki - Made by Elftowners, for Elftowners. And right now, the way it has been going, it's not really saying much for Elftown or Eters, and that being the case, I just thought that the Council, as well as Herladers, would want it to be Better to be something that ET as a whole could be proud - so along that train of thought, I thought it would be a good thing to have the Coucil more involved because - like I said before - the Council is made up of people that we *know* are dedicated to ET. Now, maybe that sounds better being said then actually trying to implement it, which is fine, I understand that - sometimes things just don't work out in execution like they sound like they would. But on the other hand, I don't understand why that is such a rediculous suggestion either?

2008-12-05 [All_Most PUNK]: The problem is that you aren't giving any specific suggestions. SAying "the council should be more involved" is a generality. Which particular steps do you think we should take as council (god, this conversation is giving me a headache. I need to check every time if I'm talking as council or as heralder :P)?

There was no need for an explanation of why it wasn't official because it was never official. We would have to go around explaining to everybody why they aren't official if not.

2008-12-05 [Teufelsweib]: perhaps the problem of the inactivity lies with the herald itself instead of with how it depends on how much the council is involved...

2008-12-05 [Teufelsweib]: I mean, of course that's a bit a harsh conclusion to make. but I remember a time ago already I wanted to help out with the herald.
so I asked someone what I could do to help out.
"write some article"
and I still had no clue O_o about what? yeah, the theme... but what kind of article, how big, with pictures or not, about what, etc.
and the answer I got was something like "ah, just write something and we'll see if it's ok or not"
not really encouraging... I don't know if it's still like that, but I always saw the herald as something which you couldn't really help contributing to without being a heralder self, and if you tried to help anyway, you were being waved off...

2008-12-05 [All_Most PUNK]: Actually, it's not that inactive. We've managed to put out a couple issues on time. But the roster changes a lot because people disappear and such.

2008-12-05 [Mordigen]: Wow, well I'm sorry Slavork, it really shouldn't have been handled that way at all - and you're right, that isn't encouraging at all.

Well that's the thing - I do not know the inner working of the Council, I'm not sure what all they could do, that's why I made a generalization, hoping to get some sort of feedback or suggestions or some type of brainstorming going on, not just labeling as "you guys need to help!....and...your not, so your all bastards!" or for a "well she's being vague, so ...no. "  :P

2008-12-05 [Hedda]: [Teufelsweib]: Well, that is kind of hard to explain, so I understand why you got that answer even if it doesn't seem nice.

The problem is that there are a lot of people who ask and ask all about exactly what, where and how to do stuff. History shows that these people in the end actually don't do anything while spending time that could have been used on helping people who do something.

The way to go is to do and ask ask you go along. Like:
What if I write this article about Foo. I'll write it as a PDF-file on 10 pages.
No, make it like 1 page and write it on a wiki-page.
OK, I've written it now. I want to use some images, how do I do that?
I fixed the layout and some spelling. You can upload images with the button "Upload a file" to the right of this page.

And so on.

Maybe someone can write an article about this. Feel free to copy my text. <img:stuff/dand-gif.gif>

2008-12-05 [Nita]: So, everyone who wants to contribute has to be a perfectly well-rounded person: a great writer and a self-starter, with the ability to easily find their own way in any new project and perfect negotiation skills? Is that right, [Hedda]? No wonder we have a problem finding such people in great numbers... ;D

2008-12-05 [All_Most PUNK]: No. But we do offer ways to help in the Herald. We have areas, we have different sections, we have interviews and we have forums where things can be asked. Now, what we don't have is a set of rules for how to write an article. But people should be able to write one without that.

2008-12-05 [Hedda]: [Nita]: No, you totally misunderstood me. They don't have to be good at anything, but they have to do something before they can be helped. No one can learn how to ski by asking questions to the instructor.

So if they just put on the skis and try a little, it's possible to tell them what they do wrong, but they have to actually do something to learn. And not being afraid of doing wrong, of course.

Please note: It's safer to try to write an article than trying to ski down a steep slope!

2008-12-06 [Nita]: And not being afraid of doing wrong, of course.

Do you realize how uncommon that is? :P

2008-12-07 [Imperator]: Really, all these problems come down to participation and numbers on Elftown. I remember that I had to submit my application to join Elftown three times because I kept making one mistake or another each time and then I had to redo the whole thing. I nearly gave up but if that's still how the application process works, then it needs to at least be fixed to keep the correctly entered info.

2008-12-07 [Chimes]: But with the applications and having to redo them... if you keep redoing it... it shows you are dedicated and really want to be part of it.

2008-12-07 [Imperator]: ... That sounds like a really bad reason to keep it that way. In my opinion we just lose new people that could really be benificial to this site. For example, I almost quit and although I drive everybody crazy, no one can fault me on my participation in Elftown. :D

2008-12-07 [Chimes]: ... Well. I'm not saying it's a reason. I'm just saying that's how it appears to me.
Well, I was sorting the page... and messaging everyone and a lot of people are still interested in being on the crew. So, it seems to me like a good system.

2008-12-07 [Imperator]: I think we're on different pages. I'm talking about becoming a new member of Elftown entirely, not crew applications.

2008-12-07 [Chimes]: Oh duh. Sorry... yeah. I get what you mean. XD
I am a nonse sometimes. Many apologies.

2008-12-08 [Hedda]: [Imperator]: We changed the application-process. Now we accept almost anyone. They still have to write a few lines in the presentation though.

I don't get why you had to redo everything. Elftown has always kept the text so that you don't have to rewrite everything (only the stuff that's wrong), and if one has to, then it's a bug.

2008-12-08 [Imperator]: Hmmmm. Then I suppose it must have been a bug because everytime there was a mistake it had wiped out everything I put previously. But that was two years ago so...

2009-03-08 [Nyaah*]: hey i think i´ve got a picture bug somehow.. dont know whom to ask for help!
more and more pics on my wikis are upside down and mirrow inverted suddely!!!! any ideas??

2009-03-08 [Chimes]: Hedda put a new tag on Elftown that flips images, you've probably accidentally got that in some of your image tags. Which wikis are having issues?

2009-03-08 [Nyaah*]: fixed!!! [windowframe] told me about the <img:http.. thing!!
i was really confused <img:stuff/sh-gif.gif>

2009-03-17 [windowframe]: I edited it to slip in a quick note about the image tag thing. <_<

2009-03-17 [windowframe]: D'oh, forgot that one. :P

2009-04-08 [Alexi Ice]: *Cries* I want a colored badge!!!

2009-04-08 [windowframe]: Then work for it. ;)

2009-04-08 [Alexi Ice]: I have been ^^ How many sessions for the ECM do I need to create? I have made...what, six or nine maybe?

2009-04-08 [windowframe]: You need to do more than just make ECM sessions.

2009-04-08 [Alexi Ice]: It's brilliant! Why didn't I think of that before? Hmmmmm *Wonders what else I could be doing.*

2009-04-08 [windowframe]: Using the forum?

2009-04-08 [Alexi Ice]: To do what? I usually just annoy people by posting random forums anyway...well I probably annoy people regardless but whatever... ^^

2009-04-08 [windowframe]: To... read the current discussions and meaningfully contribute.

2009-04-08 [Alexi Ice]: Okie dokie! Will do! ^^ Thankies, Silv.

2009-04-08 [Imperator]: Psssst! Speaking of "contribute"... Elftown Academy and The Town Herald *cough* ;D

2009-04-08 [hanhepi]: is there a way to unretire?

2009-04-08 [Chimes]: :P Well, you just did. :D Welcome back, han. :)

2009-04-08 [Janouk]: Is there any reason you put her at the end of the line? // Woopay! :p

2009-04-08 [Alexi Ice]: [Imperator] I was under the impression that the Academy was dead?

2009-04-08 [Janouk]: Not dead, but no longer Official Page material.

2009-04-08 [Chimes]: The Academy doesn't see a lot of action though, so it is understandable that one would get that impression. :P

2009-04-08 [Alexi Ice]: That is sad!!!

2009-04-09 [Imperator]: [Thunder Cid] and I have been working to try and get it restarted but progress is slow. :-(

2009-04-09 [Alexi Ice]: I could always help. ^^

2009-04-09 [hanhepi]: yay! i'm unretired! woo hoo!

2009-04-09 [Mortified Penguin]: All you need is an alarm at the top of the page, telling people to come take some classes...

2009-04-09 [Thunder Cid]: It's not really a major Elftown related issue.

2009-04-09 [Mortified Penguin]: It could be!

2009-04-09 [Imperator]: And it should be! :D One lil' alarm thingy would be nice... *cough*listen council people*cough* XD

2009-04-09 [Calico Tiger]: A news item about it I could see. But not for the alarm :)

2009-04-09 [Imperator]: I'm alarmed that you won't consider it! </bad pun> But wasn't there a relatively recent news item on it already?

2009-04-09 [nehirwen]: There was a somewhat recent news item about contributing to the herald.

2009-04-09 [Alexi Ice]: Alarms are hard to come by, I think ^^'

2009-04-10 [Thunder Cid]: I need a council member to remove all of my badges for me. I want no trace left when I leave.

2009-04-10 [Kyrinn]: The message in your house was really uncalled for, Cid.

2009-04-10 [Jitter]: removed and can be found again at #101743 badges

And it's better to know all the facts before jumping into assumptions.

2009-04-10 [Thunder Cid]: Sorry you feel that way, but she was the only person who believed in me.

I don't need to know all of the facts, only the ones that I need to know. There are more reason I am leaving, they are more on a business level. But the loss of my closest friend here was my last straw. No hard feelings and good luck here.

2009-04-10 [Kyrinn]: thats your call, and I hope you are ready to live with it. Wont wish ya good luck either man. :P

2009-04-10 [Thunder Cid]: Ready and willing ^^

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: As long as you don't leave yahoo and I can still talk to you, then I wish you can find your happiness.

2009-04-10 [Jitter]: Then you don't know all the facts you need to know :)

Anyway good luck. People come and go here all the time *shrug*

2009-04-10 [Thunder Cid]: Thank ya ma'am.

2009-04-10 [Thunder Cid]: *sighs*

This is hard for me. Very hard...I was wrong. I should not have flown off of the handle like I did. I don't want to leave. I hate myself for getting worked up like I did. I love it here, I put a lot of time in this place. I want to apologize to everyone. I was wrong for not getting both sides of the story and just siding like I did. If you all find it in your hearts to forgive me it would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to work up my reputation again if you all will have me around. Again I'm sorry for everything.

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: Well I forgive you though I don't know what you did wrong.

2009-04-10 [Thunder Cid]: I had a hissy fit, and blew my top.

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: So I heard. ^^

2009-04-10 [Calico Tiger]: It's alright :) Misunderstandings happen all the time! :D *points a warning finger at Mort* Quiet in the peanut gallery!

2009-04-10 [Mortified Penguin]: ...huh?! ...me?! ...*eats ramen*...

2009-04-10 [Mortified Penguin]: ...*throws peanuts*...

2009-05-09 [Alexi Ice]: Rarg? Am I about up for a badge update?

2009-05-09 [windowframe]: No.

2009-05-09 [Alexi Ice]: Dang. Lol.

2009-05-09 [Calico Tiger]: Hehe, no worries. I don't imagine it's much longer considering how active you are :D It's a common question and answer amongst the newer crew members x)

2009-05-09 [Imperator]: Curse you council members and your curt, one word replies! *shakes a very indignant fist* It's seriously annoying!

2009-05-10 [Teufelsweib]: so are you.

2009-05-10 [sequeena_rae]: ooooo bitchy XD

2009-05-10 [Teufelsweib]: you know me :P

2009-05-10 [Alexi Ice]: I don't mind. Lol. ^^ Silve isn't being mean, so no worries.
Yeah Cali (can I call you that?) I can imagine I will get the idea of how the badge system works eventually.

2009-05-10 [Chimes]: I asked when I was new too. :P I think I got pretty much the same reply.

2009-05-10 [Teufelsweib]: hmm.. [someelf] has been a trainee for quite some time already. so I guess it really depends on how active you are until you get a colored badge, for as you can see, it can also take about half a year :P

2009-05-10 [sequeena_rae]: I was one of the lucky ones and joined the council before the trainee system came in

2009-05-10 [Linderel]: And didn't apply, either. :3

2009-05-10 [Alexi Ice]: That does sound lucky!!!

2009-05-10 [sequeena_rae]: Nope, didn't apply :D

2009-05-10 [Linderel]: :D

2009-05-11 [Hedda]: [sequeena_rae] and [Linderel] were work-horses way before they were council, if I remember correctly.

2009-05-11 [Linderel]: Nah, I earned my place by nagging True to do his job. Speaking of... *goes do the job in question*

2009-05-11 [Hedda]: I had no idea your job was to nag True! But that's great! That really needs to be done...

(I saw the poem update though...)

2009-05-11 [Linderel]: I should have someone to nag me. <_< Or not. I nag at myself enough already.

2009-05-11 [Alexi Ice]: Lol. I don't even know how to nag most of the time. ^^

2009-05-12 [Chimes]: I could nag you, Lin. :P

2009-05-12 [sequeena_rae]: That's the nicest thing you've said about me [Hedda] :D

2009-05-13 [Teufelsweib]: ...how on earth did I get into the council right away then O_o

2009-05-13 [Sunrose]: Everyone wonders about that.. :P

2009-05-13 [Teufelsweib]: guess it's just another one of ET's mysteries

2009-05-13 [Kyrinn]: We could delve into conspiracy theories there...

2009-05-13 [Teufelsweib]: how many people I've buttfucked to get in the council

2009-05-13 [Linderel]: You a hermaphrodite? :O

2009-05-13 [All_Most PUNK]: Kids, probably a good moment to move it to another wiki.

2009-05-13 [Linderel]: I think that moment passed quite a few comments ago... <_< *zips mouth*

2009-05-13 [Mortified Penguin]: Yeah, yous guys. Move it to Bob's Diner (now open 25/7!).

2009-05-13 [Alexi Ice]: Lol anywhere but here! Yuckie ^^'

2009-05-13 [sequeena_rae]: Who's the graphics boss guys? :O

2009-05-15 [sequeena_rae]: I know, just wondering why it wasn't on the page :P

2009-05-15 [True, plain and simple]: It is, in link form, at the top. Just that it is slightly less relevant than the other positions those people hold, I suppose. For instance, I'm listed only as Guard Boss, even though I'm also other things. :P

2009-05-15 [Alexi Ice]: I'm not listed as anything, Lol. That's alright though.

2009-05-15 [Chimes]: It's because you're still training :P

2009-05-15 [Calico Tiger]: Exactly. I'm not listed as anything but a builder, but I'm also a guard :) I think hedda wanted to cut down the ginormous lists instead of listing every single thing we do x)

Although it does look like some people still have a big enough list up there, so it is a valid question, come to think of it :-/ Bah, I say!

2009-05-15 [Alexi Ice]: Eh, whateva ^^ I don't really have an official title unless there is one for 'overly persistant contest makers.' Lol.

2009-05-15 [Chimes]: That would be a builder :P I think.

2009-05-16 [Calico Tiger]: Chimes is right :) It would be Builder. It's the catch-all for pretty much... errr... everything that isn't listed x) Graphics, wikis, contests, etc...

2009-05-16 [Teufelsweib]: the list of who does what on this wiki is indeed not that... consistant O_o

2009-05-16 [Zab]: Why is Elftown messing up? I mean, it's been shut down/un-findable several times now, then it comes back, disappears and so on.. what's happening to it?

2009-05-16 [Alexi Ice]: I imagine either something is wrong with Hedda's server, or he is having electrical problems ^^ Don't fret! <3

2009-05-17 [Zab]: No..I just want to know what's happening and if it's getting solved.

2009-05-17 [Paul Doyle]: Heaven forbid Elftown should have a B-movie style computer meltdown! Explosions, arcing blue electricity, people waving their arms around in despair, robotic "MALFUNCTION" voices, dancing cats, etc etc etc.

(Don't freak out, folks.)

2009-05-17 [Imperator]: The alarm has bad grammar... *cough*

2009-05-17 [sequeena_rae]: You understood it didn't you?

2009-05-18 [Alexi Ice]: Paul - Lol. Don't be mean ^^ It's un-usual, is all. I am sure there will be a stream of complaints to follow.

Zab - Don't worry. As the alarm says..kinda...Hedda is doing what he can to avoid anymore problems alright, so no worries ^^

2009-05-18 [Chimes]: Zab isn't worrying :P She just wanted to know.

2009-05-18 [Zab]: I'm not sure if the akarm was up when I asked.. >_> I've learnt to erase the blinking horror from my eyes so they cencor it for me..

2009-05-18 [Alexi Ice]: No worries is an Australian thing, it doesn't necessarily mean 'no worries' it's kind of like the American saying 'it's cool'

2009-05-18 [Chimes]: To quote you: 'Don't worry'. :P That's what I was replying to. We say no worries over here...

2009-05-18 [Teufelsweib]: oh come on, lets not make a fuss about it

2009-05-18 [Chimes]: I'm not. :P I'm explaining myself. Misunderstandings tend to go wrong, terribly, terribly wrong. :P

2009-05-18 [All_Most PUNK]: Time to move it :P

2009-05-19 [Alexi Ice]: Moving...!

2009-05-19 [Zab]: This ''Elftown keeps shutting down''makes me nervous :(

2009-05-19 [Mortified Penguin]: It's all good! ...*pats Elftown's back*... *Elftown crashes*...

2009-05-20 [Cillamoon]: Whhhheeeeee!!!!!!!! *whips out wish list & checks off: become council member on ET*

2009-05-20 [Chimes]: Welcome to the Council, Cilla! :)

2009-05-20 [Alexi Ice]: Yes, welcome!

2009-05-20 [Cillamoon]: Thank you!!! I cannot put into words on how excited I am! I may end up doing a diary entry later with all the adjectives I can think of! lol But seriously here, I am truly honored to be a member of the council now, THANK YOU!

2009-06-11 [Zombiie Natiion]: hello council members!!! <img:stuff/dand-gif.gif> gosh it's been a long time since i've been here.. lol it feels so strange to be unknown when i'm such a talked about member on elfpack >.< but i'm back in elftown now so 'sall gravy <img:stuff/cheshmak.gif> right.. so i was after some info, or advice as to how i can go about getting it.. uhmm.. things like, who are the regulars here, who runs stuff (apart from obviously [Hedda] and so on), like who are the most talked about/liked/disliked members.. just general gossip.. fill me in on all the exciting things that i've missed!! and all that jazz <img:stuff/mood-gif.gif>

2009-06-11 [Mortified Penguin]: Basically, I'm second in charge. Bob's Diner is one of Elftown's most important wikis. It's where most important people here go... *eats ramen*...

2009-06-11 [Zombiie Natiion]: Aha, mhmm.. I see, well, I shall be checking that out and getting into the swing of things ASAP fingers crossed.. Any other info you wish to share with me darling?

2009-06-11 [Hedda]: You can read the Junk forum... Only a few hundred postings per day of very important stuff!

2009-06-11 [Zombiie Natiion]: Ooooooer.. I like that plan :D

2009-06-11 [Calico Tiger]: [Zombiie Natiion], Mort is incorrect. Mort, don't lie to people who don't know you're joking. Or tell them you are joking, at least *shakes a finger*

2009-06-11 [Zombiie Natiion]: Oh.. ¬_¬ That wasn't very nice Mort! :( Why would you do that to a poor helpless little noob, such as myself?? Could you help then, [Calico Tiger]?

2009-06-11 [Calico Tiger]: Most of the bosses are listed on this page :D Which people run which of the official pages. [Hedda] is in charge (which ya already knew), but we no longer have a vice mayor at the moment. So, mostly, all council members pretty much spout answers where it's needed and when it's needed (and we hope it's right x) ). For the latest gossip and all, [Hedda] was absolutely correct. The junk forum is a perfect place for that :D My Day may be as well, but I haven't been a member of that particular forum for a couple years now >_> So not sure its status anymore, really.

For some of the "recent" updates, you can check updates 2008-07-04. Despite the name of it, there are more updates than just for that date listed on there XD Looks like it lists the updates up through December 30 of 2008

2009-06-11 [Zombiie Natiion]: Well, thank you very much darling :) I shall do so x

2009-06-11 [sequeena_rae]: The best thing you can do is just ignore mort :P

2009-06-11 [Zombiie Natiion]: I see... I take it he's not very liked here then :)

2009-06-11 [Mortified Penguin]: How dare you people spread blatant lies about me?! ...I should ban you all forthwith...

2009-06-11 [All_Most PUNK]: Just so people won't be scared, lately the Junk forum has been a lot less active. It's a good day if it has 100 new posts.

2009-06-11 [Teufelsweib]: you can also go to now of course and try to get a conversation going on there that goes further than everyone yelling "hi" at each other :P

2009-06-11 [All_Most PUNK]: Or go to the General Debate forum and ask what do they prefer: pie, cake or abortion. That will give you some good times.

2009-06-11 [Teufelsweib]: right now I'm so hungry I could eat all three of those x_x
but yeah, you could even try out the elftown chat, though it seems to be kind of empty lately.

2009-06-11 [All_Most PUNK]: There's always people on the elfchat. You even have the java applet for it on the mainstreet, so it's easy to get there. They may not talk a lot, but you can surely wake them up.

2009-06-11 [Rice]: Hello council members.
I have spoken with Hedda about creating a Featured Photograph' spot on Mainstreet and he told me to come talk here to see if anyone else was interested in it.
I feel it would go in nicely considering we have featured art, the daily poem, featured member and now a featured story 8)
So..if anyone else would be interested please tell me...

2009-06-11 [nehirwen]: I thought photo's were already covered by the featured art..

2009-06-11 [Linderel]: They are. Digital, traditional, photos and photomanipulations all go under Featured Art.

2009-06-11 [Rice]: I've never seen them up there personally, and if so I think Hedda would have said something. And besides, a proper photography one would be nicer. It's just an idea...but I feel passionate about it 8)
I'm not trying to intrude over the featured art.

2009-06-11 [Chimes]: I've featured a photograph recently in the featured art. So yeah, we already have it.

2009-06-11 [Rice]: But like I said..i think an offical feature photograph would work as well.
Especially since we now have a featured story and that is working along nicely.

2009-06-11 [Chimes]: The reason they don't appear much is because we don't get many nominations with them.

2009-06-11 [windowframe]: "and if so I think Hedda would have said something." You think wrong. As Lin and Nehi said, they are covered by the featured art. Hedda just doesn't pay much attention to the features, obviously. ;)

2009-06-11 [Rice]: But would it really hurt so much to have a featured photograph aswell?

2009-06-11 [windowframe]: Yes. I would die a little bit inside.

2009-06-11 [Chimes]: Yes, because nominations for most things are rare in the at the best of times :P So it makes more sense to group them.

2009-06-11 [Rice]: Well actually, I was thinking maybe it could maybe follow along the lines of the daily poem in that you put forward you own photography. It would get a lot more content put forward that way.

2009-06-11 [windowframe]: It would get a lot more content put forward that way.
This is a fallacious assumption.
Featured Wiki also allows nomination of your own stuff and still gets far fewer nominations than the DP.

2009-06-11 [Rice]: But then a featured wiki is slightly different than featuring art.
I personally would feel more inclined to put forward art than have my wiki put on display.

2009-06-11 [windowframe]: And a featured photograph is slightly different to a featured poem, what's your point? And I'd rather have a wiki of mine on display on MS than some of my art.

2009-06-11 [Teufelsweib]: we could then also have a featured traditional art, and featured photo manips, and featured digital art, and featured manga fanart etc.
if you really want to see more photography on the mainstreet you should, and encourage others, to nominate more photos. because as there already has been said above, we just don't get much photography nominations.

2009-06-11 [Rice]: That's what I want to do, encourage others to nominate photos.
Which have a photography section would do, we seperate them out in contests.
But if no one else is up for it that's fine -_-

2009-06-11 [Chimes]: If you separated photos from art... you'd have to separate other art mediums... and that would make Mainstreet even more cluttered... and it wouldn't be worth it because of the little amount things get nominated anyway.

2009-06-11 [Teufelsweib]: it is pointless, since they already are being included in the featured art. photography = art and it's already being featured. what of that do you not understand? having another seperate section would be irrelevant.

2009-06-11 [windowframe]: We could just make a news item/alarm note reminding people that the featured art also takes photographs.

2009-06-11 [Rice]: It was only a suggestion, and like most things the idea was thurly flawed.
I personally didn't think photography came under featured art but now i do thanks, but now I know it better be prepared to have about a million nominations.

2009-06-11 [Chimes]: Silvie, that's an idea... Having a news item every so often that reminds people to nominate for the features :P

2009-06-11 [Thunder Cid]: Not to mention there are several wiki's dedicated to photography already.

2009-06-11 [Calico Tiger]: Nominations are not rare, btw. I have send near to 50+ nominations to [Yuriona], so I know you guys aren't lacking for nominations. Heck, you guys are even still only barely getting to nominations sent in by someone who has been gone for years :P I think we're not seeing the photography (which I have also nominated) because Featured Art isn't updated very often :-/

2009-06-11 [Teufelsweib]: the featured art bosses are slackers. or at least one of them is! *shakes fist at herself*

2009-06-11 [Chimes]: I mean they are rare in the fact that they don't happen too often or in great quantity, not that we didn't have loads, we have loads because it's been building up for yeaaaaars :P
There aren't very many photos that were nominated since before today... I think when I was last in the queue I saw ... maybe three photos?

2009-06-11 [Calico Tiger]: Maybe once people actually notice that photos can be nominated people will nominate more of them :D Heck, I had to ask Yuri if they were ok to nominate or not when I nominated what I did x)

2009-06-11 [Chimes]: This is true :P

2009-06-12 [Cillamoon]: Forgive me for being naive here, but how do you nominate photo's?

2009-06-12 [Kaimee]: Geez slackers, feature some more stuff already! :O

2009-06-12 [Chimes]: You go to nominate a picture :)

Will do, will do. I'm faffing a schedule :P

2009-06-13 [Hedda]: [Chimes]: The buttons say "More drawings"... I should change that to "art" I assume?

2009-06-13 [Teufelsweib]: would be great! *goes look at the featured art wiki to see if she can spot more errors like that*

2009-06-13 [Hedda]: Fixed in the upcoming version.

2009-06-22 [Cillamoon]: Question: If I am the creator of a contest, and run the whole shebang really, and I post a poll to see who should win a contest that is open for all members to vote in, can I still vote in it myself?

2009-06-22 [Linderel]: That's not really a Council issue. :)
